Only AGP ATi Radeon cards and above are supported as long as they have 16MB VRAM. There were some hax to run QE on PCI but I don't know for sure if they work on Tiger. I found some info on your plight on xlr8yourmac: Hopefully it will help you find a solution.by Ben King - Café LA Re: still image interlacing - again - 19 years agoYep Loren is right: Gaussian blur from 0.3 to 0.6 will usually help 'jaggies' produced by too much detail on graphics/photos when displayed in SD Video. I wouldn't go as high as 1 pixel though unless the image can handle it without getting soft everywhere. If you have only a part of your picutre with moire patterns - it's best to mask this area on its own and apply a Gaussian blur in PS beforeby Ben King - Café LA Re: MPEG 2 files & MPEG 1 conversion - 19 years agoTo convert MPEG-1 (and MPEG-2 if you have the QT component installed) to DV or other file for FCP use: As far as making Program (system) stream MPEG-2 you can use: BitVice Helper (free): or commercial product Sorenson Squeeze: Be careful what audio you need for the MasterPlay - it maybe a very old format of MPEG-2 program stream that was designed for XSVCD - the forerunner to DVD - Iby Ben King - Café LA Re: Burn vs. Glass Plate DVD Quality - 19 years agoOh and bear in mind the quality of the DVD-Rs you use - if they are poor quality they might not burn or playback correctly. Accessability (file size, compatibility, codec, media player version, etc) 2. Quality (Data rate, FPS, Pixel dimensions, colorspace) If you want better accessability you will need to use an older codec thus your quality may suffer unless you bump up the data rate and this creates larger files. I assumed from the post that Bob was already DV DV cuts and DV to DV via firewire then there is no "generation loss" or lossless editing (the footage is already initially compressed 5:1 as you rightly point out and this way you wouldn't lose anything else) If however Bob uses an uncompressed workflow then keeping the master sequences & coby Ben King - Café LA Re: Animation vs DV compression - 19 years agoNot really - if you do lots of effects and grades (ie: rendering) to the edits then an uncompressed master might be a good idea, but simple DV cut edits and even putting it to DV tape and re-digitising over and over - its lossless. Copying data (unless it gets corrupted) in DV files is lossless as far as the Video concerned. If you imagine the tablet IS the screen. Every place on the tablet corresponds to the same place on the screen.
