A good all-around plug-in package that is priced right! Check it out, is that what you're looking for? Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Full-Screen Playback - 15 years agoDon't for get View>External Video>All Frames. As Derek said, Digital Cinema Preview is considered an "external" device, so you have to make sure you're sending "all frames" of the video stream there. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Very Loud Buzz in My Tower - 15 years agoCheck that drive with Disk Utility. I recently had a problem with my Mac Pro where after only a short time on, clicking on just about anything gave me a beach ball and lockup. On the phone with AppleCare, trying all sorts of things to reset cache, PRAM, etc., went to Disk Utility and is said in loud red letters Disk Failing on my boot drive. Looking back, my tower had been having a slowly incrby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: OT: MUST HAVE APP FOR FCP!!!! - 15 years agodigitalheaven Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi Scott > > The requirement for FCP6.0.2 or later is because > Loader needs the Apple Event feature that was > added in 6.0.2 so it can request a list of the > projects that are currently open. Obviously that makes it impby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: OT: MUST HAVE APP FOR FCP!!!! - 15 years agoThis looked swell until I saw this: System Requirements Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 (or later). There are a lot of us still working with FCS1/FCP5. This app looks like it works externally to FCP, why does it matter which version it is? Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Still images originally taken vertically are imported in the horizontal position - 15 years agoAre you saving it in PS after you rotate it? Might sound like a silly question, but that's all I can think of, that you rotated it in PS but didn't then save it. Or you saved to a different name or place but loaded the original into FCP by mistake. I do what you're trying to do (successfully) all the time. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Everything wants rendering..... - 15 years agoThat is sweet, thanks Derek. Are these settings saved in Preferences or are they in separate files like screen layouts? How do you save column layouts? That sounds wonderful, I would use that a lot, but didn't know you could do it. Then how do you "call it up" lby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Blue Ray.....? Hello.......? - 15 years agoWhat do you mean by "current mac"? Did Apple start putting Blue-Ray drives into macs at some point? Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Using Quicktime as end product - 15 years agoYou're talking about a data DVD, which is a way of getting a large (4.5 GB) file onto disk that can be played by a computer (not a DVD player). Another problem with this approach is that the movie won't play well from the disk, you would have to copy it to the hard drive then play it from there. Another reason to not recommend that method. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: OT: Printing on paper and with Primera BravoPro - 15 years agoBe sure your printer driver is set to "CD printing" (or similar) as "paper type" under print settings. Fine quality ink-jet printers get their fine quality by carefully matching to paper characteristics, and you can get wildly different results by having your print settings not exactly match the paper type. To further complicate it, there is probably much variation among difby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: dvx200 vs 200A - 15 years agoThe fine print is interesting enough, but be sure to click on sample images! Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: karaoke bouncy ball - 15 years agoI did a rudimentary Motion 2 project to make a bouncing ball several months ago. You can see a sample movie and download the project . It's pretty basic, but it's easy to set up and you can probably make it synch to the rhythm better. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Zipping Files With No Quality Loss - 15 years agoYou might be confusing the actions of ZIP with video compression. Video compression takes information away from the video stream in order to make the file smaller, trying to keep the perceptible information loss to a minimum by using complex algorithms that are sensitive to video realities. There is no way to reverse this process, to restore the original quality, since data has been permanentlyby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: OT: New Mac Pros - 15 years agoThere's also the struggle with waiting until prices come down. I have a mantra that serves me well in this: "if you can wait forever, you can get it for nothing." Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Exporting stills to Photoshop - 15 years agoYou'll get lots of opinions on this, but we'll start with mine. I do a lot of still capturing from video. Avoid capturing as JPG, choose TIFF or PNG. PSD is overkill. JPG compresses, and loses detail in a picture that is already pretty lousy if it's from a surveillance cam. The biggest image improver of all when capturing from video is to de-interlace. in PS: Filters > Video > de-by Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Annoying problem when importing sound files. Repeat posting from a month or so ago - 15 years agoI think the intent was that you show the left side of your timeline, since that's where targeting is controlled. But yes, it worked! Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: FCP Scrolling - 15 years agoDepending on your version of FCP, the Boris effects may not have automatically installed. Look on your install disk for an "Extras" folder, and the Boris installer is in there. Well worth using, Boris beats all of the FCP text tools hands down. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Remove Antivirus 2008 - 15 years agoI found this by Googling Antivirus 2008. Norton has a product with this name, but it's also the name of known spyware. All these instructions pertain to PCs, of course, not Macs, but the dire warnings are probably just web based. I doubt that is has "infected" you at all, but it can be damn annoying. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Hello from Calgary - 15 years agoOTOH .... is it a moderator's username on a Michael Horton post? Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Repairing permission in safe boot - 15 years agoThat's all very interesting, Jeff, and thanks for all the detail. I was lamely repeating the conventional wisdom about repairing permissions. It has been the running advice as the thing to do before and after OS upgrades or other major software installs. And to perpetuate what may be misinformation, it often enough seems to clear up problems that had no other clear reason for being. What'sby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Repairing permission in safe boot - 15 years agoThe correct way to do Permissions repair on the boot drive, AFAIK, is to boot from the System CD (holding down C when you turn it on) instead of the boot drive. That's the only way to make sure that all of your system boot files are NOT open, so their permission attributes can be modified. Sounds like someone is getting confused with safe boot, which has a different purpose, as Jeff says. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Recommended sources for HD stock footage? - 15 years agoHave a look at Footage Firm. They have frequent offers of "free" collections (just costs $8.50 or so for shipping). Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: DVD SP - Once I drag an Aif to the Main Menu - I CAN'T GET IT OUT - 15 years agoAnd now I know where to go to replace a menu graphic I've updated externally! Yahoo! I've been plagued by that "in use" business too, and always resorted to deleting the menu and starting over. The UI for DVDSP is a strange beast, until you get used to its quirks. Then it's cool. Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA Re: Help with special camera need - endoscope???? - 15 years agoThere a large body of video equipment that is used for sewer inspection, and may be just what you need. The camera/cable/monitor setups come in a variety of sizes, from quite large to quite small. Needless to say, they are made to work in harsh, wet environments, and they have built in lighting. I was hoping there was a slick little way to get this keyboard fully functional again. I hate to throw stuff away that can be fixed. I'll look into that slim keyboard. I don't see how any keyboard that has all the normal keys would be a problem with the venerable Keyguide! Scottby Scott Taylor - Café LA OT: Keyboard problems - 15 years agoJust because I know you people are experts at everything.... I have an iMac (half beach ball) keyboard that has a few dead keys - 2 of the arrows and the keypad Enter key. Others go south periodically, then recover with a USB unplug/plug, but those 3 are gone. Is there any known cause (and solution) for this? It's pretty tedious to work around, but Mac keyboards aren't cheap and I'd like toby Scott Taylor - Café LA |
