Since we were not on commission we could tell clients how to shop and what to look for. For example, if a salesman wanted to sell a specific speaker because he got more commission from it, in a comparison between it and another speaker, all he would have to do would be to turn up the volumeby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: Have a great 2011. That did it and all is well until the next wonky issue pops up. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Adobe Bridge CS5 - 13 years agoI shut down the computer each evening when I am done working. On my Mac, every time I power up, Adobe Bridge opens up. Went to System Prefs/Accounts/Log In Items and found Adobe Bridge listed there. I unchecked it but each time I boot up the Mac, running SL, Bridge is open. Why is that so and how do I stop it from doing so? Probably something so obvious I will feel dumb not realizing itby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: quicktime X or quicktime player? - 13 years agoI had a student editor this past week who wanted to learn on her Final Cut Express. Had never really used it before but most things are the same. One thing I noticed was that while she had QT X she did not have QT 7 and it was not anywhere on her install discs. For FCE users, should this be of any concern? Currently she is shooting with an old Sony DCR 2000 which is SD anyway but I would haby Steve Douglas - Café LA QT to Keynote - 13 years agoTrying to help a friend here but don't have an answer for him. Maybe someone here can help. Steve "When I try to import Quicktime movies into Keynote, the aspect ratio changes from 16x9 to 4x3. When I change the ratio, I'm getting lots of artifacts. Any suggestions for a smooth export/import from Quicktime to Keynote?"by Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: OT: RIP Dennis Hopper - 13 years agoFirst I heard of this, very sorry to see him pass. He was greatly underrated but was a superb actor in many substantial roles. Actually saw him in Easy Rider when it was in theaters. Still riding my Harley. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Free Radeon Card - 13 years agoAs a result of some kind of class action suit, I was sent a new Radeon 4650 512 PCI express graphics card. I don't think it matches up to the X1900 card I am running now so if anyone can use this for themselves let me know. I have never tried to use it but it is there. Steve Douglasby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: OT: March 24 lafcpug meeting maybe the last one - 14 years agoI'll be happy to volunteer my house for your meetings Mike. Of course, it is down here in San Diego but that would be a short drive(for me at least). Seriously, I do hope you will be able to find another venue, maybe a local church or YMCA meeting place. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: map with travel path - 14 years agoJoe, Wow, those EPS vector maps are expensive! Thanks for all the info. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: map with travel path - 14 years agoI am also in the need of some decent maps, any recommended sources? Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: map with travel path - 14 years agoExcellent, well worth seeing. Look at it as a way to stretch yourself. Imagine you were teaching someone to do the same thing. You just jot down the steps and viola, you have your tutorial. Loved what you did. Now to figure it out. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: map with travel path - 14 years agoJoey, Would love to see you write a tutorial article on your method. It sounds like a great way to do it. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: Gear for Sale - 14 years agoHi, I am selling this for a friend but it comes with a Light and Motion underwater housing. She doesn't want to sell the camcorder separately and wants 1400. for the whole package. Steveby Steve Douglas - lafcpug Market Re: fav - 14 years agoYou can save motion effects by applying them to a clip and then bringing the clip back to the browser and right clicking on it and choosing ' Make Master Clip' and giving it a unique name for future use. Everytime you wish to apply this type of clip to any other clip(s), just select it in the Browser, then press CMD+C to copy the clip. Then you select the clip(s) to which you wish to apply iby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: Your thoughts on Boris Graffiti - 14 years agoThe problem with most of the Boris products is that they are generally not the most user friendly plug ins, especially to those who are not the most experienced editors. While they produce a high quality result and Boris Calligraphy has been a part of FCP for a long time, the rest of their products can be problematic. In addition, they are darn expensive for most people. Though I might getby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: FCP certification concerns? - 14 years agoIMHO, the certification is more for ego and to impress others who have no idea. As long as you study the Peachpit Apple Pro Training Series book you will be fine. The problem with the exam is that 1) there really are trick questions 2) We use what tools we need which is why most people never outgrow the NLE. Unfortunately, there are questions pertaining to most everything whether you generallyby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: fav - 14 years agoCreate a new project and bring in a few clips to the sequence. Apply your favorite transitions and filters from your favorites folder to these clips and name the project "my Faves' or some such dumb name. Then when you upgrade to a different FC version or some horrible crash happens to occur, you can open up the Faves project where it wil ask you whether you want to upgrade your faves proby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: Moving Render Files - 14 years agoYes, if you have reset your scratch discs including the render files to your external, there is no way that it should still be sending render files to the hard drive. Definitely trash prefs and double check your settings once you have opened FC again. I also can't imaging scaling an image to 133% and finding the loss of image quality acceptable. To me anything scaled above 103% is too much. Steveby Steve Douglas - Café LA Re: Problem with Command/H to hide FCP - 14 years agoWell, Apple/Shift didn't work either. I wonder if the MXO2 box could, in some way, interfere with it opening again. Steveby Steve Douglas - FCP Feature Requests Re: Problem with Command/H to hide FCP - 14 years agoI haven't tried Apple/Shift but clicking on the dock or the project icon doesn't work. Will try the shift and see if it works. Thanks Steveby Steve Douglas - FCP Feature Requests Problem with Command/H to hide FCP - 14 years agoOne thing I have noticed only in the last couple of days on my system, but others have said they experience as well, is that that when I do a Command/H to hide FC, lately, it will not come out of hide at all. I have to do a force quit and reboot FC to get back to the project. Steveby Steve Douglas - FCP Feature Requests Re: Tired of Squinting, & Access to Most Used Filters via Right Click - 15 years agoNot all 3rd party plug ins are compatible with every version of FC or AE. For instance, Nucleo Pro 2 for AE is a great plug in but is not compatible with the new CS4. I hear they are working on it. There are others with the same situation. So, if a plug in causes a crash you can delete it, contact the company and see if they have a fix. Steveby Steve Douglas - FCP Feature Requests BG Rendering & Quality - 15 years agoI would love for FC to enable you to continue working while rendering is going on. I hate having to wait before I can proceed. I also find that even though the computers keep getting faster and more powerful, the software itself is also more demanding. Since I prefer to view things in high quality, even with my 2x3GHz Dual-Core and 5.5 gigs ram, sometimes the simplest of FX demand renderingby Steve Douglas - FCP Feature Requests |
