Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Getting rid of letters from video - 14 years agoLet me suggest to try the free filter Clone; it emulates the clone tool in Photoshop. It may paint over a rectangular area of each frame and copy from another area of the same size (source and destination centers and sizes may be keyframed to follow motion) from the same frame or from a different frame of the same clip. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: 7.0 Alpha Transition effect also works in earlier versions - 14 years agoI just completed an Alpha Transition plugin intended for FCE (or earlier versions of FCP) that emulates most functions of the new FCP 7 Alpha Transition. The free support movies provided by Apple work flawlessly with this plugin, but I have a question: is there any licence agreement about the use of these support movies (in http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/) ? I didn't find any, soby PieroF - Café LA Re: DV Widescreen 16:9 workflow from FCP- found on iDVD help - 14 years agoThanks for correcting me. I made experience only with iDVD and QT player... Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: DV Widescreen 16:9 workflow from FCP- found on iDVD help - 14 years agoIn fact I found out that the procedure described by jenvery works perfectly fine, but only if you did not change the Presentation options; instead, if you first change the Presentation Conform Aspect to Clean, and then change the Visual settings as above, iDVD does not recognize 16:9... In any case the Presentation options are just for the QT Player, while the Visual settings are also recognizedby PieroF - Café LA Re: Is it possible to remove logo/bug from footage? - 14 years agoYou could also try this free filter Clone: it copies a selected area of the current frame over another area, similar to the clone tool in photoshop. You can also choose an earlier or a future frame to copy from within a certain range. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: ken burns...more of that - 14 years agoI suggest you to try this free filter to automate Ken Burn effects in FCP or FCE: Auto Pan Zoom. Its main advantage is that you can apply it to a large number of images in the timeline in just one shot, and automatically get different pans and zooms in each image. Of course, you can also control motion in each single image, but the default values should be ok in most cases. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Date and time stamp - 15 years agogbean, as stated here there is no real solution to your problem, but if the number of clips where you want the date and time stamp is limited (and they are DV clips), you might try the following partially manual workaround: - use the FootTrack application (not a FCP plugin) to read the actual Date and Time of each clip: if you feed it with the same media file captured by FCP, in Foottrack you geby PieroF - Café LA Re: Gradient and Solid Add Blends in FCP - 15 years agoThanks guys... I hope these plugins are of some use. I wrote couple of them (Field Selector, Channels) as a help to debug other plugins, but I'm not sure they may actually be useful also for video editing. Value Tester, instead, inspired by Joe Maller, obviously is just for fxscript coders. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Gradient and Solid Add Blends in FCP - 15 years agoI'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do, but just to answer your request: I need the gradient to go from black at the top to transparent at the bottom, you can apply the free filter Make Transparent to the gradient generator: this filter changes white areas of any clip into transparent areas. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Clip Name Superimpose Filter? - 15 years agoHi Jeff, I'll check that. Unfortunately neither the file name nor the clip name are returned by documented fxscript functions. The problem is that, while indeed there do exist undocumented functions, finding exactly what you need among them is just matter of pure luck. I'll give it a try, in any case... Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Clip Name Superimpose Filter? - 15 years agoHi Andy, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I already tried (I'm the author of that plugin) to add the clip name to my FCE Timecode Display, but I could not find any fxscript function supporting this (while there is one for reel name, and for timecode). If I'll find something I'll let you know... Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: RED background in viewer for texts!?!!? - 15 years agoYou probably already checked this: anyway, is View/Background/Red selected in your viewer ? The canvas background color disappears (becomes black) during playback. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Exporting Quictime getting Error: Out of Memory - 15 years agoI ran into the out of memory error for having imported too many or too large still images: this may fill the available FCP RAM. If this is the case increasing the Still Cache might solve the problem. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: anamorphic problem - 15 years agoHi Gerard, in fact when I reimport the 720x576 with its Visual Settings modified to 1024x576 in QT Pro, the imported clip is 1024x576 square pixels, as you expected. But when I reimport the 720x576 with its Conform Aperture to: Clean in QT Pro, the imported clip is again 720x576 PAL CCIR 601 Anamorphic. That's probably why iDVD works in the first case and not in the second. Still I cannot bby PieroF - Café LA Re: anamorphic problem - 15 years agoIn my experience interlacing is not affected. What is not fully clear to me, however, is the following: - suppose I use Export/Quicktime Movie with an anamorphic sequence (e.g. PAL 720x576, PAL CCIR 601 pixel aspect ratio, AND Anamorphic flag SET: that means that the actual frame size should be 1024x576 square pixels) - then the resulting .mov in the QT Pro Inspector (cmd-I) is described amoby PieroF - Café LA Re: anamorphic problem - 15 years agoNick, I tried Anamorphizer once in the past but it didn't work with me (it just did nothing...). Since the QT Pro fix is quick and easy I just use this when needed. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: anamorphic problem - 15 years agoThere is some incompatibility between FCP/FCE and iDVD, but if you have Quicktime Pro the 16:9 fix is easy: - From FCP export the anamorphic movie to .mov with Export/Quicktime Movie together with its chapters (if any). Use Current Settings, but whether Make Movie Self-Contained is checked or not doesn't make a difference. - In QT Pro Player open the exported .mov movie, open its property winby PieroF - Café LA Re: creating visible time code on low res output for transcriptions - 15 years agoLet me add my contribution to timecode burning in with 2 free plugins: FCE Timecode Display and Counter Display. They add some functions and some flexibility to the standard plugins. Timecode Display is a filter (reads the clip timecode in many forms) and Counter Display is a generator that creates many kinds of counters. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Drop Frame/Non Drop Frame - 15 years agoMy guess is that your sequence is configured for 24p but the miniDV camcorder is delivering a standard NTSC (drop-frame) DV stream. If this is the case, and your original media is 24p, probably you should correctly configure the DV camcorder you use as a capture deck... but, to be honest I'm not really expert on 24p. Sorry. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: rendering issue - 15 years agoHave you tried increasing the Still Cache in System Setting/Memory&Cache ? That makes more room for stills, any kind of stills. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Unusual linking behavior on manual sync - 15 years agoProbably you hit cmd-L while the audio-video clip was selected: this unlinks audio from video. Now that they are apart, if you select them both and hit cmd-L again they should link. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Keeping Constant Alpha when Exporting Image Sequences or Movies - 15 years agoOK I did compare the tests: - as I already wrote above, using Export/Using Quicktime Conversion, Format: Still Image or Image Sequence, TIFF does not export transparency, if the clip is fully transparent (alpha channel filled with 0; otherwise, if transparency is partial, it is exported in TIFF - as in the text clips used by Andreas). - following strypes suggestion I did export the same fulby PieroF - Café LA Re: Keeping Constant Alpha when Exporting Image Sequences or Movies - 15 years agoI'll try that too (my test though was with Image sequence as Andreas, not Animation) Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Keeping Constant Alpha when Exporting Image Sequences or Movies - 15 years agoHi strypes, "a completely transparent tiff still above the video should also work": I tried that... but it does not work! (I didn't expect it either...). It seems that for transparency to be exported (at least with Export/Using Quicktime Conversion - Image Sequence - TIFF) the alpha channel of the exported clip must not be fully transparent... I made 2 tests, both applying my new fiby PieroF - Café LA Re: Keeping Constant Alpha when Exporting Image Sequences or Movies - 15 years agoI made couple tests following your description: and I can confirm your results. Where there is no clip with transparency (text clips, but any other clip with transparency will do) the Export creates black TIFF without alpha channel (None/Ignore, when imported back to FCP), while the alpha channel (premultiplied Black) is generated for the TIFF images when the exported clips have transparency.by PieroF - Café LA Re: Best Setings for MPEG Streamclip? - 15 years agoOne more tip: make sure the Audio settings are: Uncompressed, Stereo, 48 kHz. This ensures no audio rendering is needed when importing to FCP. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: time remapping in fcp - 15 years agoMy 2 cents. I guess serious time remapping of audio would imply subframe handling, while for video it just works at the frame (actually field) level (timecode based time remapping...) Probably this was not intended to be a task for FCP, as Jeff and Derek and the other posters wrote. Just my 2 cents Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Premultiplication and fxscripts - 15 years agoThanks again Andy, I'll try that. Pieroby PieroF - Café LA Re: Premultiplication and fxscripts - 15 years agoHi Andy, thanks for your suggestion. At the moment I didn't find any answer to my question, though, even in the FCP/FCE Developers Connections. Premultiplication is addressed in other documents in the Developer Connection (not FCP), but it's specific to contexts (e.g. Core Image) I'm not sure how related to FCP. In some cases its also contradicting: in Core Image guide it is stated that all imby PieroF - Café LA |
