Greg Niles, you out there?by markspencer - Motion Re: animated mask question? - 18 years agoI take it back, even with the anchor point located on the edge, the edge moves when animating the opposite edge. Very annoying.by markspencer - Motion Re: animated mask question? - 18 years agoChi-Ho, try changing the anchor point of the mask by moving to the edge that is supposed to remain stationary, that should do it. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: animated mask question? - 18 years agoMy work machine is tied up with outputing a long video now so I'll have to check it out later - but what's the problem exactly? I've done this many times and seems to work fine - it's not a crop but you could certainly animate the crop on the text object if you wanted to.by markspencer - Motion Re: Orbiting with dept - 18 years agoHere's a great tutorial that does something close to what you are trying to do (animated, 3-D text moving around in a sphere-like way) - should at least give you some ideas: Btw, all Motion tutorials, tips, articles can be found here: Markby markspencer - Motion Re: animated mask question? - 18 years agoHey, Chi-Ho, how are you! It shouldn't slide back. 1) park playhead at beginning of animation 2) draw mask over the letters, then drag one edge to shrink it down so it doesn't cover any of them 3) move playhead to end of animation 4) turn on record animation 5) drag mask out to reveal text That should workby markspencer - Motion Re: animated mask question? - 18 years agoCHL, Not sure what your questions is - if you want to move the entire mask, just grab it from inside. If you just want the right edge to move, just grab and move the right edge, the left edge will stay in place and the mask will shrink. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Creating Text - 18 years agoNo - but why would you want to? What is your goal?by markspencer - Motion Re: 32-bit Motion?? - 18 years agoI'm pretty sure that the card doesn't have anything to do with it. If you are running version 2.0, there should be a bit options in project properties.by markspencer - Motion Re: 32-bit Motion?? - 18 years agoSorry, was doing that from memory. Go to project properties (command-J). You can set the bit depth there. Then, under the view menu, you can choose whether or not to preview in float. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: 32-bit Motion?? - 18 years agoThe view button in the top right of the Canvas. You can choose to disable it for viewing purposes to speed up playback. 32-bit is really only useful for film-level resolution. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Motion memory problem? - 18 years agoMotion can address up to 4GB of RAM, but it can be useful to have more than 4GB for running other apps (FCP, DVDSP, Photoshop, After Effects) at the same time. However, 4GB is quite nice. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Changing Projects Frame Rate - 18 years agoI'm talking about the frame rate of a clip, not the project.by markspencer - Motion Re: Variable speed in Motion - 18 years agoYou can change the frame rate by selecting the object in the media tab of the project pane and then going to the media tab of the inspector. And you can use the Scrub filter apply speed changes by keyframing the filter. But really your best shot is to make speed changes in another app like FCP or AE. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Changing Projects Frame Rate - 18 years agoMake you project at 29.97 and you should be fine.by markspencer - Motion Re: Power-point to Motion emotion - 18 years agoFrom PowerPoint you can export still images of each slide - I prefer to work with PICTS. That should get you what you want.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion memory problem? - 18 years agoI agree, Motion loves ram. And vram. It like a speedy cpu too.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion memory problem? - 18 years agoApple does not "recommend 8GB of RAM" - the min RAM is 512K, and they recommend "2GB or more". 4GB should be more than enough IMHO. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Can't underline - 18 years agoWhere do you see "underline" when you control click? I've never seen that. If you want underlined text, I'd suggest you simply draw a line with the bezier tool.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion memory problem? - 18 years agoYou don't mention which version of the OS or Quicktime, but I'd recommend a re-installby markspencer - Motion Re: Blurry Motion Clips in FCP - 18 years agoSometimes Final Cut and Motion incorrectly interpret the alpha channel when importing footage - go to the Alpha column in the browser and try the alternatives, that should fix your grey border problem. As to the fuzzy problem, I have not experienced it. Are you looking at an NTSC monitor? Markby markspencer - Motion Re: Can't export quicktime w/ transparent b.g. - 18 years agoMake sure that your background is set to 0% opacity and also make sure you are using a codec that supports transparency, i.e., animation. If you are using Motion 1, you need to dig into the settings to set it to "millions+" (the + means the alpha channel); Motion 2 has an alpha channel preset you can use. Markby markspencer - Motion Re: 16x9 - 18 years agoIf your footage was shot anamorphically, you need a checkmark in the Anamorphic column of the browser for those clips. And your sequence should be set to anamorphic as well. If you need to render, you have a mismatch between your clip settings and your sequence settings. You can change either one at anytime, so experiment until you don't get a render bar. As far as mixing 4:3 and 16:9 clips, thaby markspencer - Café LA Re: I've done something obvious, but... - 18 years agoThat's the last thing we need :-)by markspencer - Café LA Re: I've done something obvious, but... - 18 years agoActually I didn't post that answer, someone somehow posted with my name.by markspencer - Café LA |
