Sorry about that, but I need a DVR tech to solve the problem. Fortunately, I have a good one. Thanks. Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Coming into Timeline Out of Sync - 12 years agoDerek: This is definitely a standard video timeline, as I digitized several clips last week (which are in the timeline) and they came in in perfect sync with no problem. I am using the same timeline, same tape, same procedure. I digitize the clip, double-click it to the viewer, mark the in and out, bring it to the timeline, and the problem now occurs. Is is definiteloy not an HDV timeline.by Delphinus - Café LA Coming into Timeline Out of Sync - 12 years agoI've never had this problem before. I am digitizing from an original DVCam interview into a timeline. As I watch the digitizing process, everything is in perfect sync. When I bring the clip to the Viewer and play it, it starts in sync then goes out of sync about 10 seconds in (the audio is ahead of the video). Same when I bring it to the timeline. There is no video break but the further the clipby Delphinus - Café LA "SAVE PROJECT AS" issue - 12 years agoHi all: When I go to Save Project As, I find that my Final Cut Pro 7 does not recognize either the mini 5400 rpm drives or any travel drive, both properly formatted the same as the internal drives which are recognized. Is that just what FCP does, or is there something I can do to have FCP recognize these? Thanks. DAMN, you guys are good! Thank you.by Delphinus - Café LA Viewer just went white - 12 years agoHi all: I have dozens of clips in my timeline and I have been marking the ins and outs and converting them successfully to a different format (going to EXPORT, QUICKTIME CONVERSION). After about 3/4 of the way through, my Canvas just went white. I can scrub through the timeline and hear the audio but there is no video in the Canvas. I opened up another Project and imported some of the clips; sameby Delphinus - Café LA HDV to SD Conversion-Follow-up - 12 years agoSorry. Ihave tried converting it "Using QuicktimeConversion" settings at Apple ProRes 422 HQ, dropping the end result into the timeline and using distort to get the proper proportion. All of that works fine and it plays fine in the Viewer. However, on the NTSCmonby Delphinus - Café LA Timeline/Digitize Problem - 12 years agoSomething just started that has me confounded. I am digitizing standard video in FCP 7, as I have done successfully for more many years now. Several days ago, when I mark an in and an out and digitize it, when I bring it to the timeline something strange occurs. First, the clip starts with a freeze frame for about five seconds, then pops into the clip starting at where the clip would be five secoby Delphinus - Café LA General Error? - 12 years agoFCP 7 OS X 10.6.8 2.16 GHz Intel 939 GB on harddrive Something strange just started happening that I have never experienced in ten years. I am creating a clip from FCP 7 in Apple ProRes 422 HQ (which I have been doing for months), and now, all of a sudden, I am getting a General Error when I use "Using Quicktime Conversion". Imagine, something that simple!!!by Delphinus - Café LA Linking clips - 12 years agoSince I upgraded to FCP 7, whenever I digitize clips, they come in as unlinked, so I have to use the cursor on the video and audio tracks separately when I push them back or forward manually. Under "Modify" Linked is checked, but they are not. Is there a way to set FCP so incoming clips are all linked? I am trying to bring in a 16:9 HDV clip into a FCP project with Standard Video settings (4:3). I am trying to re-size the 16:9 to 4:3. When I bring it in without the warning box, it changes the project to a 16:9 format. The box that used to come up asked me if I wanted to do this. I did not want to do this because now I have a 16:9 clip in an HDV project and if I use SCAby Delphinus - Café LA FCP framing question - 12 years agoHi all: I just upgraded to FCP 7 from 6.5 and am having a framing problem. In 6.5, whenever I brought in a clip shot in HDV to a sequence preset of DV NTSC 48 KHz, a window would come up indicating that the clip does not match the AV settings, and it gave me a choice of bringing the clip in at the AV Settings, or changing the AV Settings to match the clip. This does not happen in FCP 7. After the seventh try I was able to convert the file. It came in as a v2 but when successfully converted, it ended up as a filenamev2.mov. Strange, but it turned out OK. In reality, I think the crashing was because these MacBookPro Intel machines get very very hot and shut down or crash when they reach a certain temperature. I use several excellent converters, but two don't recognize it and the third program converts all the way to 98% before the computer crashes. MacBookPro Dual Intel 2.16 2 GB Memory OS X 10.6.8 I can't find decent information about the v2 format. Any ideas? Thanks, Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Re: FCP 7 Crashing - 12 years agoDerek: Also, all but one drive is internal. How do I reconnect the drives, and therefore the render files, without opening up the computer, pulling them out and pushingthem back in? Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Re: FCP 7 Crashing - 12 years agoDerek: Let me see if I understand you properly, because if I disconnect all external drives and try to start the project from my main drive, FCP doesn't seem to want me to designate the startup drive as my scratch disk. So, I moved the project to my main drive. Now, I think I disengage all external drives, then shut the computer down. Then restart so all drives come up. Then open the projectby Delphinus - Café LA FCP 7 Crashing - 12 years agoI have had FCP 7 up and working for several months (upgraded from 6.5) and not run into this before. In the middle of a project, it crashed. No problem, right? Just restart. The project came up but the moment I did anything, it crashed again. Then again, Then again. However, because I do not intend on buying the full download for future waveform clearing, can you explain exactly how I can clear the waveform cache now (without the download) to have the waveform back in the Viewer? That would really help. I do not exactly know what Derek meant by " Switch to Mac OS, go to where the Waveform Cacheby Delphinus - Café LA Re: How to empty FCP cache to trash? - 12 years agoHi Derek: My apologies, but I am not quite clear on your instruction. What do you mean by "Switch to Mac OS", and where is there a Waveform Cache in Mac OS? Please give me a bit more information. Thanks, Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Re: How to empty FCP cache??ves in - 12 years agoOK. I went to System Settings, then Scratch Disks. What I have under Waveform Cache is a Set button. All that seems to do it put the Waveform Cache wherever I designate. I re-set it to the proper disk, but I still have no waveform in the Viewer. This does not seem to clear the cache; rather, it seems to set it to a specific disk. Stanby Delphinus - Café LA How to empty FCP cache??ves in - 12 years agoYou were kind enough to answer this question last year and I misplaced your instruction. Apparently, if I recall correctly, when the audio waves in the Viewer do not show up, I have to empty a cache somewhere. Can you again assist me here? I promise to write down the instruction this time. Thanks. I was expecting to see it as an Alpha file in the Viewer (as I always have), but it appeared solid. When I brought it into the timeline as RGB 8-bit it worked great. Thank you.by Delphinus - Café LA Importing Photoshop Alpha file into FCP 7 - 12 years agoHi gang: I am stumped! I just upgraded to Final Cut Pro 7. When I create a Photoshop title in an Alpha channel (as I have done hundreds of times before), import it into my browser, then drag it into my Viewer, it does not come in as an Alpha Channel file. I tried saving the file in CYMK, in RGB, in 8 bit and in 16 bit (and all combinations). It is an Alpha channel document in the Photoshop pby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Converting .mxf files - 12 years agoI had a feeling that the problem was a corruption in FCP 6.5, but was not able to confirm this until yesterday, when I loaded FCP 7.
