Click HERE to register now jittering stills when in motion with keyframes - 14 years agoHi all, I am experiencing some jittering when I tried to pan/move a still (jpg,72dpi) across the screen/canvas using keyframes and ease-in/ease-out feature. I trashed prefs., re-rendered, changed file format from jpg to tiff, set rendering at best quality, dynamic rate, field dominance to None. Nothing seemed to work. The motion looks smooth only at 25%. Any tips to solve the problem wiby JohnT - DVD Studio Pro Re: rendering text - 15 years agoHi Kevin, I always have Canvas and Viewer at 100%. The problem I mentioned was actually a rendered/compressed file that I output for test viewing. I have FCS2 running fine right now. Hopefully it will solve the problem when I output the file to DVD. Thank you though. JohnTby JohnT - Café LA Re: Unable to submit to queue - 15 years agoHi Gerard, I did a fresh reinstallation of OSX and FCP. Everything is working fine now. I guess what happened was I installed FCS2 over a previous version that I didn't install the full application program. "I wish I knew what I know now." And yes, I have moved up in town: a brand new G5 and FCS2. Believe it not. Also my film is almost done and I have your name along with someby JohnT - Café LA Re: Unable to submit to queue - 15 years agoI'll call Apple support first before I do anything. Since I have a new computer, I was thinking about erase the whole hard drive and install from fresh FC Studio. I could try to follow the steps from Apple doc. but, there are too many things to do. If i missed something , I'd have to start all over again because I wouln't know what I did wrong or missed, you know. It is not that simple, huh?by JohnT - Café LA Unable to submit to queue - 15 years agoHi everyone, I'm back here with a problem. Compressor gives me a message: :Unable to queue. Please restart your computer or verify your Compressor installation is correct". Do you guys experience this problem before? If so, please tell me how to fix it. Thanks a bunch. I should have thought about this before jumping on LAFCPUG. Like they say: Work and no fun, make the little boy numb. So, case solved. Thanks for the quick reply. You guys are the greatest. JohnTby JohnT - Café LA FCP won't launch - 15 years agoHi everyone, I have been using FCP 5.0.4 without any problem. Somehow I open the program today and It just wouldn't launch. When I launch the program, it seems that the program tries to open for a few second and then disappear completely from the screen. Does anyone experience this problem or have any clues, please help. It's good to know what i can do and what I need help with. I like what I have right now. Like Shane mentioned, I guess what I need is a sound mixer just to make my DVD sound better, more professional. Koz, your info is really helpful. I really didn't know how to make a real appropriate question. This is my first time putting out a DVD for a documentary film. Compressor gave me 2 options: AIFF and Dolby. When I run the DVD, the Dolby sound does not sound surround sound and even the stereo AIFF sounds plain. 1)I wonder if I need a different software to make my DVD sound profesionally such as Hollby JohnT - Café LA Sound question - 15 years agoHow do I make my film sounds like real movie? Thank you for any tips.by JohnT - Café LA Re: Music keys - 16 years agoThanks. Martin. I could not find the feature you mentioned under Project tab. I found the keys setting for projects under "Preferences". I am not sure how it will help me achieve what I am trying to. I guess I have to be more specific: The music/song I have is at a low key, let say A. I want to raise the song to C to match the vocal or to make it sound better. Would I be able to doby JohnT - Café LA Music keys - 16 years agoHi Everybody. Can we change the keys for songs/soundtracks in SoundtrackPro? Any tips wpould be very much appreciated. JohnTby JohnT - Café LA Re: Funny thing happens when rendering - 16 years agoHi Joe, How do I find out what sequence codec I use? I was tryiing to get better quality by using "render all YUV material in high precision YUV". RGB nad 8bit YUV are OK but not "render all YUV material in high precision YUV". Only the text and graphics had weird green things around them.by JohnT - Café LA Funny thing happens when rendering - 16 years agoA funny thing happened when I rendering a sequence at "render all YUV material in high precision YUV". The image is OK, only the text and graphics I built in FCP. It looks like this still image here attached. Everything looked fine when rendered in RGB or 8bit YUV. Does anyone have any ideas how this happened?by JohnT - Café LA Re: Render every time - 16 years agoI work on this project for almost 3 years now. I learnt FCP while working on the project. So a lot of things don't really match and so, as I was messing around with the program. Like they say: I wish I knew what I know now. I'm just gonna continue to render every time until this job is done. I've gone so far already rendering every time. I still like to know for the learning sake however.by JohnT - Café LA Re: Render every time - 16 years agoHi Michael, I did check out FAQ. Too bad that doesn't exist anymore. I guess it is because my clips are 720x480 and my sequence setting is 680x480. What doesn't make sense to me is the photos set at 680x480 still need to be rendered everytime. I try to match all the settings but I don't see a default setting for 680x480 in the User Preferences.by JohnT - Café LA Render every time - 16 years agoHi guys, Do you all have to render every change you make? I do and I am using FCP5. My friend has FCP6 and he doesn't have to render every time he put a new clip onto the timeline or any change he makes or whatsoever? Does sound weird to you all? Is it a FCP5 thing? does it have anything with my settings? Help! JohnTby JohnT - Café LA Re: DeEsser - 16 years agoHi guys, I learnt a lot from this discussion. Thank you all. J.Corbett, Screw the DeEsser. And yes, I'll go to bed with the arranged spouse. This attittude worked pretty well for me when I don't want to be perfect on something. I know how teby JohnT - Café LA Re: DeEsser - 16 years agoSome songs I listen to have different levels of S sounds. There may not be a "standard"? Is it more more about personal "ears", "taste"? As long as the S sounds don't annoy people ears, too pronounced or so? Johnby JohnT - Café LA Re: DeEsser - 16 years agoThanks, Strypes. I'll try sound on sound. I'd like to know how you all think the S sounds in a song are good/acceptable technically as a "standard". I use DeEsser filter in Final Cut Pro. The problem is when I get the S sounds to the desired level, I lose the integrity of the voice. JohnTby JohnT - Café LA DeEsser - 16 years agoHow to make DeEsser filter work effectively? Any tips would be appreciated.by JohnT - Café LA Re: Distortion - 16 years agoHi guys, It seems like there's not much I could do, doesn't it? And I thought I didn't try enough. It was a voice of a man I interviewed. His voice jumped quickly from low, deep to loud and high unpredictably , yet naturally. Lowering the volume helped. Low-pass helped. But the distortion is still there if I want to keep the integrity of the voice. Again, we are talking about perfection orby JohnT - Café LA Distortion - 16 years agoHi everyone, I am back here with a question for audio. I have tried and I didn't get much satisfaction with FCP. Therefore I had to jump on here fro help. I have soundtrack (FCP5), but I heard STPro is much more pro. One more question before I left this thread with a "question resolved". What are the settings of Reverb and EQ that are satisfying to you guys or what is spacious ambiance to you guys?
