If not, I'll run it on a drive of it's own and add new plugins as time goes on.by Greaser - Café LA - X Re: Plugins and Upgrading to FCP X - 13 years agoSeriously? Boris? FxFactory? Idustrial? Boinx?by Greaser - Café LA - X Plugins and Upgrading to FCP X - 13 years agoCan someone clue me in, if they know, as to how I will be able to upgrade to X and not have to re-install all my non Apple plugins? Thanks for any help.by Greaser - Café LA - X Selling FCP Studio - Questions - 13 years agoWhat do I need to do to sell my version of FCP Studio 3? How do I give up the license, so that the buyer doesn't have a problem registering it and getting future upgrades? Thanks for any help.by Greaser - Café LA Slideshow - What Format? - 13 years agoI've taken on another slideshow, this time for the seniors of a local HS. It's for their grad banquet and they'll each be receiving a take home DVD that I have to provide. One of the mistakes I made in a previous one was not selecting the appropriate format for the initial setup. This ended up with the show being stretched out on the screen. I have no info on the screen that they'll be playingby Greaser - Café LA Can't get "Import into Project" to Work - 13 years agoI'm going through some Ripple Training tutorials and in one of them it describes how to export an image and also have it "Import into Project". When I do this it does not show up in the layers palette. I've saved to different places which doesn't help. I've also check these different places and there's no saved images there. I've made sure to select the appropriate layer, before exportiby Greaser - Motion Re: Critique Please - Spec Trailer - 13 years agoDerek, Thanks for the critique, it really helps. I first brought all the scenes into FCP then moved them and cut them accordingly, to where I thought was right. I didn't have anyone to bounce ideas off, so I guess tunnel vision set in. I believe I limited my scenes down too soon. Once they were set I started playing with the audio track and that only further stifled my creativity. I felt boxeby Greaser - Show and Tell Critique Please - Spec Trailer - 13 years agoI was hoping to get a critique on my first spec trailer. Took about 2 weeks time. How long would one normally get? I still have not seen the original trailer as I'm afraid that it would influence my thoughts. I stripped the music track from the opening scene as it was imbedded and then added the same music from the soundtrack, yet allowed it to extend for the length of the trailer. I am awareby Greaser - Show and Tell Re: How can I Delete Music, but Not Voice? - 13 years agoHi Frank. Thanks, that was a great idea, but I don't think I have such a player. It does support 5.1, but I don't think that it has the outputs you speak of. Then again maybe I do. Have a look for yourself.by Greaser - Café LA Re: How can I Delete Music, but Not Voice? - 13 years agoJude, very nice to say the least. Must take a lot of time composing a piece like that, not to mention the talent and the mind to envision such a pleasing opus.by Greaser - Café LA Re: How can I Delete Music, but Not Voice? - 13 years agoThanks, that's what I thought. In the real world I assume that I'd get all separate tracks and clips, correct? Music, Voice, Narration, Video, etc...by Greaser - Café LA How can I Delete Music, but Not Voice? - 13 years agoI'm working on a project that I've given myself, a trailer. I took it from a dvd. The problem that I'm having in one scene is with the music track that was added in the original. How can I strip out the music, yet leave in the audio dialog that takes place at the same time? Is there a tutorial around for this? I'm almost finished and just final tweaking. The scene is one of the most dramatic iby Greaser - Café LA Re: What Hardware do you use for Scrubbing? - 13 years agoGreat, thanks guys. I'll probably head over to the Apple Store tomorrow and give one a try. Strypes, I had a Wacom years ago, Graphite, and I never could get used to it, so I sold it. I'll take the Trackpad for a ride and see if it's for me before I try a Wacom again. Tonyby Greaser - Café LA Re: What Hardware do you use for Scrubbing? - 13 years agoThanks Tom. As a matter or fact I just found a video on the Trackpad and looks like a great alternative. Did it take long getting used to? I haven't had a new laptop in years, so I don't even have a clue as far as most gestures and I only know a couple on my Touch. How is it on the wrists? Did you end up dumping your mouse completely? Thanks for the input.by Greaser - Café LA What Hardware do you use for Scrubbing? - 13 years agoJust curious what type of hardware people here use for scrubbing once media's downloaded. Shuttle Pro v2? Magic Mouse? Other? I get fatigued using my mouse and would like something with a knob or wheel. Thanks for any suggestions. Tonyby Greaser - Café LA Re: Film Editing - What to Study? - 13 years agoThat's great, will do. Since I'm currently unemployed, would approaching a "trailer producer" and say I'll work for free, just to gain experience seem crazy. I have my own equipment at home if it helps.by Greaser - Show and Tell Film Editing - What to Study? - 13 years agoAt this point in my life I can't afford the time or cash to go back to school. Hopefully things will change in the next few years. I do have a BA in photo and hopefully I can apply that somewhere here. What I can do at this time is keep pushing my experience with FCP, Motion, etc. I have plenty of Lynda and other tut's as far as mechanics, so I'm good there. This along with reading whatever I canby Greaser - Show and Tell Re: DB Differences from Music to Voice?? + - 13 years agoGreat tip, thanks Randy. Or I guess I could turn it on and then go sit on the pot... hmmm maybe not.by Greaser - Café LA Re: Incorrect Aspect Ratio - Can I change it? - 13 years agoGot it. Thanks a lot.by Greaser - Café LA Re: Incorrect Aspect Ratio - Can I change it? - 13 years agoMine was set to 16:9, do I change that to 4:3?by Greaser - Café LA Re: DB Differences from Music to Voice?? + - 13 years agoNow I feel like a complete dope. I picked up a digital voice recorder (Olympus DS-2) a few years ago for meetings. It's been sitting in a drawer for more than a year including the day of my shoot. I did shoot in an empty school chapel btw, but the sound was dead if you know what I mean, no echo at all. The camera was just too far, as the teacher wanted the background also. As I said the teacheby Greaser - Café LA Incorrect Aspect Ratio - Can I change it? - 13 years agoI have a cheap SD video camera (Canon ZR930) that I shot my footage on. The current project that I'm working on is going to be presented on a projector screen (16:9) via standard DVD player in a classroom. I previewed my project their this morning and for my first I guess that it's so so (can't wait to step up to an HD cam). What bothers me the most is the fact that it's stretching the image out;by Greaser - Café LA Re: DB Differences from Music to Voice?? + - 13 years agoThanks. The music I chose is a very soft ambient glockenspiel, non distracting.by Greaser - Café LA Re: DB Differences from Music to Voice?? + - 13 years agoUnfortunately the voices were shot along with the video footage, not separate. No lapel mic or other, just the cheapo built-in mic on the cheapo SD camera that I have, so I get all the other presents that come with it ie. hiss, un-HD focus / color saturation, etc, but it's great for learning right?by Greaser - Café LA Re: OT - Attack of the As? Mail is showing As instead of E-mail content? - 13 years agoDan, I had the same problem a while back and found Little Snitch to be the culprit. If you are using Little Snitch, check for a rule under Mail that blocks ports 80 & 443. Does this behavior happen if you sign in with another User? Preferably Guest or a Brand New User. Also does this behavior happen with all emails or just a select number of emails? Think common things, Same Mail accountby Greaser - Café LA DB Differences from Music to Voice?? + - 13 years agoI'm still working on my Grandparents Day project that has video, stills and an additional music track. Basically, it's kids that have been interviewed and while that's going on images will PIP next to them in addition to background music. I'm just curious if there's a loose standard for what the difference should be between the voice and the music. The teacher that I did this for seems veryby Greaser - Café LA Re: Slightly OT - Headphone Recommendation Please - 13 years agoDan, Thanks and that makes a lot of sense. Perfect analogy btw. I didn't intend to use these to get nit picky, just for isolation. The bummer about being in a home shared office for me is no chance of having a real bay, so I have to deal with the excess light and the noise when the kids come home, not to mention that I get distracted very easily. I'm trying to find remedies for each of these. Iby Greaser - Café LA |
