It's easy to accidently turn on by hitting the V key.by markspencer - Motion Re: Turn Bezier cut into animation - 17 years agoTo trace the line I would use the Shape tool, not a mask, and draw an open shape, the use a replicator to draw the line. Here's a good tutorial on how to do that: Another way to go is to create a new shape the size of the county, outline on, face off, and then animate a mask to reveal the outline. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Motion Bugs??? - 17 years agoVery odd. I'd consider trashing the prefs file, and if that doesn't do it, a clean reintstall.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion Bugs??? - 17 years agoHaven't seen the first issue, but the second is usually caused because you exceeded the graphics card's pixel limitations - setting a containinig layer for everything to fixed resolution can address that one. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: How do you soft the border of your crops ? - 17 years agoUse a mask instead of cropping and feather the mask. Rectangle mask tool, top of the Canvas.by markspencer - Motion Re: RotoScoping: Motion vs. After Effects - 17 years agoHave you tried using B-splines instead of Bezier curves? You can switch one to the other in the Inspector.by markspencer - Motion Re: Snapping Objects in Timeline - 17 years agoHold down the Shift key when dragging. Of course, I prefer to use keyboard shortcuts for this kind of thing - Shift I or O to jump to an object/effect In or Out point; Command left or right bracket to move a clip's in or out point to the playhead location. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Motion short cut keys - 17 years agoI feel the same way but you can accomplish a lot with keyboard shortcuts and never needing to zoom: shift-I will jump to the beginning of a clip; shift-O to the end. Pressing I will trim a clip's in point; O will trim it's out point. You can select clips in the Layers tab so you don't need to zoom in. You can move selected clips by typing a value.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion short cut keys - 17 years agoHere's an overview of how to navigate the interface with shortcuts:by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion short cut keys - 17 years agoYeah, I wish it worked like FCP as well, but it doesn't - the two control at the bottom will do it, plus if you right-click on the ruler, you can "zoom to project" or "zoom to play range". Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Need help with DV Matte Blast for 2.0 - 17 years agoDV doesn't support an alpha channel. You'd have to export an animation, millions+ to preserve the alpha - but why export at all? Just import the Motion project file into FCP, that should give you what you want. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Audio Sync problem from FCP - 17 years agoTry making the subclip independent before sending it to Motion.by markspencer - Motion Re: Black background in preview window - 17 years agoAh - LiveFonts. No, no way to change it that I know of. Would be nice if you could make it white for some of the particle effects, like black smoke. I smell a feature request! - Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Black background in preview window - 17 years agoUm, the preview window's background IS black. No way to make it larger but in the file browser you can double-click on an asset to open it into a large screen player.by markspencer - Motion Re: Creating a Drop Shadow in Motion - 17 years agoUse Shake for a drop shadow? That's a sledgehammer for a nail. Just go to the Properties tab and check drop shadow, or right click the object and select the drop shadow tool to adjust.by markspencer - Motion Re: Books on Motion? - 17 years agoSorry, none of the Motion books have been updated for Motion 2 - however, they are all compatible, and there are good web resources for the new features of Motion 2, in particular the Replicator - here's an article I wrote on how to use it and the new behavior that uses it: Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Books on Motion? - 17 years agoThere are 3 books out on Motion, you can find them here: (click the Books link). I wrote one so I'll let others comment on content :-) Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Motion Templates Exported to DVD Studio Pro - 17 years agoNo, the Motion "dropzones" won't work in DVDSP - they aren't really dropzones. You can, however, import a motion project into DVDSP and use it as a menu.by markspencer - Motion Re: Earthquake shake - 17 years agoI agree, parameter behaviors in general are WAY coolby markspencer - Motion Re: video freezes on transition - 17 years agoYou said you exported the clips from FCP - do you mean you used Send to Motion? If so, transitions applied in FCP don't go along for the ride to Motion - you lose them. You can export the two clips without a transition and use a fade in/fade out in Motion, or if you want some FCP transition that you can't mimic in Motion, you need to export the section of your sequence as a self-contained movie,by markspencer - Motion Re: text - 17 years agoAdolfo, I totally agree with you - I think I even said that serif fonts at larger sizes work just fine - you, however, explained my point much better than I did, so thank you!by markspencer - Motion Re: text - 17 years agoThe idea is not to use text that has fine lines of only one horizontal pixel because it will flicker on and off due to interlacing. Serif fonts are fonts with serifs - thin detail edges. You can tell them by the way they look - look at Times for instance. Sans serif fonts don't have serifs, so they have blocky edges - look at Helvetica, Impact, Verdana. There's no definitive list - you tell by loby markspencer - Motion Re: .ppt - 17 years agoYou can make a movie from your slide in PPT and then import that into Motion, but it's "baked"; or you can export still images and import each of those.by markspencer - Motion Re: Flag filter - 17 years agozaxwerks.com See applemotion.net for all Motion related plugins, articles, tutorials, etc. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: 32bit float space - 17 years agoIt's really most beneficial as part of a workflow that includes working with files that support float space, particularly in a professional production environment. Those files will retain data beyond the 8-bit range if you work in 16- or 32-bit float. There's a very good example in the online Chapter 15 update to the APTS Motion book which you can download from Peachpit's website - it will help yby markspencer - Motion Re: Particle Generators - 17 years agoThat's how particle systems are created - read up in the manual.by markspencer - Motion |
