Hi Loren, The eye dropper tool being used on whites has worked wonders for color correcting with my system before. But all of a sudden, nothing happens when I use it now. I did what you said with the mid tones puck, and it worked fine. I do have a relatively new Macbook Pro.by Alex Frey - Café LA

Hello, I have some footage shot under practical fluorescent lighting in a naval ship that is a little off white balance. Because I could see this, I shot a color chart at the beginning of each set-up. So in FCP7, using 3-way color corrector, I use the eye dropper tool to select the white portion of the color chart, but the value in the white doesn't change one bit. Hey all, My Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 quits unexpectedly before it can even open every time I try and open the application. I use a Mac Pro with OS X 10.6.8 I was told to restore the preferences. Hello all, I am working a Media Managing position for an Alexa plus shoot in the near future, and am wondering if my current system will be sufficient to get the job done. Hey all, I know this is a forum for FCP specifically, but I'm sure many of you know the workflow for Canon's 7D, and I can't get a response on dvxuser..... When I connect the 7d to my mac via usb, the drive doesn't pop up on my desktop. Is there a specific mode I need to be in? If I press any button on the 7d, I get a "BUSY" on the top display. Hey Tom, when I select the clip I want to convert in the browser and click DVCPro Frame Rate Converter under the tools tab, either nothing happens (a new clip doesn't show up in the browser) or it tells me that the selected clip cannot be processed by this tool (but the clip it is naming isn't the clip I have selected) Any further instruction would be great =)by Alex Frey - Café LA

burning a DVD from a 25 fps file - 14 years ago
Hello, I have a quicktime h264 file that is 640x360 and plays at 25 fps. I'm wondering how I can put it to DVD using compressor and DVD Studio Pro. I converted the video file to NTSC in compressor, but the audio is off sync because it's still at 25 fps. Is it possible to convert that to 29.97 fps in compressor? Thanks.by Alex Frey - Café LA

I edited a project in FCP for a client(shot with a dvx100a in 24p mode and edited in dv ntsc anamorphic 48k)), and this was his response: The actual video has these lines going through it, the web designer called it artifacts from interlacing or something of the sort. Hey guys I was actually just about to post something relevant to this discussion.... Is there an application that solely converts mov files to wmv files? My client is requesting it, as the mp4 files I gave him from Compressor won't open up on his pc. ridiculous off-sync problems - 15 years ago
Greetings all, I am having a very odd problem I have never had before. A few of my NTSC clips are COMPLETELY off-sync with the audio when viewing them in the FCP viewer. However, when I open the master clips in the finder using Quicktime player, the video and audio are synced up perfectly. Does anyone know why this is happening? Problem with burning DVD in Disc Utility - 16 years ago
Hello, I am using Disc Utility to burn DVDs (it's my only option because I don't have the DVD studio pro files). I successfully burned one DVD after doing the add image process in Disc Utility. But the next 3 have failed. It gets past the closing session process and then it goes to verify, and then fails about half way through with the message failed to verify. Hey thanks for the response Derek. The problem is, when I export from Compressor with the 720x486 frame size, I get a really ugly and pixellated file. Is there something I need to change with the frame rate or pixel aspect ratio or something? The master is encoded in DVC Pro HD, 23.98 fps, 1080i60.by Alex Frey - Café LA

Thanks for the response Shane! The only problem is when I bring my self-contained QT file and drop it into a DV/NTSC timeline and render, I get a 4x3 image letterboxed to 16x9. Then if I change the sequence settings to anamorphic, it gives me a native 16x9 image letterboxed to what looks like 2.35:1 and its squisshed. Do I just have to live with the 4x3 letterbox? Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to make a standard def quicktime file from my HD master, which is encoded in DVC Pro HD. Everytime I try doing it in quicktime pro using the DV codec I get this ugly pixellated file. Are there certain steps I am missing? Hello all, I am currently having trouble converting MXF files to MOV files that I can edit at full resolution in FCP. Whenever I hit import in the XD CAM transfer application, it makes mov files that have very tiny resolution and are the wrong aspect ratio. Someone told me that only FCP5 supports 24p. Is this true? Because I captured DVX100a footage shot on 24p standard using FCP4 and it doesnt look like other DVX footage I've seen, so could using FCP4 be the problem?by Alex Frey - Café LA
