If I have a bunch of the raw P2 media from a Panasonic HVX, is there a way to turn it into Quicktime files without going through the Log and Capture process in FCP? I'm on the road and don't have FCP on my laptop, but I'd like to get some logging out of the way. Don't know if thats even possible; anyone know of any solutions? Hope you're all doiby anthem - Café LA Re: Jumpy/Jittery Video in FCP Windows - 11 years agoSorry to revive an old thread, but I think I've figured it out and want to see if anyone can confirm it for me. I continued to have the same problems with 7D footage transcoded to Prores playing back jumpy and jittery. On a whim, I re-transcoded everything to DVCPROHD and the jitters went away. My capture scratch is an internal Hitachi SATA drive and I'm starting to think that it's just too slowby anthem - Café LA Re: Jumpy/Jittery Video in FCP Windows - 11 years agoQuick update...got rid of all the extra layers so all the clips were just in a continuous stream on one layer. The problem was still there, and remained after several restarts. I guess the stars aligned after the fourth restart because the problem went away then. It's a crapshoot whether or not it'll show up today. Any other ideas or help is always apreciated. Thanks guys!by anthem - Café LA Re: Jumpy/Jittery Video in FCP Windows - 11 years agoOk, thanks Derek...I'll play with it tonight and see if getting rid of the bottom layers helps the problem any.by anthem - Café LA Re: Jumpy/Jittery Video in FCP Windows - 11 years agoThanks so much for the help guys... Sorry, I forgot to mention that the clips were all ProRes LT at 23.98. I haven't cut anything other than ProRes in a while, so I'll try to mess around with some DVCPro HD stuff later on to see if that could be the problem. The clips are from a 7D that I transcoded to ProRes in MPEG Streamclip. I assume this could be caused by using incorrect settings duringby anthem - Café LA Jumpy/Jittery Video in FCP Windows - 11 years agoOkay, this is super weird and I'm not even sure if I know a good way to describe the problem, but here goes. I'm having a recurring problem with video being played back in FCP really...off. It's hard to explain how it looks, but it's kind of like when you're watching video with a lousy internet connection or a computer that can't quite keep up. It's jerky and strobe-y (that's a word, right?) aby anthem - Café LA Re: TV ad fails HARDING test...please help. - 11 years agoMichael Horton Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > I'd suspect after > this thread is done we wont hear of it for another > 5 years. I'm looking at the VR2 and I'm curious what the benefits of a 2-disc enclosure like that are versus a traditional external RAID drive, like a G RAID or a Mercury Elite Pro. There's a pretty large price difference once you start swapping out drives, since the replacement modules are about $200 for 1TBby anthem - Café LA Re: FCP Workflows / Process? - 12 years agoGotcha. I was asking just out of curiosity, so I don't think a consultant is really necessary. Thanks.by anthem - Café LA FCP Workflows / Process? - 12 years agoI've tried to search for this, but haven't come up with anything yet. Admittedly, the problem may be how I'm looking but I figured I'd go ahead and ask. I'm very interested in hearing about other people's workflows within Final Cut Studio and the process in which they do their work. Hopefully you guys can help me out... I haven't been in Final Cut in a while, so I'm admittedly rusty, but I can't seem to figure this one out. I have a ton of watersports footage shot with an HPX-170 in the overcrank slow motion setting. It's a 23.98 fps video on a DVCPRO HD 720P60 timeline, just under 4 minutes. When I export the sequence to a QT file, it's 1.4 gigs, but when I import it into DVDSP, it's compressed to 100MB and it looks horrible once it's on the DVD. Are there any settings I'm not thinking about in DVDSP? I think a Black Magic card will be in order for external monitoring.by anthem - Café LA Display for Working with HD - 15 years agoPlease forgive me if this has come up before; I did a search and could not find the answer to what I feel should be a very basic, common sense question. I'm purchasing a new Mac Pro and will be working with HD material for the first time. I have run into a question as I am picking my displays and want to make sure I don't buy something I'll later regret. Thanks for the help guys...by anthem - Café LA Working with Different FCS Versions - 15 years agoI did a search for this and came up with nothing, although I might just be doing a poor job of explaining myself. In a nutshell, I have FCS1. My friend has FCS2. Can we both work on the same project files or do the different versions prevent that from happening? We have identical external drives to use for media. Thanks guys...by anthem - Café LA Timeline Playhead - 15 years agoI've done a search for this, but I'm not sure the best way to explain what I mean; hope some you guys can decipher this: Every time I add a clip to the timeline, the playhead automatically goes to the end of the clip. This is fine if I'm dealing with short clips, but it's kind of annoying for long clips. Is there a way to prevent FCP from doing this?by anthem - Café LA Re: Incrasing Speed of Slow Disks - 15 years agoOkay, here's what I've figured out so far. The problems only exist after some time. I can copy and paste the clips into a new sequence and it will work fine. Wait an hour or so and the problems start up again without me making any changes. In order to finish this project, I'm having to copy/paste to different sequences every time things start acting up. It suggests lowering the number of RT layers or limiting RT bandwidth. After trying that to no avail, the only suggestion left is to increase the speed of my disks. How exactly is this done?
