He came to my office and we set things up similarly but I could not get a signal. We used both my and his 9 to 4 pin cable with no results. I have the iLink activated in the camcorder settings and it reads HDVout. In the FCP Audio/Video settings, I have designated Sequence Preset: HDV 1080i50 Capture Preset: HDV Drive Control Presete: Sony HDV 1080i50 Firewire I have also shifted these around in different settings, usingby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Problem bringing in HDV to FCP 6.5 - 12 years agoUnfortunately, I do not. One thing came to mind, however. If I set the project for HDV, then open it, would not the Viewer be set in 16:9 as well as the Canvas? In this case, the Viewer opens in a 4:3 mode, while the Canvas opens in 16:9. If this is normal, then you are right ... I will have to check the port.by Delphinus - Café LA Problem bringing in HDV to FCP 6.5 - 12 years agoI brought my Sony HDV camcorder to a friend's house who has the same setup as mine (see below), and hooked up my 9-pin HD cable to his computer. Opening FCP, and with the proper settings, my HDV video came into his system just fine. Back at my ranch, he and I used the same settings as on his computer and we cannot get the HDV video to show up in the Capture window. Instead, I continually get &quoby Delphinus - Café LA Viewer Display problem - 12 years agoSomething weird is going on with my Viewer window. When I bring in audio to the window, I get a flatline in mono and two flat lines in stereo, even through the audio plays just fine. When I hit PLAY, the cursor moves as normal, but there is no visible audio in the vectors. This just occurred recently and I did not make any changes in the settings. Any ideas? Often I see video tape hits on my NTSC monitor that I do not see is the FCP viewer, and I correct the clip. Would I see these hits on a flat screen TV monitor?by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Compressor question - 12 years agoOK, I'm thoroughly embarrased. Someone put printable CDs into our printable DVD rack, which is why I kept getting a notice that we needed 9 disks to do the burn. I just discovered this, and the problem is resolved. Thank you.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Compressor question - 12 years agoAndrew: What I am trying to do is compress this movie into a small enough file to burn a DVD on Toast Titanium, not directly to Studio Pro. Toast Titanium does not accept more than one file in burning a single DVD project. I need a good quality file small enough to fit on a DVD-R with audio. Any suggestions? Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Compressor question - 12 years agoHi All: First, thanks for all your great help in the past. I do not use Compressor that often and when I do I usually forget one step. You may be able to help. I am basically trying to compress an 83 minute (23.71GB) film down to make a DVD master. I performed this task successfully months ago, but I think I forgot one step. When I open Compressor, I bring the movie into the Submit box, wby Delphinus - Café LA MPEGStream Issue?? - 12 years agoHi All: I hope you can help on this because I am stumped. MacPro Intel FCP 6.5 OS X 10.6.8 I am trying to convert an 82-minute film to the spercs given by PegMedia.org for submission to Public Access TV. Their instructions are to export the film to Compressor and use DVD Best Quality, 90-minute 4:3, and select the aiff, the Dolby, and the MPEG-2 files, all of which I have done numerouby Delphinus - Café LA Re: What codec to use for burning a DVD? - 12 years agoSam: I am burning on Toast Titanium 8. Stanby Delphinus - Café LA What codec to use for burning a DVD? - 12 years agoHi all: What is the best codec to use for creating a single file from a FCP project to burn a DVD? I have used ProRes 422 HQ, but some of the material (which look perfect in my FCP Viewer) generate artifacts on the DVD, and some of the interviews start to look a bit washed out. However, I asked him to send them again and they came in fine this time. Sorry to have bothered you, and thank you for the response. Stanby Delphinus - Café LA Problem importing a .mov clip - 12 years agoI have a .mov clip on a portable drive that copies fine onto my iMac Intel 2.16Ghz. Yet, when I try to copy it to my MacPro (Intel) drives to insert in a FCP 6.5 project, I get a notice that it can't be imported because "Some date can't be read or written". I can import it into one Intel Mac but not the other. PegMedia.org needs to have my 80-minute movie in m2v format in order to send it out to public access stations. Strange format to do this, but that's what they want. I brought my FCP 6.5 project into Compressor and dragged the DVD Best Quality 90-minute mpeg-2 to the project, then submitted it. I'll try that. Still scratching my head though about the error message, but if I can solve the problem I guess I can leave the isssue on the cutting room floor.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Strange codec error message - 12 years agoNone of the still images is CMYK; they are all RGB and I keep them at 200 dpi, which has always worked well in the past. Also, the sequence setting is already at 8-bit. So, I'm still stuck with the problem. I tried nesting and laying the template over the nested project (suggested by the Apple "Genius" specialist), but I still get this error message. Most of the film has rendered, but tby Delphinus - Café LA Re: Strange codec error message - 12 years agoFollow-up: Here is background. I have an 82-minute film project on FCP 6.5, all rendered perfectly, plays, perfectly, ready to go. I duplicated it in another sequence and placed a Photoshop template over the entire movie to give it a 35mm look (initially I thought it was a logo created in Photoshop, which explains my earlier posting. It was, in fact, a black stripe upper and lower). Is there a FCP filter for helping with reducing the echo effect of a large room, i.e., camcorder mic takes in the audio instead of the lapel mic? Most everything works fine and, with your help, I have been finding resolutions to these problems. Here is the current problem. I nested an 82-minute film then rendered it. I applied the visible time code filter to it and rendered it. The movie plays perfectly on my NTSC monitor and in the Canvas. Thank you.by Delphinus - Café LA Re: Disappearing Palette and Audio MeterTools - 13 years agoThat worked great. THANK YOU. However, here's another issue I have now. I replaced a lower-third title with a new one and when I went to render, here is what I get: Unable to load effect: "Reduce Noise" The deal is that I have not used a noise reduction filter in any of the video or audio of this segment. So I have to output in SD, then convert to HD (Red Giant) for 35mm transfer. I want to make sure I have the best SD to do the HD conversion. I have converted using both ProRes 422 and Photo-JPEG and Photo-JPEG looks slightly better. Just wondering which might be the best to use in the initial phase. Any otby Delphinus - Café LA |
