I don't think such things even existed then. I ride a 600cc motorbike in London, but would be happy to go without a "lid" on the slopes. This is a tragic, and wildly improbable accident that could happen to anyone. And not necessarily on a ski slope. Either way it's a terrible loss for her familby Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: So there's this rumor... - 15 years ago"Apple is basically a consumer products company" Alas i feel Tom has hit the nail on the head. Thanks Dby Dom Stevenson - Café LA Add Clip to Queue shortcut? - 15 years agoIs there a keyboard shortcut for the Add Clip to Queue button in the Log and Transfer window? I'm getting bored of having to reach for my mouse to do this, but can't find anything in the Keyboard Layout window. Couldn't find anything in the FAQ's Cheers Dby Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: Reconnecting Media - 15 years agoOk, well i'm paying another visit next week so i'll sort it all out. Copying the whole drive to an external first seems like a good idea. Many thanks Derek and Strypes. Dby Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: Reconnecting Media - 15 years agoThanks Strypes It did occur to me to use Media Manager, and if it was my system at home i would have. But these guys are in the middle of a high end TV commercial and i've heard bad stories about the MM, even though it's always been good for me. What do you mean by illegal file names?by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Reconnecting Media - 15 years agoSome friends of mine have just switched to FCS from DPS Velocity at their Animation company. They've got off to a bad start and have ended up with 270 GB's of mainly media files on their 300 GB boot drive. The second drive is almost empty. No problem, i thought, i'll move the media folders into the Capture Scratch folder on the second drive and reconnect. Except i can't reconnect. Love the cartoon one as well.by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: windows media - 15 years ago"wow, Dom.. now that's an "Off Topic" award winner! " Yeah i know Nick. And i'm still confused about the question that is "On Topic" regarding Q-time Pro. However i've done a search for the OT issue, and Derek has answered my question re stereo pairs from an old thread with the following: "You cannot stereo-link more than one pair at a time -- if you edby Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: windows media - 15 years agoSo what is the "Export Movie to Window's Media" option in QtimePro?by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: windows media - 15 years agoReally? But QTPro does enable you to convert a Qtime files to a WMV file doesn't it? Btw Derek,Nick or whoever, slightly OT but am i correct in thinking i cannot create Stereo Pairs en mass? I know i can remove them, but it seems i have to create them one at a time. Is this the case, or am i missing something?by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: windows media - 15 years agoCan't you do this in quicktime Pro which comes free with FCP?by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: deleting "locked" p2 folders - 15 years agoDoh! I was opening the trash and then trying to empty it. I discovered that if i just right click on the trash bin and hold down the option key it works a treat. Time to cut down on the beer. Anyway thanks once again to Shane and Mike.by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: deleting "locked" p2 folders - 15 years agoNo I didn't Shane. But i have now. Sorry i was seriously worse for wear last night having hit the pub straight from work with an empty stomach. Probably not an ideal time to start deleting P2 folders. But now i have a headache and my trash still has 160 GB's of P2 media. I'm not having much much luck with the option key to empty the trash. I'm right clicking in the trash and holding the optby Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: deleting "locked" p2 folders - 15 years agoI captured the p2 folders to an external at my workplace and have put them on my man desktop system at home . I'm now trying to take them off the external (all 160GB's). Are you suggesting i've got to leave the folders on my external drive forever? Wow. I new P2 cards were a a racket, but this is ridiculous!by Dom Stevenson - Café LA deleting "locked" p2 folders - 15 years agoSorry if this has been done to death, but how do you delete "locked" p2 folders.by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: Can't open P2 - 15 years agoAha! Turns out I hadn't completely got rid of FX factory, but now I have i think i've cracked it. Thanks for your help Shane.by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: Can't open P2 - 15 years agoThanks for getting back Shane. I did have a demo of FX factory but i've trashed it after reading an article by you. To no avail. I think i just put the name of the job and tape number on the folder. Now it's back in a folder called no name as i attempted to cover my tracks. There is a padlock on the last clip.text file if that's relevant? I did try unlocking it but got the same result.by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Can't open P2 - 15 years agoI'm going crazy trying to open a P2 card. I have watched (and re-watched) a Shane Ross tutorial and a Ripple tutorial on the subject and read many articles, but it's still not working. The first thing i did was rename the folder which was called No Name . Is this where i went wrong? How do i get back from here? Thanks everyone.by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: Can't copy Apple Pro Training Series Lesson/Media Files to MacBook Pro Hard drive - 15 years agoThis happened with the peachpitt media disk that came with FCP6 Beyond The Basics. In fact it happened to a student of mine with the Weynand book about a fortnight ago too. Peachpitt sent me another copy in the end, but it was a long wait. As i recall, the workaround's suggested above did not solve the problem. Joey is right. I thought it would be fine, and yes, i shall work in motion when the time comes.by Dom Stevenson - Café LA stills into FCP6 video project - 15 years agoI'm off to the Middle East next week with my Canon XHA1 and my point and shoot Canon G9. I may well wish to integrate some of my stills into the video project and i'm wondering if there's an optimal way of shooting the stills to match the camcorder footage. I'm planning to shoot in RAW mode at 4000 by 3000 pixels. Are you in Pal or ntsc?by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: How to learn to color correct? - 15 years agoGregory Andrew Balis's DVD for ripple training Colour Correction in FCP is superb. I used that alongside the Van Hurkman Advanced peachpitt book. Great combination. Haven't got the Encyclopedia yet, but since Color turned up i doubt i'll bother. The Peachpitt book for Color is basic, simple to use, and is a great intro to the fantastic program.by Dom Stevenson - Café LA Re: OT train the trainer tips - 15 years agoWhen i did it i recall there were a number of questions on things like smoothcam, log and transfer, motion templates and multiformat timelines etc. In other words new stuff that don't come up in the first exam or the Weynand book. Make sure you're on top of that stuff. Ripple do a cheapish download of tutorials on them which i bought and benefited from.
