Help us help you.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Simple export question - 18 years agoIs there a way to export from FCP to Motion without it stripping away all my effects and transitions?by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: OT: Concerning legal product use - 18 years agoWell, went ahead and shot it. Turned out great. Thanks for the advice. I didn't showing the logo or anything. Mark, I don't know what network it will show on yet. It's a documentary. Once again, thank you. Your help is always highly valued.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA OT: Concerning legal product use - 18 years agoI'm in the process of setting up the background for an interview with a cameraman. One of the props I was planning on placing in the background was, of course, a camera. I'm planning on putting an XL1 back there. I was just wandering if this is legal? The back ground will be a bit out of focus, but anyone that knows anything about cameras will still be able to identify it as an XL1. Is this in viby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: A few newbi questions - 18 years agoAlright, I went back to an earlier project: This one seems fine. It must be some project setting for the canvas window. The canvas window in this earlier project is a normal 4:3. The one I'm working on now has a 16:9 window for some reason. I'll keep searching, but please post if you have any ideas.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Rendering glitchiness - 18 years agoHey Derek, thanks for helping me today. That's not quite what I meant. When it is rendered, it plays fine, but I couldn't get certain clips to render. This was a stupid error on my part. I realized that I had just a single clip selected when I hit apple R. I just clicked outside of the timeline and everything within my in/out poits was selected and rendered. du-hu!!by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: A few newbi questions - 18 years agoNo motion or anything like that on these clips. Here's some more screen shots:by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: A few newbi questions - 18 years agoI'll check it out. Post back in about an hour.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: A few newbi questions - 18 years agoI didn't shoot the clip in anamorphic though. It's just min-dv footage. I looked at the capture settings and it's set for normal 720 x 480. I'll try your suggestion though.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: A few newbi questions - 18 years agoHere, you can see what I'm talking about:by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: A few newbi questions - 18 years agoHmmm...A few of the clips did have that checked, but it didn't help when I unchecked it. I placed one of the squashed clips on a video track above the rest of the video, and you can actually see the clips on the bottom tracks on the sides of the frame. It's like it has a crop filter on it, but there are no filters on the clip. The frame of the squashed clip has a black border around it. So, I donby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Rendering glitchiness - 18 years agoHave a clip that's playing back very poorly on the timeline. I have a desaturate, color corrector, time remapping, and strobe effect on it. I keep trying to render it (Apple R) but it still plays back bad. No other programs are open, I have a G5 dual 2.8 proc, 4GB RAM, plenty of hard drive space. any ideas?by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: A few newbi questions - 18 years agoAlright, I checked my sequence settings and everything seemed normal (Capture settings and so forth). I also checked various clip settings and they were all normal (I'm just dealing with normal mini-dv footage). It seems that just the viewer window is displaying the clips as 16:9. When I throw it on the timeline it's fine. There are a few clips, however, that look fine in the viewer; but after pby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: A few newbi questions - 18 years agoThanks alot man. Ah, of course! I forgot about Ken Stone for a moment. Thanks again.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA A few newbi questions - 18 years ago1. I can't figure out what's going on in my composer window (is that what they call it in FCP?) Some clips are stretched out and some are squashed as if I captured them with the wrong setting. Most of them are fine though. Is there some kind of view option I need to change? 2. Just need to know how to make a simple text mask. i.e. So I can have clips behind or in the text.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: OT: Work on Halloween - 18 years agoI'm a single editor. I spend just about every night editing, even weekends. Aside from sleeping, I'm home about 20 min. It doesn?t bother me though. I really have no life right now. That kind of sounds depressing, but it isn't always this way. I edit in spurts. Take on a large project and crank for about 4-6 months and then about a month break where I casually, storyboard, plan, think, shoot, otby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: The Perfect FCP system? - 18 years agoI am very happy with my system. I have a dual 2.7, 4GB, two 400 GB internal harddrives, plus the Mac 30" flat screen monitor. I don't admire or look up to him just because he's old and has a cool beard. He's friggin talented! Excuse my French, but I'm a little excited. I'd actually do all these things to walk in the shadow of any majby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA cc training - 18 years agoHey, this seems pretty awesome: One question, says this is four version 3 to 4. Has the color corection changed that much in five?by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: effect over whole timeline? - 18 years agoI ended up "shift" selecting the clips I wanted and then applied the effect that way.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: effect over whole timeline? - 18 years agoAh, of course! The slug! I knew it was useful for something. Thanks.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA effect over whole timeline? - 18 years agoAlright, I remember in Avid you could just make an edit point on the above vid track and then apply an effect within the edit points, thus creating an effect over an entire portion of your sequence. Is there somethig similar to this in FCP?by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: the key to Keyboards - 18 years agoI just memorize the keys. It won't take long, you'll never rely on color coded buttons, and your clients will look on you in awe as you wiz around your labeless keyboard with ease.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA |
