At your suggestion, I will read Ken Stone's article. And from here on in, I will search Google visually to identify a situation. CJby codyjarrett - Café LA My Timeline Just Doubled In Size And Looks Like It Now Has Sprockets - 10 years agoAs it always does with fcp7, this mysteriously appeared on my FCP7 timeline this morning and no amount of searching offers a solution! The problem is I have trouble describing what this even is! I know it has something to do with displaying speed (Ken Stone's article informed me of this), but still don't know how to get rid of it! So I'll attach a jpg and hope there's a simple solution to this.by codyjarrett - Café LA screen has gone negative - 13 years agoMy Mac Pro screen is now a negative image and I'm not sure how to get it back to normal. I know my son uploaded "Steam" and "Portal" onto this computer (big mistake). I removed them, emptied the trash and restarted the machine a few times. The screen is still negative, like an x-ray!! Can somebody out there point the way to getting my screen back to normal. So, many thanks for your help. Codyby codyjarrett - Café LA Re: SNOW LEOPARD: Highs, Lows & Bugs [things to know before you upgrade] - 14 years agoMichael, Thanks so much. Codyby codyjarrett - Café LA Re: Sata card and Snow Leopard - 14 years agoHi, I was wondering if you had any links to drivers for SATA on Snow Leopard. I have reformatted my drive and the driver I had originally installed does not work. thanks for your help. Codyby codyjarrett - Café LA Re: SNOW LEOPARD: Highs, Lows & Bugs [things to know before you upgrade] - 14 years agoI have the ADSA3GPXI SATAII card for Mac, which I use for my G-RAID 1TB Drive. I installed Snow Leopard, and the G-RAID drive will not mount. Any ideas? Is there another driver I can download that will work with Snow Leopard. If so, where might I find that driver? Thanks so much for your help.by codyjarrett - Café LA Re: Sata card and Snow Leopard - 14 years agoSame thing with me. Is there a place I can download the driver for my Sata Card. I cannot get my drive to connect after installing Snow Leopard. Naturally, I asked Apple about this first and they assured me it would be fine with the drivers I had already installed. Second Issue - Hope it's OK that I ask here: I'm also unable to save my FCP 7 files as Final Cut files - they keep revby codyjarrett - Café LA Importing MTS files from Canon HF100 - 15 years agoI have imported HD files from my Canon HF100 camcorder and they reside on my hard drive as MTS files. I have been unable to import them into Final Cut Pro, which doesn't recognize them. Is there a conversion I need to do before trying to importing them? Is it something I can accomplish within FCP Studio 2? Thanks in advance for your help.by codyjarrett - Café LA Re: Got Leopard? Post your problems/joys/thoughts here - 15 years agoSounds like I'm facing yet another quandry before beginning a new project in a few weeks. I've got OS X 10.5.2 on a new Mac Pro Intel 2X2.8 Quad-Core with 4 GB RAM. Some things about it are a little hinky, but otherwise, it's great. My faithful Mac repair guy/editing guru (no axe to grind, not trying to sell me one thing over another) said in no way should I install Avid on my new machine.by codyjarrett - Café LA Re: fcp versus avid - 15 years agoThis has been incredibly valuable information - on so many fronts. Your forum is a real find!! Thanks again for your help. Codyby codyjarrett - Café LA Re: fcp versus avid - 15 years agogerald aka Strypes, Budget is a good question. I'm not going to get a full-fledged setup for this one. This is strictly about software that I will install on a Mac Pro (Quad Core 2.8 Quad Core Intel Xeon). Post is also going to be modestly budgeted. The producers come out of journalism and marketing - not film, so it's not easy to talk to them regarding post costs. They agreed to any soby codyjarrett - Café LA rendering to flv from avid and fcp - 15 years agoEverybody here raises very good points!! (see: ) My final delivery will be: 1. dvd to be mass produced and distributed to shareholders 2. flv to be put on company website 3. broadcast via cable network I'm very interested in being able to render directly to flv. Is that something that either Avid or FCP can do?by codyjarrett - Café LA Re: fcp versus avid - 15 years agoDerek, Deb, Jude, thanks so much for your time and thoughtful replies. It's obviously not one of those "either-or" situations, but you've all very much helped me get a good feel for the pros and cons. For instance, it's good to hear your opinion regarding Avid and file management. I will be shooting another film while I'm cutting this and keeping the footage organized is enoughby codyjarrett - Café LA fcp versus avid - 15 years agoI know there is no simple answer - I am only looking for honest opinions. I have been told that Avid might be a better choice for cutting a 25 minute documentary which involves 20-30 hours of both SD and HD footage - and possibly some Red footage. the reason given was Avid might be more helpful organizing the footage. Cost is not an issue. I'd appreciate any opinions and have no ax to gby codyjarrett - Café LA |
