Quick Question, help! - 17 years agoi second that ben! been on both sides of that deal...by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: final cut pro bashing thread? - 17 years agowhat kind of camera was the footage shot on?by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: final cut pro bashing thread? - 17 years agothis is what taught me early on to leave about 4 secs of pre and post roll for every shot. to allow for batch capturing from logs with 2 sec handles...by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Firestore FS-4 - from what I can gather... - 17 years agoyep, youve pretty much covered everything - i agree with shane about the extra batteries though - power cords are no fun!by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: What to charge???? Quick Question, help! - 17 years agoas many here have said, trading service for service is a great way to go! if you can trade them video service for permission to use their music - that can often save you more than youd have made from them to begin with.by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: What to charge???? Quick Question, help! - 17 years agothe problem with this is that almost all bands have a few friends with cameras who will shoot them for free - just cause they get cool points... of course it wont be as cool as what you'd do - but hey - they can afford FREE. as you say, most of these bands are dirt poor and cant afford to pay you anything anywhere near fair. id say if you can get $250 for an evenings shoot and a quick edit andby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Deck suggestion for PAL/NTSC - 18 years agofrom what ive seen on a pro/semi pro level the next level up is the dsr 20/25/40/45 but those are about a double jump in price to start. and im not sure those will do pal. the dsr11 is a great choice for the money. and the only things negative about it are the cover door tends to break off and i personally am used to having timecode display ON the deck (but im a whiney bitch) - other than that,by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Deck suggestion for PAL/NTSC - 18 years agonope. in that price range and for that qualty - thats pretty much THE CHOICE.by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: external drive - 18 years agothe reason that i soo aressively support promax is that way back in FCP version 1.x (i was a tried and true media100 guy back then) i was about to buy a new media100 system when my sales guy at promax told me about this crazy new app from apple called FINAL CUT PRO. it was designed such that i didnt need the big $6000+ SCSI drive arrays. it would work on little $500 fire wire drives. so, all iby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: external drive - 18 years agoi diasychain a camera and external firewire drive to the built in fw port on my old 1.0 17" powerbook all the time and ive had very few if any issues at all. i dont really know why all these people always say you have to have an external firewire card...??? and i swear by promax drives. anytime ive ventured away from them, ive had problems...by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: OT: Replacement for a dsr-40 - 18 years agoyeah, that canopus box will do it. as long as you dont mind using adapters to connect from its rca outs to your xlr cables.by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: OT: Replacement for a dsr-40 - 18 years agowhat exactly is the situation you are in? you could replace the deck with a canopus advc110 - but youd have to use rca outs instead of xlr, but that shouldnt effect your sound quality...by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Compressor takes so long - 18 years agowhat format are you trying to compress and what format are you compressing to?by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: OT New Google Venture - 18 years agoisnt this pretty much like a .mac thing?by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: video as watermark - 18 years agoim very familiar with your terms, but im not sure what youre trying to achieve... simply lowering th eoverlaying clips opacity would be the way to do that. might help if you desaturated it - if you really wanted a "watermark" effect. but i think the psychology of the "watermark" may not translate seamlessly with full image over full image...??? you might also try playing wiby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: might be a dumb question, but... - 18 years agowill cross fade work if you crossfade to nothing? i have always HATED THE BEZIER rubber bands on the audio track - i have no idea why they do that in the first place...?by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: What's the best html editor to stream a QT movie on a web page? - 18 years agohell, you can place a video on an html page with a text editor. you dont need a special application to make it happen. i say go get and learn macromedia dreamweaver, its not hard to build pretty robust stuff with it with about 2 hours of study. it all kind of depends on what it is that youre wanting to achieve... cool factor? movie size? audience volume, etc, etc, etc...by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: da vinci code lightrays (gfx joe) - 18 years agoso i guess the rest of that same post didnt also point out some drawbacks of edge rays????? i guess im just going to have start adding the "my two cents" insurance policy to ALL my posts from now on???by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: da vinci code lightrays (gfx joe) - 18 years agothats what i was thinking?!?!? ive been singing promax's praises here for years, now and no endorsement offers from them yet either?!?!?!?! ; )by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: da vinci code lightrays (gfx joe) - 18 years agowithout doubt! trapcode stuff is some of the most useful in the business! although $750 for SEVEN plugins - aint exactly "brunch" either...by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: TV Off Plug in - 18 years agoyou could fairly easilly pull that off with trapcode particular, 3dstroke and the basic after effects tools... id bet you could even make it in motion, with the built in effects... i cast the challenge down to all you "motion-heads" out there i dont think it could be pulled off as a FCP "plugin/transition" without coming out really cheesey.by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: da vinci code lightrays (gfx joe) - 18 years agowise advice! that is EXACTLY how i was able to purchase mine. a client who HAD TO HAVE like 3 of the effects... the cool thing about the gen arts stuff (as in most plugin collections) you'll rarely ever use about 75% of it, you'll use 21% of it twice a year - but you'll use 4% of it every day (ok, maybe every week). id gamble that even a recreationally- professional workload would justify iby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Moving media files on hard drive - 18 years agooh, and as far as file management goes, read the following thread:by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Moving media files on hard drive - 18 years agohmmmm dunno what would be causing that??? EXCEPT... there is a little blue arrow at the end of the "Save As ___________" line. if that arrow is pointing down - there lies your problem. click it and all will be peacefull...by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Urgent hard drive HDV issue - 18 years agosure! cant hurt to try it... there are a lot of folks who swear by lacie stuff - though i do not count myself as one of them... you can always capture to the lacie now, then move it all over and change your scratch disk once you get your G-raid.by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: da vinci code lightrays (gfx joe) - 18 years agothe big diff between saphire edge rays and trapcode shine in my opinion is testosterone!!! now i havent updated my shine since i got the genarts stuff a couple years back - so this may not be a factor anymore, but shine was always very "crystaline" and tastefull (which is a GOOD THING) but edge rays can be cranked to hell for a full-on, super-freakin-nova, right outta satans colon typeby wayne granzin - Café LA |
