Cineform has three products you can try: Studio is Free, but has quite a few limitations, and may not fit with what you need. Neo is only $299, and will likely do everything you want and more. Neo 3D goes for $999, and will do way more than you probably need. There are also free trials (30by James Manke - Café LA Re: App Store Question - 13 years agoAll Apps that you purchase in the App Store are forever linked to your Apple ID. You simply enter your Apple ID and re-download anything that you have purchased in the App Store. If you purchase a second computer, you can download any apps you previously purchased on another computer with the same Apple ID. It sounds like you have things sorted, other than a bug in the RedcineX program. The one question I would pose is whether or not you need to take all of the footage through RedcineX before doing an offline to pare down your dailies? I believe there's a workflow on Cineform's site for matching back the raw RED. I'm not sure if that saves you anything in teby James Manke - Café LA Re: 3D Mux with RedcineX Cineform and ProRes - 13 years agoI'm not 100% clear on what you're asking. It sounds like you're trying to keep your footage in two different codecs simultaneously (R3D and Cineform). My suggestion would be to do your 1st light color correction in RedcineX and then export the clips as Cineform, assuming you are planning to use Firstlight and Neo3D. Once you have your clips in the Cineform codec, you need to bring those intoby James Manke - Café LA Re: Supermeet updates - 13 years agoJude Cotter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Automatic non-destructive color correction on > ingest > > Cool but some aren't gonna like this! > If this is smart enough to detect a Macbeth color chip chart at the head of a take and balance accordingly, this could be outstanding for creating an even look to all dailies. Another alternative would be to use Graphic Converter to batch convert the DPX to something else, like TIFFs. Then you'd be able to open them as an image sequence with QT or something else.by James Manke - Café LA Re: HELP "3D monitoring via graficcard" HELP - 13 years agoFor an inexpensive route, I'd try Blackmagic's Intensity Pro (@ $200). You can use that for HDMI out to a 3DTV or monitor that supports what you can output via Neo3D (side-by-side, fields, or stacked for example). I'm not familiar with that monitor to know if it will take one of those flavors of 3D. You might want to check with the good folks at Cineform (now a division of GoPro) for some opby James Manke - Café LA Re: Recommendations for Editing Keyboard - 13 years agoI'm with Andrew. I use the clear-cased, white-keys keyboard that came out before the slim aluminum ones, and I have a black kbcovers cover with colored FCP indicators. The cover keeps the dust out of the crevices and also looks cleaner over time than the white keys. On another system, I use the newer slim aluminum keyboard without a cover. That works well too, and is very comparable to theby James Manke - Café LA Re: iMovie Pro... WHY? - 13 years agoThe first time I encountered a NLE system was on a feature film. They were using Lightworks, and the primary control was designed to mimic what a film editor would use on a Steenbeck. The editor, who is now a director, had never edited with film. He learned in a completely video and non-linear world. I still handle film, and there is much in today's NLEs that borrow from that paradigm, siby James Manke - Café LA - X Re: iMovie Pro... WHY? - 13 years agoI have to agree with Russ. I see iPhoto and Garage Band evolving features from their pro equivalents. I could certainly see FCP 8 getting a major UI overhaul that is closer in look and feel to the recent iMovie changes. However, it's also a pro app, and I think it will have the same sort of user preferences that will allow you to tweak things to your liking. As you point out, there is a newby James Manke - Café LA - X Re: FCP editing 3D? - 13 years agoHello Ben, We set up such a system with FCP, Cineform's Neo 3D, AJA Kona 3, and Dual HD projectors about 18 months ago. We've worked on several IMAX (and other) stereoscopic projects before and since. Some projects were on their way to the IMAX screen, while others were being mastered for d-cinema and/or 3DTV after having already appeared in IMAX. Personally, I'm looking for something for basic playback controls (including previous & next edit keys) when away from the keyboard. I'm near enough that I could use a bluetooth keyboard, but since I've already got an iPod Touch, I think that some of the free or inexpensby James Manke - Café LA Re: Mac Upgrade time--but to what? - 13 years agoJ.Corbett Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > I have no experience with hackintosh system. I've purchased a number of items from Apple's Refurbished Store, and they all come with the same warranty as a new product, and you have the option of also extending that out with the Apple Care purchase. Want to create storyboards from stills with large image previews, a la "Light Table" feature in Aperture? - 15 years agoHow about Keynote? I was thinking about creating storyboards lately, too. I haven't used the app for this, but I'll throw it out there in case anybody else has some input. You can place images and objects aligned to a grid or freeform, and it's quite suitable for adding text. Once a 'presentation' is created, it's easy to re-order, add, or remove slides.
