MacPro 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo OS X 10.6.8 FCP 7.0.3 THis happened instantaneously; I did no code or settnig changes. When playing any FCP timeline in SD, I am all of a sudden getting what sounds like timecode audio through my headphones when they are plugged into my Sony DSR-20. Just thought I would let you know.by Delphinus - Café LA Timeline Export Problem - 11 years agoFCP 7 OS X 10.6.8 MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz Core Duo 2 GB 667 SDRam This is strange. Never happened before. I imported an .mov clip into the timeline, edited it down to the segment I wanted, marked the in and out, rendered, and exported twice, in Apple ProRes 422 HQ and again in Photo-JPEG. Both times, the end result was an .mov file of the segments that I actually cut from the timeline. I am sby Delphinus - Café LA Edits do not take-Bizarre - 11 years agoHi all: Ever have this happen. You open your project, make several changes in an existing timeline then go on to other edits, only to find that the first two edit changes popped back to where they were? nd have this happen four times? Each time I made the changes, I saved the project, moved on to other edits (all of which were fine), but when I came back to the original two changes, they were bacby Delphinus - Café LA Re: "Operation not allowed" problem - 11 years agoI found how to deal with it. I copied the entire project to a new project and saved it successfully onto another drive. Thanks anyway. You guys are great.by Delphinus - Café LA "Operation not allowed" problem - 11 years agoI am trying to save a project that has automatically saved over the last few months. Only now instead of automatically saving, I get an "Operation Not allowed" box, which comes up even if I try to manually save. I changed the System Settings to a drive with over 500 GB free, but I still get this message. Any ideas why this now comes up and how I can overcome this to save the project? Oby Delphinus - Café LA Two Issues-Need Advice - 11 years agoHi all: Two issues have me stumped because they have never surfaced before. First, I cannot activate Show Title Safe no matter what I activate after laying in a title over video. I have highlighted the title clip, the timeline, whatever, and Show Title Safe remains gray. I have used it a million times but, all of a sudden, I can't. Danke!by Delphinus - Café LA HDV clip convert to SD - 11 years agoHi all: Thanks for all your great past advice. I am working on a documentary in 4:3 SD and just received some HDV material I would like to use in this production. I converted through FCP 7 by bringing it into the timeline, enlargening the clips to fit the 4:3 format, then saving each clip using EXPORT, QUICKTIME MOVIE. The conversion is decent but not not great; there is barely noticeable overallby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Complete loss of clips on timeline - 11 years agoNck: Yes. I am using FCP 7.0.3by Delphinus - Café LA Complete loss of clips on timeline - 11 years agoGood morning. Have any of you had this happen before? I am editing in FCP 7 with a MacPro Intel and adequate memory using OS X 10.6.8. I have been working on this project for months. So, I go to Disk Utility and see that one of my drives has a note that there is a problem with one of my drives that cannot be fixed, yet it is on my desktop and all the media in it works perfectly. So, I shut down Fby Delphinus - Café LA No video on monitor - 11 years agoHi all: Something just happened that has not occured before. I have a Sony DSR-20 that has been working perfectly. Today, when I pop in a tape and go to Log and Capture, the video appears on my monitor. When I pop in a tape and just play it, the video also appears on my monitor. But, when I try to play the timeline, the video does not appear. I have gone to External Video and hit All Frames,by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Stalled Timeline - 11 years agoPlease ignore this request. I found the earlier email and am taking care of the problem. Thank you.by Delphinus - Café LA Stalled Timeline - 11 years agoHi all: I have one project open and the timeline keeps stalling with the spinning ball. Sometimes it takes over a minunte to disappear, but it comes back again. Many moons ago I had this problem and I can't remember your advice as to resolving this issue, although whatever it was, it worked. Sorry to be asking again. Was it emptying the cache? If so, I can't remember how to do that. OS X 1by Delphinus - Café LA Unlinked clips - 11 years agoMy videos are now coming in unlinked, even though under Modify the Link is checked and the Stereo is gray so it cannot be altered. I have looked around to find where I can set FCP 7 to bring the video in linked, but cannot find where. Can you help? 10.6.8 FCP 7 MacPro Intel 2.16 GHz 3 GB RAMMby Delphinus - Café LA Browser format change in FCP 7 - 12 years agoHi all: With FCP 7 up and running, I opened up a new project today and unlike the other projects, the browser was formatted differently. I normally have a browser formatted with Name-Duration_in_out, etc. When I imported files into this project's browser, the format was a tiny icon of the first frame and the description next to it. I have never seen this before and I am sure I did not (purposby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Importing ACVHD - 12 years agoI tried importing each of the folders and got the same message. So, I gave up and decided to use one of the video converters I have and it is converting the files. Bizarre that FCP cannot recognize any of the folders, including the main folder that holds all the info from the camcorder. Life goes on. Go figure!by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Importing ACVHD - 12 years agoHi All: Well, I have not been successful in loading the ACVHD, even though I tried the suggestion of bringing the files in through Log & Transfer. When I open Log & Transfer, the files do not automatically come in, so I click on "Add Volume", which allows me to see the files (light gray). When I choose the files, I get a warning that reads: WARNING "STREAM" containby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Importing ACVHD - 12 years agoNever having done this type of transfer before, it took my brain a while to catch on to what you meant by Log & Transfer. GOT IT! Thanks.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Importing ACVHD - 12 years agoDerek: What FCP Audio/Video Setting should I use? I will be importing directly from the camcorder so I assume there needs to be a particular setting, no?by Delphinus - Café LA Importing ACVHD - 12 years agoIs there a way to import Canon's ACVHD into FCP 7? If not directly, any other way you might think of? OS X 10.6.8 MacPro 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Dual 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM FCP 7by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Actions stall in all FCP functions - 12 years agoWhat is the procedure for trashing the Preferences? I am pretty sure I know but I don't want to trash anything important. That might be the problem. Also, "yes", I am getting the same problem with past projects that used to run perfectly. Thanks.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Actions stall in all FCP functions - 12 years agoLauren: Thanks for that. However, the timeline I am currently working on is tiny (2 minutes with 10 clips and ten dissolves) when compared to an 80-minute full blown documentary film I worked on several months ago (200 clips and over 100 effects) without the problem. Also, I checked Sequence Settings and the "Render in 8-bit YUV" is checked, so that cannot be the problem. Anything elseby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Actions stall in all FCP functions - 12 years agoDerek: I checked the system harddrive. It is a 1 TB that has almost 700 GB, so I would assume that it can't be a problem with space. I have run diagnostics on it (Dick Utility and Disk Warrior) and I still get the same stalling in FCP. Again, the stalling occurs in nearly every function and occassionally, as the cursor moves over the timeline in "play" mode, I will get a sudden freeze fby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Actions stall in all FCP functions - 12 years agoDuhhh! Understood. It's early and I have not had my coffee yet. SYSTEM HARDDRIVE. Got it!by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Actions stall in all FCP functions - 12 years agoDerek: I am not sure what you mean by "system drive". Can you expand on that just a touch? Thanks.by Delphinus - Café LA Actions stall in all FCP functions - 12 years agoAll actions in FCP 7 now stall for 5 to 10 seconds, with spinning ball, until they engage. My drives are less than half full (1 and 2 TB) and I am using a MacPro dual core Intel. Any ideas? I'll check on that tomorrow and post comments on what I find.by Delphinus - Café LA Slow Performance, Delayed Cursor, Spinning Ball - 12 years agoFirst of all, thank you all for such great advice on problem-solving over the years. It has been invaluable. I have a problem that recently popped up which I think might be an easy one to solve with your advice. Recently I have been getting the spinning color ball for 5 to 10 seconds before the function I designate. For example, if I drag a clip to the Viewer, I get the spinning ball before the cby Delphinus - Café LA |
