So I'm right back where I started.by videowallah - Café LA Re: FCP won't start, did everything listed in wiki! - 15 years agoIt stopped installing halfway through, saying that the install discs were damaged. I don't see any obvious scratch on that disc or anything. Contact applecare?by videowallah - Café LA Re: FCP won't start, did everything listed in wiki! - 15 years agoYes, it's legit -- we have two copies bought by the company I work for, one from 18 mos ago (that's the one that's causing probs, and also missing the install discs) and one from about 6 mos ago (for the laptop). Would reinstalling with the 'laptop' discs and the 'old' desktop serial number work?by videowallah - Café LA Re: FCP won't start, did everything listed in wiki! - 15 years agop.s. I plugged in the USB drive to the laptop (with the diff serial FCP) and loaded an FCP project from a flash drive and it seemed fine, leading me to think there's no corruption in the media or the projects, just something about FCP on my desktop mac.by videowallah - Café LA FCP won't start, did everything listed in wiki! - 15 years agoI was working on FCP 6 this morning just fine with a USB 2 drive, and then plugged in an additional firewire drive to look for a file. FW drive was corrupt and refused to transfer files, so I shut down, removed it and restarted. Since then, FCP won't load. I have done everything listed here, I swear: (except the RAM bit -- the project files I have, which are stored on the Mac and not the Uby videowallah - Café LA audio goes missing between FCP & STP - found workaround but still confused - 16 years agoArgh. My company just paid for me to do the Apple Certification in STP (which I passed), and I'm already lost on my first attempt to use the program. I'm running FCP6 on an iMac with OS 10.5.4. I've got a 2min PAL DV project of 5 interviews all taken from the same tape. When I export as multitrack project, it sees my music on channels 3/4, but only sees like 3 random interview clips. I duplicaby videowallah - Soundtrack Pro Re: Final Cut Studio 2 questions - 17 years ago"One thing I really miss from Avid (hate to say it) is being able to slip/slide trim with several clips on the same track at the same time" Hmmm, I came across this post while searching the archives for how to do exactly this. I've got HUNDREDS of edits that have gone out of sync (music video --- silent digibeta footage, matched up to separate audio file) due to a lame-ass non-controby videowallah - Café LA problem solved, weirdly - 17 years agoMy boss decided to change the name of the original file, re-import it, and then we changed the names back to the originals and everything seems to appear just fine now. I wouldn't have thought of that. We're baffled.by videowallah - Café LA Re: captured clip appears much shorter in FCP - 17 years agoSorry, if it's relevant, we're using FCP 5.1.1 on a Mac G5 and capturing PAL DV from a small camera.by videowallah - Café LA captured clip appears much shorter in FCP - 17 years agoWe've been capturing tapes all week just fine, about 40-60 min each, and now suddenly FCP thinks that the last two full tapes are only 45s and 7min long, respectively. When I play them in Quicktime, it's obvious that the whole tape was captured, but FCP insists that they're only short files. I've tried importing them into other projects and opening them as files rather than importing, but it giveby videowallah - Café LA Re: Special effect for Wedding Video - 18 years agoMasking (as opposed to keyframed cropping) is something I haven't worked with too much, I don't thoroughly understand it and need to read up on it. Do you mean like an 8-pt garbage matte around the girl? Maybe I might have to wait until the actual music video shoot (this was a test shoot in the office to see if the effect worked and I could manage it) and see how the color and background is beforby videowallah - Café LA Re: Special effect for Wedding Video - 18 years agoOK, my brain hurts. I THINK my "plates" match (we didn't move the camera at all) it's just that obviously in V2 she's not sitting in the chair, so you have a ghost chair on top of the V1 girl who's sitting on the chair. I tried cropping V2 away from the chair, and then obviously that led to massive color problems. I'm obviously missing some big clue here.by videowallah - Café LA Re: Special effect for Wedding Video - 18 years agoI apologize for being slow today, but I'm trying to do this exact same effect for a music video -- a girl is sitting on a chair and her spirit gets up and walks away. NONE of the composite modes look right (sometimes you see things on the wall through her head, which I don't understand), and simply changing the opacity of the top moving layer doubles her chair (if you see what I mean), so it lookby videowallah - Café LA |
