The text looks fine in the Canvas and fine when burned to DVD but I was hoping for a reasonable facsimile of the final output without having to waste time exporting and burning to DVD.by relggid - Café LA Re: FCP Titles on external monitor - 14 years agoJ.Corbett Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ok > so is your monitor a broadcast monitor or a tube tv? I load a mini-dv project with all video settings set to DV NTSC 48 kHZ and the Video playback set to Apple Firewire NTSC (720x480). The titles look wretched. To put it into perspective: viewing video and titles on my monitor = 100% quality; viewing video thru my TV = 85% quality; viewing titles thru my TV = 50% quality.by relggid - Café LA FCP Titles on external monitor - 14 years agoI'm using a Formac Studio device to try to look at my video on a TV before burning to DVD. When I play an HD sequence, the TV only shows a still frame. The still frame looks fine (except for text). I'm guessing this is because the Formac device is several years old and cannot display HD. When I play an SD sequence, everything plays fine... except titles. The text looks like a bad CGA monby relggid - Café LA Re: EMERGENCY - select video gone - 14 years agoThe first thing I tried was trashing the preferences. The problem with that other thread and anything logical is there are still clips within the project that work fine and they were captured using the same camera and have been treated identically as the bad clips. Also, the fact that recapturing seems to work fine. I cannot try these on another computer as I don't have one readily availableby relggid - Café LA Re: EMERGENCY - select video gone - 14 years agoI'm using OSX 10.4.9 and I've been using it for months with no problem. I've also been using Quicktime fine even after upgrading to 7.5.5. I captured the original files from mini-dv directly into FCP and started using them on a project. Then I decided I would copy all of the video files from that hard drive (A) to a separate hard drive (B). Drive B was faster so I put A onto a shelf to be mby relggid - Café LA EMERGENCY - select video gone - 14 years agoI've been working on a project for 2 weeks. DV 720x480 in Final Cut 5.0.4 Suddenly today I opened it but 9 of the 12 source videos are solid green and when I try to play them it says "General Error." I fixed disk permissions, trashed the preferences and restarted the machine but the problem is still there. The weird thing is some of the videos that are still there and play fine weby relggid - Café LA HDV and FCP - 14 years agoI'm using Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 and Quicktime 7.5.5 and I'm completely frustrated. I was just given quicktime files in HDV format which both Quicktime and Final Cut have no problem opening but then they just show a white screen (in Quicktime) or says "Codec not found..." (Final Cut Pro). The files in question are: HDV, 1080p24, 1440x1080, millions, 24 fps. Where can I find a proby relggid - Café LA compression artifacts - 15 years agoI'm not sure what is causing this so I don't know if it is in my FCP (5.0.4) export or a setting within DVD Studio Pro (2.0). The FCP project is 20 minutes, HD 23.98, 960x720, with 2 audio tracks and 2 video tracks. Most of my transitions are showing major artifacting once built through DVD Studio Pro but if I take the same file and put into iDVD, there is no artifacting. I have tried incrby relggid - Café LA Re: uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoOkay, I'm done. All I needed was to upgrade to FCP 5. I still don't know if it was because of the capturing with FCP 5 or because 4.5 doesn't handle all types of HD. It still infuriates me that Apple makes you buy new things with every new software release. For example, I wanted FCP 5 but in order to use that I have to buy their operating system upgrade. They never seem to release softwareby relggid - Café LA Re: uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoYes, it does it in the Viewer as well. Plays a few frames and then freezes (not audio though) until I press stop. Someone else captured it on machine with FCP 5 several months ago and then gave me the footage but I only have 4.5. Can I run FCP 5 on an OSX 10.3.9 system? Or do I have to go to 10.4.4 (and $129)? If I have to go to 10.4.4, is that an upgrade or a full system install? Thaby relggid - Café LA Re: uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoThe quest continues. I guess I'm used to PCs where the system drive always seems to operate faster than any other drive attached. Ok, so I copied the 4-gig test file off of my master drive and over to a separate 200gig internal SATA drive. Same thing happens where Quicktime plays it fine but FCP does not. The files were captured with FCP 5.0. Here are all the stats for the system followedby relggid - Café LA EDLs with footage offline - 16 years agoCan I generate an EDL with just the project file? The drives with the footage are currently offline? Or if I do the EDL will it say "offline" or "missing" or something similar? Thanks, DDby relggid - Café LA Re: uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoHi Shane, Seeing if this new information shed any new light on this situation. Thanks, DDby relggid - Café LA Re: uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoThe 800 isn't the issue. I copied the file to my desktop on my master drive (internal serial ATA) and it still freezes. The audio continues to play even though the video plays a few frames and then freezes. I tried playing them with Quicktime 7.1.5 and both audio & video play perfectly. That is why I'm thinking it is an issue with FCP 4.5 not handling the footage correctly. I created aby relggid - Café LA Re: uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoWere you wanting more information besides that?by relggid - Café LA Re: uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoAll of the drives are Journaled HFS+ -DDby relggid - Café LA Re: uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoYes, it was captured with a firewire 400 into FCP from a Panasonic AJ-HD1200A deck. These are the specs of the footage (960x720; 59.94; DVCPRO HD 720p 60; 48k audio; 13.9MB/sec). I am using a Firewire 800 drive for most of the footage but some clips are on an internal Serial ATA drive. So if it's not uncompressed footage that's the problem, what is it? -DDby relggid - Café LA uncompressd HD freezes - 16 years agoHi, I have uncompressed HD footage that I cannot play without rendering it to a lower res. If I try to play it or scrub through it, it just shows one frame or skips randomly. The footage was digitized uncompressed (DVCPRO HD 720p60 (960x720) ). I'm currently using FCP 4.5. Will upgrading to FCP 5.0 enable me to play this footage? Or do I need to upgrade my video card (currently ATI RAby relggid - Café LA |
