Well.... after many years of being an FCP editor (since version 1), I sadly downloaded a free 30 day version of Avid 5.5. I still have high hopes for what FCP can bring in the future, but sitting and hoping does not do anything to my deadlines and project list. Being as up to speed as possible with Avid when my beloved FCP stations start collapsing is all I can do. - I see it as an opportunityby alexedit - Café LA - X

Joe Brown: Patience is a virtue, but what do you do while you wait? - Right now I do not see myself doing any system updates or even upgrade to Lion since FCP will most provably have bugs running on Lion. All this means that my FCS3 system will be "old" within just a few months (five months or less) The thing is that THEY HAVE to stop dumbing stuff down. Ok - so I think it has been established by many that FCP-X is not a professional tool that will let us continue to work the right way. So my question is: (poll) - what are you looking at? 1) Stay with Final Cut X and just work around its issues? 2) Move to Avid? 3) Move to Adobe Premiere Pro? 4) Move to a different Editing System? 5) Don't know yet Please share your thoughby alexedit - Café LA - X

For those that used Discreet Edit: Does this bring back memories? Discreet had THE BEST editing software I had ever seen and right when it got better....BAM!!! pulled the lever! WTF is wrong with these companies man. On an unrelated news: Avid sales go through the roof as the company prepares for a flood of new customers. Ok - so my fpc was working fine. I installed the latest update and fpv is now slow and the text is doing something really weird, it looks like barcode. Anyone having issues with the latest update?by alexedit - Café LA

Hi - I have a 45 second video I need to export from FPC. I've never encountered something like this. I am exporting it 1280 x 720 @ 59.94 Apple ProRes 422 HQ. Only 18 exact seconds export. Any thoughts? - no in/out on the timeline - Exports the whole 45 when i export as "current settings" FCP 7.02 OSX.6.4 Raw Footage: 960x720 @23.98 DVCPro HD 720p60 (P2)by alexedit - Café LA

I remember there being a "hack" to make FCP chime after the render was done. Kind of like after effects. Does anyone know how to make FCP play a sound after the render is done?by alexedit - Café LA

Hi - So everytime I go to File+Import and try to import stuff into fcp, it always goes to the same exact folder. It's a folder from a project I worked on months ago. Why is this? what mandates the first place FCP looks into for importing stuff?by alexedit - Café LA

then I really don't understand. Why would you NOT use it as a media storage drive? and why does it make more sense to use flash drives? I'm confused. Are you saying is not a good idea to make the DroboPro a scratch drive?by alexedit - Café LA
