I find that I get beautiful DVDs from XDCAMEX files using standard "Best for 90 min" compression settings - when the file is short. When I tried an hour long file compressor put in a pulsing, intermittent, compression artifact thing in 2 or 3 sections of the video. It lasted for 1 or 2 minutes, and just pulsed like 2 times a second for a minute. But what does one need to do to export QT NTSC Video out od lightwave? Does anyone know what may be causing the problem? I'd like to get a consistent workflow going with my 3D guy. Chadby Chadfish - Café LA Lightwave 3D exports acting Strange in FCP - 17 years agoHi there! I'm not a Lightwave user. I do video in Final Cut Pro Studio 2. I work at an ad agency with a 3D guy who gives me some .mov & .avi files to put in with my video projects. We have been having a problem both he and I can not wrap out little minds around and I am hoping someone here can help. It seems my client is having trouble playing my +R DVD on his work PC, an older make. It plays fine on my PC, and my Mac. He needs to play it to tell me if he wants any changes. He will be doing 100-200 copies, probably "duplicated" not "replicated&by Chadfish - DVD Studio Pro Re: What format 8.5gig DVD for large projects? - 17 years agoAs it turned out, I tried it again with a different compression setting, and it worked with one of my "Double" layer discs. Also strangely I didn't have the target set on the PLAY button, but it worked when I tested it in my DVD player!!! So I thought it was fine. When the client couldn't play it I looked at the project again and noticed the target was not set. Don't ask me how it playeby Chadfish - DVD Studio Pro Re: What format 8.5gig DVD for large projects? - 17 years agoAnother question: When doing a build/format on a double layer DVD should I set the layer to "Dual"? There is no "Double" setting. Thanks again Chadby Chadfish - DVD Studio Pro What format 8.5gig DVD for large projects? - 17 years agoHi I have a client with an almost 3 hour seminar I just edited. I am authoring in DVD Studio Pro. I don't want to compress the footage too much, so I'd like to burn it on to a larger DVD. ? I bought some Memorex "Double Layer DVD=R DL Double capacity Single Sided" DVDs. Thanks Chadby Chadfish - Café LA Re: Export File Segment Size - 2Gig Limit? - 17 years agoHey Ben I did try the "DV NTSC 48" setting under "Quick time Movie" method of making a file from the timeline, and it does the same thing. I get 2 gig files. I don't think it's a hard drive formatting thing, as I am able to make large files during capture. I have my capture/export limit set to 4300mb. It's the same setting for both capture and export, so I am confused whby Chadfish - Café LA Re: Export File Segment Size - 2Gig Limit? - 17 years agoBTW I am using: Mac OS 10.4.11 Mac Pro 2 x 3 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Memory: 5 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM FCP 6 Updated to now. I'll try exporting without using "Current Settings" later and see what I get. I'm busy trying to fix a client's cluster f*&$ of a project at the moment. Never let a client capture and start editing his own project! It's a drag to untangle the mess... Thanks Chadby Chadfish - Café LA Re: Export File Segment Size - 2Gig Limit? - 17 years agoHi Derek I'm not familiar with the "Pennsylvania Polka". ? The same thing happens on different drive, and different projects. ? Uncompressed QT File: Yes ? Using QT Conversion: No ????????? Will this Polka you speak of help me????????? Chadby Chadfish - Café LA Re: Export File Segment Size - 2Gig Limit? - 17 years agoHey Derek, Ben My (External) Hare Drive is formatted Mac OS Extended. Also I have set my export file size Limit to 4300mb, so I can make DVDs later. I have been using "Make Quicktime Movie" with no luck, but my work around is export using Quicktime Conversion, with DV/NTSC settings. Does that sound normal? Shouldn't exporting uncompressed QT movies have the same limits as when usby Chadfish - Café LA Export File Segment Size - 2Gig Limit? - 17 years agoHi In my system settings, under "Scratch Disc", I have my "Limit Capture/Export File Segment Size To:" set to 4300MB. While capturing my files are made to be that size. My problem is when I'm exporting Uncompressed Quicktime Movies. They are coming out in 2gig chunks. This makes no sense to me as I have set the size to larger. It is lame that they don't have some sort of "Optimize" or "Fit to Disc" command to keep things simple and make sure you don't over compress - to get the most resolution on a 4.7 gig disc. I have a 2hr 40 min uncompressed quicktime file that comes in at 6.9 gigs. I have a DVD project all ready to burn. I just can't remember where the setting is that allows me to fit the project to a standard 4.7gig disc. I've done it before, but it's been a while. Short of exporting to Sountrack pro foe major mastering FCP would bennifet from one simple addition: A master Effects section. ? It would allow a user to place a limiter / ultramaximiser at the end of the audio chain without making a seperate sequence. ? It would save time for simpleby Chadfish - Café LA |
