I'll make a stab at this, seeing how no one has responded at all for over a week. I have a DVX-100B myself, but I have never used this mode. My understanding is that it is emulating anamorphic digitally, not optically, and even though the output handles just like real anamorphic, the quality is not as good, much like digital zoom can't match optical zoom. This is such a well-known problem I'm surprised you're having it ;-). It's in the FAQ. You've fallen victim to the default keys that support Exposé, and they are easily reassigned to some other key combo (or ignored completely). Then you'll have your FCP key combos back.by Scott Taylor - Café LA

Easier way to get past it: double click the bin icon that holds your clip, or put it in a bin first, which will open that bin in its own browser window. Now you will be able to see all your markers.by Scott Taylor - Café LA

From NASA is the announcement of where the retiring Space Shuttles are going, and here in the Northwest we've been holding our breath that one would be coming to Boeing's Museum of Flight. Using FontBook on another computer with good Adobe Garamond Pro, you could export it, then import into FontBook on the problem machine, unless there are copy protections on that font (if that's possible). If it came with the OS, that shouldn't be a problem. Before importing into the second machine, delete it with FontBook. That's what I would try, anyway.by Scott Taylor - Café LA

Try Preview in Slide Show mode (View > Slide Show). It blacks the screen and shows the picture to the edges (depending on aspect) without any toolbars (Esc to exit). Or Finder > Slide Show or Quick Look, depending on OS version. Not sure if they display "true" without distortion, but there is nothing but picture when you use one of these. Andy's screen shot appears to be from a laptop; heavensvideo says he has a Mac Pro which wouldn't have a Fn key anyway. If it really is a Mac Pro and not a laptop, I'd try another keyboard.by Scott Taylor - Café LA

I've had FCP since ver 3 and never was aware of this, but that doesn't prove anything . It just seems like a quicker way to do a fit-to-fill, and would be handy for that.by Scott Taylor - Café LA

PG - I asked earlier how much space on all of your drives, not just the one you have your project on. They all count for performance of your system. Please stop calling disk space "memory." Memory refers to RAM, what you have available on drives is "disk space." The distinction is important, and you mislead people who are trying to help by confusing these terms. "Memory" refers to RAM, not hard drive space. How much RAM do you have on your system? And now to contradict myself, "out of memory" errors can be caused by a system drive that is too full, as it manages virtual memory. Blast from the past - this has come up before, and it has happened to me. Bizarre solution (for some, anyway) is to reset your Easy Setup - change it to something else, then back again. It makes no sense, but neither does the problem itself. can't guarantee it will work in your case, but easy enough to try. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA

If you have the choice, buy it from Apple with the minimum RAM possible, and buy your additional RAM from a 3rd party - much cheaper, just as good.by Scott Taylor - Café LA

For simple scrolling back and forth in the timeline, I use the scroll wheel on my Microsoft wireless mouse, pushed to the left or right (not every mouse scroll wheel does this). Interesting approach, Nick. I've never done keyboard remapping, so I would probably know the answer to this, but if you remap (for example) JKL to 456, does it remove the mapping from JKL (making them do nothing) or do they still operate as expected if you happened to use them? Funny, I get these offers from Footage Firm all the time but for for stock footage, rarely for audio. They keep having these special deals where you can get a free DVD of a certain theme (backgrounds, cityscapes, mountains, etc.) for just the cost of shipping, always $8.41 (regularly $249). One way to do it, which may be utterly impractical in your case, is to play the presentation from an FCP timeline. Make your freeze frame long enough (10 seconds?) to give the presenter time to react to it and press space to pause it. Then to continue, press down-arrow to move the playhead to the next cut (back to motion pictures) and press space to start playing it right away. Not exactly aby Scott Taylor - Café LA

I know this was discussed recently, and a reliable resource was mentioned by someone, but I can't find it! I want to know which versions of FCP, QT and OS work together well.
