Then I would take all the good picture's negatives and take them to a high quality developer. I admit that this was a pretty terrible method. It got pretty frustrating at times.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: OT: black and white - 18 years agoHey, thanks. Before I got into editing, I was a photographer. So I knew about enhancing images using red or green filters (I didn't know about yellow). I knew it worked with black and white film, but would have never guessed that it would have similar effects on a digital format such as mini dv footage. Pretty neat. Thanks.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Is It Me or Is compressor un predictable - 18 years agoOnly used compressor 4 times, worked perfectly for me. "Author: Mr. Malcolm () Date: 09-08-05 15:02 Well, I was able to burn a beautiful DVD, no arrtifacts. Process: Used "export using Compressor" and exported directly from the timeline into compressor. Then selected mpeg 2 for the video, and AIFF for the audio. Encoded, imported to DVDSP and burnt. That's a good idea.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA OT: black and white - 18 years agoHey, just filmed a bunch of stuff with the knowledge that I was going to turn it all black and white. Therefore, I paid no attention to the color, I just made sure I used pretty harsh lighting. It was all shot on min dv tape so I didn't expect it to look super nice. To my surprise, it looked pretty darn good. I looked at the raw footage and saw that everything was pretty red (some shots were intby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Media won't come online? - 18 years agoCameron, I made sure that I didn't delete any motion files. I'll have to check on that Andy.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: OT - Lies Producers and Editors Tell each other - 18 years agoHey, awsome site man.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: OT - Lies Producers and Editors Tell each other - 18 years agoHa,ha! Hilarious! Hey, you able to get to that proapptips site? wouldn't open up fpr me.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Do you capture to external drives? - 18 years agoThanks for taking the time to explain that. Totally makes sense.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Do you capture to external drives? - 18 years agoThanks. I believe you and am not trying to make you prove yourself, but what do you mean by "sustained speed".by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Media won't come online? - 18 years agoOkay, I solved part of my problem. I discovered that I have to re-connect my media in Motion as well. The only problem is when I find the file that I need (Vocal Warm-up-FIN-0000011c) its greyed out. I'm unable to select it. Anyone ever come across this? I'm dying here, any suggestions are appreciated.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Do you capture to external drives? - 18 years agoWhy not USB2? It's faster than firewire.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Do you capture to external drives? - 18 years agoI read somewhere (don't remember where) that you're not supposed to capture to an external drive. Is this true? If so, why? I have a 400GB external Seagate drive, hooked up via USB2.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Media won't come online? - 18 years agop-p-please he-help meeeee! Ahggggg... gurgle, gurgle...by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Painfull organizing - 18 years ago"If you super-organize from the beginning, people think you're nuts and laugh at you at first, but when you start getting the 5000th file into the project, you'll be the one laughing." Ha, ha, ha! You're so right!by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Media won't come online? - 18 years agoAlright, I just finished moving a bunch of files around and cleaning up my computer. I then oppened up one of my projects and all the Motion backgrounds were checkered (meaning that they were offline). I expected this and thought "No problem, I'll just reconnect them". So, I right click on the sequence and select "reconnect media". The Reconnect media window pops up and I haby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Ready to archive - 18 years agoGot a 400 GB seagate. I could probably dump it to there.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Ready to archive - 18 years agoNever mind, I was trying to save space by not archiving thoase two folders. It would only save me a gig. So, no big deal there. Oh, well.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Ready to archive - 18 years agoOh, one last question: I wouldn't have to archive "Audio Render Files" or "Render Files" would I? Aren't they just what they say they are - render files?by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Ready to archive - 18 years agoSo, I went through my whole computer and organized all the media in my project into about six folders. I read Larry Jordan's article about archiving. It seems that archiving my media to DVD is my best bet. Just wanted a few people to look over my process before I deleted the media. So the folders are: FCP Projects (this folder will go to an external drive) Par - DVD project files FCP Media Expby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Painfull organizing - 18 years agoHey, thanks everyone. Just finished cleaning up my computer. The only two icons blemishing the glowing, surreal-blue background of my desktop are "Macintosh HD" and "Storage HD" Hi Joe. "The trick is to develop a healthy system before digitizing a single frame." He, he. Isn't that the truth! I think I'll do okay now. I've got eveyrthing in it's nice clean folder. Myby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Painfull organizing - 18 years agoThanks for the reply. Yeah, I think that's probably what happened. Makes sense. I probably will move the files to the main folder (I too must have an ultra clean computer). One other thing, I've got about four "PAR" folders, they look like DVD SP projects. Is that right? If so, I'll consolidate all thoase into one folder.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Painfull organizing - 18 years agoWell, I got a G5 with two fat 400 GB drives plus a 400GB external seagate drive. A crew of editors just finished editing a pretty intense project (lots of, Motion, SFX, PSD documents, ect). The only problem is that when they started, they didn't really have a storage system (there're are random files just sitting on the desk top!) Anyway , I just read Lary Jordan's article about archiving and oby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: scary DOS text - 18 years agoSorry, haven't been able to check the forum in wahile. have two internal 400GB drives. Niether are very full. I do how ever get the eternally spinning beach beach ball of doom fairly often. I haven't repaired permissions yet. I won't ba able to check the forums till Monday, but thanks for the suggestions.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: scary DOS text - 18 years agoP.S. I was also unable to go over to the task bar and do a "force quit" it was truly frozen. No response what so ever.by Mr. Malcolm - Café LA scary DOS text - 18 years agoI know it's looked down upon when a user posts in multiple forums, but I don't think this probem is conected exclusivly to DVDSP. Aside from that, I really need to fix this quick and would like all the eyes I can get. So please pardon me if this is not appropriate. Now, it's about 11:00 PM and I'm sitting here watching my G5 burn a DVD. Suddenly, This balck and white text pops up in the upper leby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA Re: Unexpectedly quitting - Iv'e searched the forum - 18 years agohey, thanks for all advice. I'll just delete the pref files to be safe. I mean, it can't hurt. Could they be render files? possibly. I'm wrapping this project up and about to start a new one. I'll keep searching for any corrupted files, but I'm about to start a new project. If I don't get any unexpected quits on this one, I'll assume that the other project had a corrupt file. It's pretty liekby Mr. Malcolm - Café LA |
