It makes sense to get another 512 stick. I'll get one right away/ Thanks so much for the help/advice. Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Computer crash - 18 years agoSorry, Mike. I meant Ram. I have close to 1000 MB.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Computer crash - 18 years agoMike: I have over a terrabyte of ram. The FCP timeline is actually one continuous unbroken clip digitized from a DV tape with a variety of short titles laid over on V2. The crash during iDVD is only a 30-minute show. I'll go ahead and trash the preferences and see if that helps, then get back to you. Thanks. Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Computer crash - 18 years agoHi Mike: Thanks for the input. Until recently, this has never been a problem. It happens not only when i try to play a timeline but it now occurs when I am trying to burn a DVD on Studio Pro and iDVD. Playing a single FCP timeline of 50 minnutes in length, it crashed five times. Does this info help? Thanks. Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Computer crash - 18 years agoI have a G4 PowerMac with OS X, the latest QT Pro, 1.6MgH processor, over 900 gigs of memory, three harddrives with at least 60 MB free space (including master), FCP 4.5 HD. Lately I am getting crashes when I am playing a FCP timeline (I think they are called kernals?), where the computer goes dim and a box comes up with something like "you must restart the computer" written in four lanby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Computer Crashes - 18 years agoHi Kevin: I zapped the P-Ram and rebuilt the directory of all drives with DiskWarrior prior to the latest crashes. In fact, it just crashed again an hour ago. I'm pretty perplexed.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Computer Crashes - 18 years agoThanks for that, but I'm not sure I understand your last comment. What does "It just needs to be connected" refer to? My system drive has 40GB remaining, which ought to be enough to run a 50-minute program, no?by Delphinus - Café LA Computer Crashes - 18 years agoI am using FCP 4.5HD on a PowerMac G4 with a 1.6 microprocessor and 1 terrabite of memory. I have a fifty minute film (one continuous video clip, one continuous audio clip) on a 200GB internal harddrive that keeps crashing (there are 89GB unused on the drive). It crashes by the screen dimming and a box coming up in four languages indicating I need to restart the machine. It has been happening oveby Delphinus - Café LA Re: FCP Compressor - 18 years agoActually, when it crashed, the screen turns gray and a wierd black box with a Quicktime logo appears. Inside the box, in five different languages, it reads something to the effect of "You must restart your machine". I will check all drives and make sure I have at least 10% remaining. That is an excellent suggestion and one I probably should have thought of. (After I checked) My startupby Delphinus - Café LA Re: FCP Compressor - 18 years agoKoz: Thanks for that. That is the way I would normally do it, but I found Studio Pro crashed often enough on me that I thought I would relieve it of its compression by doing it before i sent the QT Movie into the Studio Pro program. I know it's an ass-backward way of doing it but i could not understand why Studio Pro kept crashing. I sometimes had to re-start four or five times before Studio Pby Delphinus - Café LA FCP Compressor - 18 years agoI have been using FCP 4.5 HD on OS X 10.3.9 for a while and have always converted projects to MPEG-2 with no problem. Ever since I upgraded Quicktime to 7.o.4 Pro, that function is no longer available where it used to be. Now Apple wants me to go to Compressor to do this, but every time I go there, I get the spinning color ball for about 5 minutes, then back to where I was. I cannot access Compreby Delphinus - Café LA |
