I've tried the quick fix on Quicktime before but from what I remember, when you save it, it changes the file from mpg4 to mov and I want to keep the file as the original mpg4. I haven't tried the Final Cut filter cause from research I've done people say it's not that good. I think changing the field dominance to "none" which is what I was going to do, is the same asby A.Bejar - Café LA Compressor Deinterlace Blues - 9 years agoI have an older project I'm trying to convert for Vimeo VOD. It's on FC6 and it's SD. I used Compressor to make an MP4 file, about 10gbs, and it worked. However, I did not deinterlace so it doesn't look good. I've tried to make a new file checking Compressor's deinterlace box in Frame Controls and it has crashed a few times after about 24 to 36 hours of running. Then, I tried using Quicktime Coby A.Bejar - Café LA Correction - 13 years agoOK, I'm having a personal thread here but thought I'd share. Ignore the previous post. The sync is holding up when I convert to H264, 1220 x 720, which is my what I'm going to use to on YouTube. It goes out of sync when I make a self-contained QT movie from the full HD ProRes timeline. So, problem solved, sort of, since I don't need the self contained file for now. alfby A.Bejar - Café LA SOLUTION TO OUT OF SYNC SOUND! - 13 years agoI found a post on Creative Cow where someone had the same problem. They removed some extra audio clips they had at the beginning of the timeline and the problem was solved. As a test, I removed I removed clips I used for sound editing, room tone, etc., and kept only the direct sound. Alas, no sync problem. Don't know what the specific cause is but very interesting. It doesn't seem to have aby A.Bejar - Café LA PS:: Out of sync sound when exporting FCP 5d footage - 13 years agoThe original 5d footage to was converted to ProRes 422 for editing. The picture was shot at 30 fps on the Canon. I recorded separate audio on a Zoom HN4 and Tascam recorder and synched it up manually. Works fine on the timeline (29.97). The client needs a QT file for uploading to YouTube. I've done a straight -self-contained- QT conversion and it goes out of sync. I've done a test oby A.Bejar - Café LA Re: Converting ProRes to DVDVCPro - 13 years agoWe'll probably stay at 29.97 and not to 24p. The original footage includes 16mm and mini-DV. I did not retransfer from 16mm because the negatives were lost. So, Beta SP is all we have for the 16mm. I only became involved with this project a couple of weeks ago. So I will offline with the DV/DVCPro I converted. When finished editing, I'll bring it into a FCP 7 system, reconnect to the originby A.Bejar - Café LA Re: Converting ProRes to DVDVCPro - 13 years agoThanks, Derek. Why do I need to go back to the ProRes files? Can't I just stay on the new converted DV/DVCPro files for the rest of the workflow? Alfby A.Bejar - Café LA Converting ProRes to DVDVCPro - 13 years agoHello, I've been dealing with a problem for a couple of days and want to double check if my solution is ok. I've been hired to re-edit a short film from 10 years ago from footage on BetaSP (transferred from 16mm and mini-dv). Unfortunatly, I'm still working on FCP 5. The dub house made a mistake and gave me ProRes files, which I cant' use in FCP 5 (I can import them they need to be rendby A.Bejar - Café LA FCP 5 can't read HDV files - 14 years agoHello, I'm doing a instructional health video for the web and just got some files from my camera person. We shot with a Sony Z7. She captured the files onto FCP 6 and gave me QT files that are 1440 x 1080, HDV 1080p30. I'm using FCP 5.0.4. When I try to open the files I get the audio but no picture. To color correct, I split it up into five separate sequences by copying and pasting all the clips from the main video track. I used 3-way color corrector, sometimes desaturate and gausian blur. When I capture, the anamorphic box is checked on the browser settings and I have to uncheck it. I read the 16:9 segment on strypes link. Capture and sequence settings are set to dv-ntsc, 48 khz, , device is firewire NTSC, Video Playback Apple Firewiere 720 x 480. When I play them back on a Sony DSR 25 to capture, they looked squeezed, like 16:9, on the LCD monitors on the deck and my editing station after capture but not squeezed on an NTSC CRT monitor. Aslo, I thought Tiff was better than JPEG in FCP, does it make that much difference? alfby A.Bejar - Café LA Changing Tiff to QT in Timeline - 15 years agoHello All, I have searched the database but now found and answer to what I think is an easy question. I need to convert large tiff image files on the timeline of a long doc project to QT codecs to lighten up the load. I've converted them using Save As QT Movie but notice on the Get Info pop up they are still listed as Tiff codecs. Same thing happens when exporting to DV/DVCPro. He says there is software for Avid to compare lists and tell him where the changes are. Is there software for FC that does the same thing? I have FCP 5. I've searched the database and can't find any posts on this topic. Thanks, alfby A.Bejar - Café LA Re: Scary Audio instruction - 16 years agoOops. I just figured out the computer's menus became audible because it's giving me audio messages for everything. I guess there's an option somewhere. Anybody ever hear that? alfby A.Bejar - Café LA Re: Converting 93.93 to 93.97 fps - 17 years agoYou are right. There is no 93.97. I meant to post 29.93 and 29.97 fps. Seems I had a bout of dyslexia. My apologies for the confusion. alfby A.Bejar - Café LA Re: Converting 93.93 to 93.97 fps - 17 years agoI can now see the files. It seems the problem was not with the capture since no matter how many times I captured, with deck and camera, the same consistet problem occurred. I then deleted the imported files. I restarted the computer and re-imported the files. Still not sure what happened. Hopefully it's just a bug in FCP. I'm having trouble reading captured video files which show up in the finder as complete Quicktime files but are only partially read in the viewer. The Quicktime Files say they are 93.93 fps. I don't know how this happened but must have recorded them that way by mistake. I have captured about 40 tapes recorded on the same camera(DVX 100A) and using the same deck (DSR 25) and this only happened on a couple of the last tapes I captured. When I play the file in the viewer it only sees a few seconds or the first shot. I've re-captured several times and trashed preferences and the same thing happens. When I oby A.Bejar - Café LA |
