Try duplicating the object you want to mask on top of the original, then apply a desaturate filter, then a colorize filter, and that should let you tint it yellow. Then, if you goal is to only have part of the object yellow, mask the upper object as needed to reveal the lower object. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: What would you like in next version? - 18 years agoYou should be able to replace the source object that the replicator used - first add the new object to the layers tab, then drag it over the original source object until you get the hooked arrow and release. Do this to a copy of the replicator to leave the original intact. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Particle movement - 18 years agoturn on record animation (A); step through your animation frame by frame and move the Emitter in the Canvas to track it to the end of the cigar.by markspencer - Motion Re: Draw line on map without covering text. - 18 years agoPut the words in a layer above the line?by markspencer - Motion Re: grow shrink - 18 years agoI wouldn't use grow/shrink on text - rather, animate the scale parameter with keyframes or a parameter behavior. I know this doesn't solve the grow/shrink problem directly, but there are things in Motion that still don't work quite right. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: relative positioning of text objects? - 18 years agoI don't think so - you would do this in AE with an expression, which Motion does not have. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: 3rd party plugins crashing Motion - 18 years agoOnly certain 3rd party plugins will work with Motion, and very few have been rewritten with the FXPlug in order to get real-time acceleration on the graphics card. I keep a list of the ones I know about on my site - click on the "Plugins and more" page Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Reverse text sequence - 18 years agoIn the Text Sequence behavior, change the Traversal parameter to Custom, and keyframe it from -100% to 0%.by markspencer - Motion Re: What would you like in next version? - 18 years agoGreat list, Adolfo - I would add: RAM previews that actually play in realtime Markby markspencer - Motion Re: LIvetype jumping - 18 years agoI'm not finding that issue with that LiveFont, but you could try setting the layer the text is contained in to fixed resolution and see if that helps. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: text mirroring - 18 years agoUse a negative value for the Y scale property. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Increasing the size in sequence without softening?? - 18 years agoNot reallyby markspencer - Motion Re: Blur Fade Out - 18 years agoOpen the timeline (F6) and drag the blur fade out effect to the end of the text object.by markspencer - Motion Re: Retaining FCP filter? - 18 years agoAs you have discovered, filters in FCP don't go along to Motion. You have two options: export the clips with filters applied in FCP as self-contained QT movies, reimport and replace in the sequence, then send to Motion. Or, find a similar filter or solution in Motion - which you could do here by applying a mask in Motion. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: fade in fade out-whole composition - 18 years agoWill you look at that! Thanks, Greg, I did not know that. Very good fix!by markspencer - Motion Re: fade in fade out-whole composition - 18 years agoPut everything into a master layer and add the fade-in/fade-out behavior to the layer. If you don't like the look of the master fade (it still fades objects individually before compositing them so you can see through them as they fade), the put a Levels filter on the master layer and keyframe it. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: keying - 18 years agoPix are too small for me to see you layers. -duplicate the video you want to key out -on the original, add an image mask (Object>Add Image Mask) -drag the duplicate onto the image mask (this will turn it off in the Layers tab automatically) -in the dashboard for the image mask, choose "luminance" -you should get your key now (text should be behind the video -to tweak the key, add aby markspencer - Motion Re: keying - 18 years agoHow did you key out the white? You could try the Primatte filter or a luma key or stencil luma blend mode, but I think your best bet is to have two copies of the footage in the Layers tab - apply an image mask to one, drop the other one on the mask, set the mask to luma - then you may need to apply a desaturate and levels filter to the mask source to tweak the contrast to get the best key. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Motion 2 FCP disparity!? - 18 years agoThat's right, choose black. Sometimes you have to try different options and look closely at the edge detail by zooming in on the Canvas to see which works best.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion 2 FCP disparity!? - 18 years agoRather than change the background opacity in Motion, change the alpha interpretation in FCP to premulitplied with black. It's a column in the browser - scroll over far enough and you'll find it. Very common that FCP or Motion will incorrectly interpret the alpha channel. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Motion 2 FCP disparity!? - 18 years agoHave you checked the alpha interpretation in FCP?by markspencer - Motion Re: text tracking question - 18 years agoI would keyframe the tracking parameter, that's the easiest way to go. Behaviors are great for continous animation, but if you want something to start and/or stop, keyframing is better. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Need masking advice on project - 18 years agoI would do this in Motion. I would first just try a luma matte to see how close you get, then create animated masks to cover the places you still need to cover - create each mask with the maximum points you'll need, turn on record animation, and mask the first frame, last frame, then middle frame, then quarter, then eighths, keep going as needed. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Alpha Layer export - 18 years agoWhen you send to Motion from FCP, filters don't go along for the ride - only the source footage, with any Motion tab settings.by markspencer - Motion Re: Question -Motion 2 export with Alpha - 18 years agoCan you be more specific about what you are doing and what's not working? Basically, you just import the Motion project file into DVDSP and drag it into a menu. For the highlights, you need to make a separate still image file - simplest is just black and white, with black indicating where the highlights are. Select the menu, in the Inspector, set the Overlay to this file (after you have importedby markspencer - Motion Re: bending text - 18 years agoSelect the text, go to the Text tab of the inspector, last pane (not format, not style, can't remember what it's called) one of the first parameters lets you choose Path as the text type, then double-click on the text to show the path - you can then move the existing points, add points, etc. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: 3D Space - 18 years agoMotion doesn't have z-space. You can try to fake it by scaling layers, but you need After Effects to do what you want.by markspencer - Motion Re: Tracker Plugin - 18 years agoSpecial Case developed a nifty little utility that takes tracking data from AE and lets you bring it into Motion: Markby markspencer - Motion |
