Is this maybe an OS 10.4.9 bby Robert - Café LA Re: transfer footage from miniDV tapes to DVDs or CDs - 15 years agoHi John, the files you need are located in the folders that you had set to be your scratch disk. When you go into log and capture you tell FCP where to send the footage you are capturing. (Under "capture settings" - "Scratch disks". I usually create a folder for this before starting the FCP project (I dont know if that is how the experts do it). So for the workaroundby Robert - Café LA Re: transfer footage from miniDV tapes to DVDs or CDs - 15 years agoHey John T. As I am NO expert at all on any of this I hope it is not dangerous for me to reply and dont take any of this very seriously. But I know how stressful this all is so if my 2 cents can help then great. The workaround worked for me. The capture scratch folder has stuff in it. Hey one question - do I need to use new clip filenames or can I reuse the same ones after deleting the old media and the old clip filenames? It is safe to reuse the same tape number/names I assume? Thanks again, Robertby Robert - Café LA Re: PROBLEMS between FCP HD 4.5 and Mac OS X 10.4.9 - 15 years agoThanks Koz and Andrew, Simply hiding the media file folders with the workaround method is working so far for everything new that I have digitized. So thanks for all the info. I will not touch the Terminal program if I dont need to. Best, Robertby Robert - Café LA Re: transfer footage from miniDV tapes to DVDs or CDs - 15 years agoHey Lys! The workaround is now working for me too with all new tapes I am digitizing. But it won't solve the problem for the old tapes I already digitized. Were you able to get it to work for stuff you digitized before doing the workaround??? Or are you having to re-digitze everything?? Thanks and good luck to us all! Robertby Robert - Café LA Re: PROBLEMS between FCP HD 4.5 and Mac OS X 10.4.9 - 15 years agoHi Andrew, thank you so much for your post and your help. Please excuse my ignorance but I looked at the link you sent and the first command is this and dont understand it: 1. Launch Terminal and type the following: sudo nano /etc/hostconfig So what does "launching terminal" mean here?? Not sure where to type these commands. Thank you! Best regards, Robertby Robert - Café LA Re: PROBLEMS between FCP HD 4.5 and Mac OS X 10.4.9 - 15 years agoHi Phil, Jude, and Koz, you guys are GREAT!! Thank you for all of your support in this stressful time!! So Phil I went through your procedure. Just to be safe, in addition to hiding from spotlight the capture scratch folder, I also hid the Audio Render files, Autosave vault, Render Files, Thumbnail Cache Files and the Waveform Cache files. Yes I looped your checkboard pattern for one minute and it looks great on the NTSC tv monitor. BUT I reduced the selfcontained movie down to one clip of 15sec and still the problem is there. I am having the same nightmare with my fcp hd4.5 and os10.4.9. All the footage is out of sync, and the image stutters and stops while the audio continues. It drives me crazy!! I found this link from apple about it. Maybe it's possible to downgrade to 10.4.8 - I have not tried it and know almost nothing - so this is only one cent's worth of info! Thanks to the expert Koz who has also been helping me out. I thought though I should send a message out to warn people as I had no clue about this before. I hope this is okay and I am no expert like most of you guys are, but I just wanted to warn people that possibly there are problems between FCP HD4.5 and MacOS X 10.4.9. That apparently many people are having problems between FCP4.5 and MacOSx 10.4.9 (which is what I unfortunately have.). The problem is I cant reinstall the mac os 10.4 because they by mistake put it on my computer in the apple store in seattle (and I am living in spain). So I just did the test and here are the results. > On NTSC monitor - seems perfect! Vibrating between 1 and 2. Spins and moves like honey. Only is flicking-jumping a bit when in pause mode. > On FCP Canvas - Only see the "2" (not the "1". Now I am even having problems downloading your test file! This is getting embarassing. I don't know what's going on but now I can't download your test file - when I am in Mozilla and click on it, a quicktime movie with the checkerboard opens in the mozilla browser. But I don't know how to download the file to my computer. Even if it hurts it really helps to have you giving me advice on what to do. It would be worse to just sit here and be plain stuck, especially as I have a deadline coming soon!! Sorry but if you don't mind I would like to ask for more help please! So the OS 10.4.9 with the FCP HD4.5 is not such a problem?
