Thanks, Stefanby stefangs - Café LA Wiki problem - 10 years agoNot sure where to post Wiki problems... when I click on Why do my DVDs play on a computer but not on a DVD player? I stay on the same page. Thanks, Stefanby stefangs - Café LA Animated map in FCP? - 10 years agoHi all, how can you do these animated maps, where the travel path is traced in a colored line? I imagine it can't be done in FCP, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks, Stefanby stefangs - Café LA Zooming into titles - 10 years agoHi, I'd like a title to show up in reverse (black screen with part of the image showing through the characters). The composite mode for that is fine, but I'd like to zoom in on the title until the background image is fully visible. My problem right now is that in the controls tab of the title clip I can only increase the font size to 200 which isn't anywhere near enough. How can I achievby stefangs - Café LA Re: Mixed format timeline - 11 years agoThank you all for the infos! My plan was to edit as is and throw the output at compressor, but I wasn't sure which of the two formats would be better for the timeline. I have now used Compressor to make all clips the same format which should work perfectly acceptable. @Dennis - yes, 1080i is 50i, but my 720p is actually 25p. I guess that classifies as the same frame rate, although your termby stefangs - Café LA Re: Mixed format timeline - 11 years agoWell the output should be 720p. And yes, I asked fcp to change the format (to 720p based on a clip with the format). It just so happens that some clips were shot at 1080i. Stefanby stefangs - Café LA Mixed format timeline - 11 years agoHi all, I'm sure this question has been answered before, but searching for 'mixed format timeline' didn't turn up anything, so... I'd like to edit some stuff that was recorded on several occasions with two different cams, one recording at 1080i and one at 720p. All clips were transcoded to ProRes, but of course, the timeline's format was changed when the first clip was added. Editing thiby stefangs - Café LA Re: Exporting Stills fron FCP - 11 years agoor did you mean in the timeline? there's a keyboard shortcut (shift-n i think?) to freeze the current frame in the canvas. that image appears as a still in the viewer to add to the timeline. stefanby stefangs - Café LA Re: No audio from XHA1 - 11 years agoare you sure there's even audio on your takes? the record level might have been set to zero or another input engaged with no mic attached, etc. stefanby stefangs - Café LA Re: Another media manager question - 11 years agoi didn't know that... it's probably under that gear icon. i'll look out for that tomorrow. too late to open another project right now for me. thanks, stefanby stefangs - Café LA Re: Another media manager question - 11 years agothat's good stuff here derek. aux clip name for the description is a great suggestion. i'm so meticulous about naming files in other apps (or fields in filemaker) - it's about time to do that in fcp as well (while it lasts anyway). stefanby stefangs - Café LA Re: Another media manager question - 11 years agostrypes Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > >i was actually referring to the clip name. i lost > those before and since then i haven't bothered to > > >even assign clip names any longer. > > FCP lets you re-name the clip name within the app. > When you do so, the change in the clip name will > not be updated in the file in theby stefangs - Café LA Re: Another media manager question - 11 years agoderekmok Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > i lost those before and since then i haven't > bothered to even assign clip names any longer. > it's not great to live with Clip 1, Clip2... > > Clip 364 > > Boom. Kind of a strange anti-feature considering that it's implemented in Logic. BWF may not have time code (not really sure), but it does have a time stamp, as such it would be easy to do (at least if FCP would still be a live product ;-)) Stefanby stefangs - Café LA Does Media Manager do anything to audio? - 11 years agoDeleting unused portions of video with the Media Manager makes archiving much lighter. AFAIKS, audio is untouched and passed onto the backup directory. Did I miss something? Perhaps the media manager thinks that throwing away some audio won't recover much disk space? Thanks, Stefanby stefangs - Café LA Re: media manager question - 11 years agook, i'll do the rest by hand then. thanks a bunch, derek! stefanby stefangs - Café LA Re: media manager question - 11 years agothanks derek, that's a good start, but it only takes care of the files in capture scratch, doesn't it? it doesn't delete files in render files, audio render files, auto save vault, etc. do i need to do this by hand? thanks, stefanby stefangs - Café LA media manager question - 11 years agoi'm cleaning up disks and want to archive projects in a better way than before. when i use media manger, by default it copies and consolidates all media into one location, ready for backup. so far so good. once i've done that, seems to me i'd want to delete the 'original' files located in various folders (capture scratch, render, etc.). why doesn't the media manager offer that or am i missingby stefangs - Café LA back to the basics... - 11 years ago*sigh* - i thought i'm past this stage, but here it goes. i transcoded a DVD track to prores with MPEG streamclip and dropped it in my browser and from there into my timeline. FCP asks its thing and i say, yes, adjust the sequence settings. now when i add *anything*, like a fade or text bit for example, the timelines becomes red at that point requiring rendering. this is a single clip on thby stefangs - Café LA Re: weird missing file - 11 years agoi see now. i wonder how the hell that render file was deleted. but yes, exporting as a self contained movie from the backup should do the trick. thanks derek! stefanby stefangs - Café LA weird missing file - 11 years agohi all, i opened a project today i was working on yesterday. it played fine when i closed it. now when it opens, FCP puts up an error saying 'The movie file 'SequenceName-FIN-00000022' cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly.' it gived me the option to search, but it doesn't search, instead, i'm supposed to locate the file. i have no idea where it is, because iby stefangs - Café LA |
