My hard drive was off and it was referencing my H.264 files. #fcpfailby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Render Problem - 13 years agoHello, I am editing a music video that I shot on a Canon 7D. With MPEG Streamclip, I converted the footage over to Apple Pro Res 422, like I have done for every other music video I have shot. I have about 5 different angles, with about three takes each. I synced up the angles, and layered the takes on top of each other in a few different sequences. So, there are about 3 clips stacked on toby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Re: Quick Keyframe Question/Best Workflow - 13 years agoThanks guys I really appreciate it. Judy, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you so much. I see what you mean about the jerkyness. Since this is going to tottally live online, any suggestions to smooth that out? -Mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Quick Keyframe Question/Best Workflow - 13 years agoHello, I am editing a music video and I have a TON of clips. For the main little motif in this video I want the clips to work themselves off the screen from right to left, with the clips following eachother one after the other. I like to think of it like a train, with each clip following the next. The clips move by very quickly but there isn't any black screen between them, almost as if they aby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Best Workflow - 13 years agoHello, I have started editing Music Video and I wanted to get an idea for the BEST more EFFICIENT workflow that people use for doing this type of work. I basically have about 8 or 9 performances of the song that I have been stacking up in the time line. I line them all up with the music and pick which parts I like best. The problem I encountered with this is I didn't know how to make trackby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Re: Plate Help - 13 years agoI think it can be done with the crop tool, but for some reason I feel like if you just used the crop tool you would be able to see where they two clips merge. I thought maybe there was a trick to sort of finesse them into each other a little better. -mike Any ideas about not using a greenscreen for the bench stuff?by michaelpaulucci - Café LA Re: Plate Help - 13 years agoI guess the plate I am talking about is not moving the tripod and meshing two pieces of footage together to make it look like they are one. Maybe there is another name for it. Example: Actor stands again a wall on the left side of the frame, on the right side of the frame there is a sidewalk people are walking down. I would film the two pieces of footage separately, but don't move the tripby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Re: Audio Sync Question - 13 years agoyes, thanks so much. i guess i was tripped up because i wouldn't be doubling the speed for a 24fps timeline, it would be something different. but i guess the 7d is recording at 30fps and pulling down to 24fps. thanks, mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Plate Help - 13 years agoThis is a two part question, lol. First, can anyone tell me the most effective way to make a plate in FCP or After Effects? (I have CS3). What looks the best and looks the most seamless? Also, for a shot, I am having a performer sit on a park bench, he will be rapping at regular speed. But I want people to be walking past him infront of the camera in fast motion, so it looks like everyone iby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Audio Sync Question - 13 years agoHello, I am shooting a music video, and I saw where some people slow down the footage, but the mouths of the performers still sync up with what is being said. Example Here: I heard this was done by speeding up the song, then when it's played back at normal speed with the slow footage everything fits (or something like that.) Basically, I am wondering if anyone knows how to figure out hby michaelpaulucci - Café LA How was this done? - 13 years agoHey Everyone, I saw this video here, and was wondering how the color effects were done. An example of one starts at around 1:56. It basically looks like it changes color, and was wondering if there is a way to keyframe the color change, and this is what they did. I don't know, maybe there is an easier way to do it in another program? Also, where are they getting this "blow out" effecby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Can this be done in FCP? - 13 years agoHello, I was watching this music video,--- ---- and wanted to get feedback on how this effect is done. It happens a few times in the video. The performer is silhouetted behind a window, but somehow they are projecting images of an airplane on the window behind him. An example of this happens at 2:11. At first I thought it must just be a projector shooting on the windows, but I don't know hby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Best/Easiest Subtitles - 14 years agoI am editing a documentary and I need to put English subtitles throughout the whole piece (roughly 10 minutes). I was wondering if someone had a solution for doing (free) subtitles in FCP. Also, what font is most commonly used? Thanks so much, Mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Photoshop Stretch Problem - 14 years agoHello, I am creating a project in FCP, the sequence is 720x480 Anamorphic 16x9, and was shot Super 16mm converted to tape. I scanned some images in Photoshop, but when I bring them into the sequence, they are stretched horizontally. The Pixel Aspect Ratio box in Photoshop was Square, so I switched it to DV NTSC thinking this would fix the problem, but I don't think it did. Any ideas on how toby michaelpaulucci - Café LA OMF File for Pro Tools - 14 years agoHello, I shot a film on a Canon 7D, and used a Sound Device 722 to record dialogue. The film is now picture locked, and I need to send an OMF File to my post Audio guys so he can do the mix. When I synced all the Audio and the Video, I merged the clips, creating a whole new Merged clip from which I edited the entire film. Now, when I create the OMF File, I am afraid the names of the audioby michaelpaulucci - Café LA DVD Compression - 14 years agoI am trying to export footage shot at 1440x1080 60I to SD DVD. I used Compressor, chose 90 minutes best quality, then dragged that into DVD Studio Pro. When I watch the DVD in a television, there is extreme significant loss in the image quality. People are pixeled like an old video game. Is there something I am doing wrong, or another way to burn to DVD? Or another way to Compress that would presby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Old Timey Iris effect - 14 years agoAnyone know how to do an old fashioned Iris effect? Basically the camera starts as a circle on something then opens up to reveal the scene. It looked like FCP has a Iris transition, but I don't necessarily want to use it to transition scenes. Maybe I didn't mess with it enough, but it also looked too clean (if that makes sense). I could probably make one in photoshop too, but I just thought someoby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Re: 4x3 - 14 years agoThanks everyone, I did it the easy way that Derek suggested. Don't have the 40,000 Teranex laying around my apartment!by michaelpaulucci - Café LA 4x3 - 14 years agoHello, I shot a bunch of footage 1080p. I need to print to tape, letterbox it to a 4x3 aspect ratio. I am sure this is pretty easy, but can someone just run me through the steps real quick? I need to print to tape. Thanks so much, Mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Dropped Frames Flip Mini - 14 years agoI am editing some footage I shot with a flip Mini hd. The footage is in H.264 1280X720, 29.97. It was fine at the beginning, but now as I get farther in the edit, the footage starts to jutter and stop. I have heard it is better to switch this H.264 over to something else in MPEG Streamclip or something. I have a good majority of the cut done, is there a way I can lessen the play quality so thby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Re: Rendering Problem - 14 years agoI think I figured it out. Something weird happened to my Capture Scratch...let me know if you guys know for sure what I did! Thanks, Mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Rendering Problem - 14 years agoI am editing with 960x720 DVCPRO 23.98 video, and 48.0 Khz audio. I have about 12 or so audio tracks over a good portion of my video. I will render, and everything will be fine, however, I will go to look up something on the internet, or close the FCP window, and when I come back, everything that I rendered needs to be rendered again. Basically anytime I click out of the Timeline, then go back toby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Re: Sync/Frame Rate Problem - 14 years agoYes, sorry I mean Frame Size. Thanks, Mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Sync/Frame Rate Problem - 14 years agoHello, I shot a bunch of video with a Canon 7D. I took them into MPEG Stream clip and converted them to Pro Res 1920x1080. I recorded sound using an HVX at 960x720. I just went to sync up my audio. I linked them, then I made Independent Clips in my Timeline, then I dragged them into my Browser. Everything went smoothly. However, now for some reason on my Independent Clips in my Browser, it sayby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Effect - 14 years agoAnyone know how this weird framing, projector type effect is done at 00:19? Any guess on how to do it? To me it looks like a little bit of vignette with a frame made in photoshop? thanks, mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Quick Audio Question - 14 years agoFor some reason, when I am in the Timeline, I can't hear the Audio when I scrub w/ the mouse or go frame by frame with the left and right arrows. The audio level doesn't move until i play the timeline, then the audio plays...what did i turn off? (or on?) -thanks, mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Quick Question - 14 years agoI am editing a music video, so I have a ton of clips with sound. However I don't need the sound in the sequence. Does anyone know a quick way to drag clips into the Sequence without the sound? Sucks having to cut it out everytime... Thanks!!by michaelpaulucci - Café LA film aspect ratio effect - 14 years agodoes anyone know an easy way to do the effect that is at the beginning of this video and throughout it? it makes it look like your looking through a projector or glass or something, really really cool... thanks, mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Slide Projector Effect - 14 years agoI have a ton of still images that I would like to put in a documentary. They look sort of boring doing the "Ken Burns" push in and out. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on getting a cool slide projector effect, and how to make the pictures look a little older and scratchy. Rounding out the corner, film scratchs, etc... Thanks, -mikeby michaelpaulucci - Café LA Sound Enhancement - 14 years agoHello, I am trying to find the perfect gun shot noise for my film, and I have found one, the only problem is the sound is too "clean". The gun shot takes place outside, at dawn in a field, so I am trying to make the gun shot sound more "hallow", "airy", "echo-e" (maybe), to make it sound more realistic. does anyone have a good way to do this in FCP or Soby michaelpaulucci - Café LA |
