yep shane, thats right P2. and right again, its only certian clips they need. i have the avid codecs. have had for nearly a year - but the link is appreciated none the less. the thing is that they apparently dont know what avid codec they need. ive asked repeatedly and as mentioned also asked them to just send me a clip. and they just cant seem to get their heads around what im asking... i haby wayne granzin - Café LA

ok, more ongoing issues sending my footage (dvcproHD downconverted to SD) to an avid shop. they asked me for "normal quicktime" i told them that that was not a format. then they said animation codec. i said fine. and exported my footage as SD animation codec. well it turns out they also cant read a mac formatted drive and are too dumb or too lazy to remedy that for themselves - bby wayne granzin - Café LA

quick and dirty way might be to apply (to the topmost clip) a levels filter jacking up the brightness then do an overlay or screen composite mode then play with the opacityby wayne granzin - Café LA

and last i heard HDV "flavors" were brand-specific. so you cant play HDV tapes from a cannon camera in a sony player. that was a couple years back, they may have resolved all that by now...?by wayne granzin - Café LA

i have found that having devices plugged in and powered on before launching FCP is generally the successful way to go. but its generally advisable from a electrical standpoint to have the camera turned OFF when plugging/unplugging it from the firewire cable. the camera isnt seen as a storage device, so you wont see anything on your desktopby wayne granzin - Café LA

the nattress film fx has a couple of jitter functions. here is one thats free: - look for "jitterbug" and im pretty sure digieffects and saphire both have some stuff like that. but theyre both pretty spendyby wayne granzin - Café LA
reconnecting moved source content - 13 years ago
ok, i have just finished consolidating about a years worth of client video strewn over about 3 drives onto one large drive. obviously, i will have to reconnect the files. there are over 1000 of them. when i did the first reconnect, i checked the button to reconnect all files in the relative path but it keeps only reconnecting the 1 clip i selected. is there a more foolproof way to do them aby wayne granzin - Café LA

really, what youre talking about is more of a "cast shadow" i dont think FCP has that. but there are likely 3rd party plugins to address it. personally, id do this with a combo of photoshop and aftereffectsby wayne granzin - Café LA

nope. you need pcmcia. the easiest route is to hook the camera up to your machine via firewire and transfer that way a syou would from any other media.by wayne granzin - Café LA

how would you plan to validate whether or not ONE person actually did ALL the work? and as far as watchable end-product, how is one-man work different from that from a team? AND does the rule that you have to do everything yourself mean that you cant use stock elements like music or looks? no offense intended, but this seems like a half-thought out idea to me...by wayne granzin - Show and Tell

well, that sure blows. i wonder why it ever became a practice to display that? thats almost like posting your social security number on the curb in front of your house... but wouldnt the alleged offender need your name and other credentials to use the number? i seem to recall last major update i bought, i had to give everything shy of a urine sample...by wayne granzin - Café LA

i know that adobe software for the last few versions has hid the last 4 numbers of the serial number both at startup and about. are you sure that your full number is being displayed? im not near my documentation so i cant test that for myself...by wayne granzin - Café LA

just stay away from anything that says lacie, maxtor, mybook, buffalo (or anything you can get at your local computer store) and you'll be ok. OWC, Gtech, caldigit, glyph are things to google or forum search...by wayne granzin - Café LA

you could just fake it with an oval matte. it wont hug their contour, but the overall effect will get the message across...by wayne granzin - Café LA

first order of business is to cut a matte around them - manually or with edge detection software... there IS NO easy way to achive this. unless they were shot on green/blue screenby wayne granzin - Café LA
