This problem JUST started - never had it before.by otherpaw - Café LA Gamma/Luma Shift with Titles - 13 years agoHi I am on FCP 6.0.6, QT 7.6.6. I have the same problem whether on my MacBook Pro or QuadCore Power PC. Working in 10.5.8. I am having what my husband tells me is a very very old school FCP problem - and a search of the archives here confirms that this problem has existed for at least 9 years. But it's the first time I've encountered it in many years of working in FCP... and problem is, nonby otherpaw - Café LA Re: Compress Dailies with 23.98 Timecode - 14 years agoHooray, batch export works! I couldn't access it from the File menu for some reason - grayed out. But available with the good old right click. Thank you! I don't know *why* Compressor TC is off for my 23.98 footage. But it is. Being able to batch export from FCP using the TC Reader makes a big difference. Thanks!by otherpaw - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: Compress Dailies with 23.98 Timecode - 14 years ago'If the TC filter in FCP is a 'generator' and not a reader, is there a way to set the first frame of TC for an accurate export?' My error - I meant the TC filter in Compressor. And I read on a Compressor page in apple that this is not possible. Why is the TC Compressor is reading not accurate? And, is there a way to batch export sequences from FCP (with FCP TC reader filter applied)?by otherpaw - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: Compress Dailies with 23.98 Timecode - 14 years agoAlso, I've checked out QTSync (doesn't seem to work for my purposes) and can't afford ProxyMill at the moment...by otherpaw - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Compress Dailies with 23.98 Timecode - 14 years agoHi, I am on an Intel MacBook Pro, 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, OS 10.5.6, FCP 6.0.5. I shot on a Panasonic HMC150. QT version 7.6. I have about 80 hours of 23.98 720PN footage orginated AVCHD, now transcoded to ProRes, that I need to compress with source TC burn for transcription. Needless to say, this will be very timeconsuming if I have to use the timecode reader in FCP. Once I unclicked that, it allowed me to save and it worked! It worked! It worked! THANK YOU!!by otherpaw - Café LA Re: Subtitling Workflow - 15 years agoI am SO CLOSE!! Andreas, thank you HUGELY for the incredibly helpful step-by-step. My text tab file doesn't seem to have the extra 'words' after the text you describe... However, I am now able to import it to mTool, along with the empty sequence XML, and get the contents to list in your markerTool main window! There it all is - track (listed 0), name, comment, seq in, seq out, duration. Aby otherpaw - Café LA Re: Subtitling Workflow - 15 years agoNope, still can't get text file into markerTool. I have an HD 1080 24P feature, NDF timecode, that needs to be subtitled in French in Final Cut 6.0.2. Our translator will be working from an Excel spotting list that has TC in and TC out of each shot with its English dialogue. We will end up with a spotting list that has TC in and TC out with the french dialogue. I am not savvy with regard computer science or code. But the problem does not seem to be with the cards - footage plays back fine in camera and transcodes directly from cards (via the card reader) without a problem. I bought a new, Sony card reader and it didn't make any difference -- just glitched the footage in brand new places. Help!!by otherpaw - Café LA Re: Footage Glitching When Copied From Card - 15 years agoThanks. Do these programs verify QUALITY (ie whether there have been hits or errors or introduced artifacting) or just whether copy has completed? Doesn't FCP verify completion as well? At least, "Archive complete" comes up at the end of the transfer... but that's not so helpful if the archive is complete, but completely messed up!by otherpaw - Café LA Footage Glitching When Copied From Card - 15 years agoHello all, I'm working on a documentary and shooting footage on the Panasonic HMC150, an AVCHD camera. Shooting on SDHC class 4 cards. I'm encountering a problem with some of the footage. It shoots to the cards fine, but when I copy the cards to the hard drive - EITHER via FCP 'Archive to Folder' in the Log & Transfer window OR at finder level - the footage on some (not all) of the caby otherpaw - Café LA Re: Quality loss going from AIC to ProRes 422? - 15 years agoI shot on the Panasonic HMC 150 and have been transcoding to ProRes 422 with no problem... except for this one card. I'd of course rather find a way to transcode the .MTS files directly to ProRes 422 without going through an intermediate codec (literally).by otherpaw - Café LA Quality loss going from AIC to ProRes 422? - 15 years agoHi all - I have a directory problem with some AVCHD footage and my FCP is not recognizing the files. There is a program called Voltaic that will convert raw .MTS files without the directory. It only converts to AIC Quicktimes, however. Would there be loss in quality bringing those files into ProRes 422? Someone mentioned Toast 10 might also be able to convert raw MTS files - to ProReby otherpaw - Café LA Re: Log & Transfer Question - "Audio Mixed Down to Stereo" - 15 years agoThank you!!by otherpaw - Café LA Re: AVCHD workflow and ERROR MESSAGE - 15 years agoOkay, it seems that this program Voltaic HD can transcode the .MTS files without the rest of the directory: It's super slow, supposedly, but if it works it's better than losing the footage. Problem is - it only converts to Apple Intermediate Codec. If it works - once I get the AIC Quicktimes - how do I convert those to ProRes 422 in FCP? And will there be a quality loss? Thanks.by otherpaw - Café LA Log & Transfer Question - "Audio Mixed Down to Stereo" - 15 years agoHi all - Specs: Intel MacBook Pro, 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, Mac OS 10.5.6, FCP 6.0.5, QT 7.6. I shot on a Panasonic HMC150. QT version 7.6. I am transcoding to ProRes 422 in FCP. It's a 16 GB Kingston class 4 card. Any thoughts would be MOST welcome as it's not a reproducible shoot!by otherpaw - Café LA AVCHD workflow and ERROR MESSAGE - 15 years agoHi all - I just started working with AVCHD footage. Yes, I know the transcoding is a bear. I'm looking for a good workflow summary? I've been reading P2 workflows and imagine it's similar in theory - but what pitfalls are there specific to AVCHD? For example, I just got my first major error message and I'm worried. I mounted my card, log and transfer, and get: "NO NAME" coby otherpaw - Café LA Re: HDV vs AVCHD vs P2 DVCPro HD - 15 years agoGood to hear, Michael. Re: the Firestore - after some reading I think that given the amount of run and gun we'll be doing, using wireless mics, it might not be the best option for us. But thanks so much for the suggestion - another potential addition to the toolset.by otherpaw - Café LA Re: HDV vs AVCHD vs P2 DVCPro HD - 15 years agoAha! More feed for the fire. Thanks. I was reviewing these posts earlier and realized I'd kinda skimmed over the Firestore suggestion, investigated it, got stopped with the price tag... but now that I've been told more will revisit. I've never used Log and Transfer, having always worked with tape. Does it provide a lot more necessary information for your clips than straight import? Theby otherpaw - Café LA Re: HDV vs AVCHD vs P2 DVCPro HD - 15 years agoI was looking at the JVC HM100 as a good option - love the easy access to FCP and the price - but the folks at DVinfo keep saying it's not a good choice for shooting indoors in available light and that's pretty much all we're going to be doing on this project. I'll check out the HM700 but imagine it'll be too big/bulky for what my director wants. I feel as if I'm in a Shakespeare play... everby otherpaw - Café LA Re: HDV vs AVCHD vs P2 DVCPro HD vs XDCAM - 15 years agoArgh. This is sounding like a nightmare. Is there any transcode that DOES preserve the UIDs and reel names? Time is money, yes, but nobody on this job is getting paid (at least not yet)... Also, on the HMC150 I meant the best price for the best visual quality, not best price overall. If AVCHD were easy to edit, this would be an easy decision. If I could afford P2 cards, it would be anby otherpaw - Café LA |
