You'd need to animate a mask to reveal fonts - not too hard to do by tracing over the fonts with the paint stroke tool, then using the paint stroke as an image mask to reveal the letters.by markspencer - Motion Re: Photoshop Image Import into Motion - 15 years agoDoes your Photoshop file have transparency? If so, is it set to RGB?by markspencer - Motion Re: Why is the Motion forum so dead? - 15 years agoThere are a lot of other Motion forums that get a lot more activity - e.g., Apple's forum.by markspencer - Motion Re: Scanning photos/graphics for FCP/Motion DVCPRO HD 1080i60 - 15 years agodpi is meaningless for video - all that matters is the number of pixels. Motion's warning is coming up because you are using a still with more pixels than your graphics card can process. You should scan at the lowest resolution that will allow you to zoom in as far as you need without going over 100% scale in any app - AE, Motion, FCP, doesn't matter. What that translates to for your scanneby markspencer - Motion Re: Chroma Keying in Motion - 15 years agoYou'd be much better off investing in dvMatte Pro (dvgarage.com) which works in Motion or FCP - and just set it up once in FCP, then apply it to all your clips using copy-paste attributes. Far superior keyer than anything stock in FCP or Motion.by markspencer - Motion Re: Unable to Export Motion Project - 15 years agoI really don't know where to start. Your large pictures are the problem. You shouldn't be using anything larger than you need to zoom into to maintain at or close to 100%. It's not a psd vs jpeg issue - it's a number of pixels issue - you are exceeding the capabilities of your graphics cards. You should resize all your photos in another application to the minimum you need. In particular, you can't change the opacity over life, which is what you would do to make the particles fade out.by markspencer - Motion Re: Unable to Export Motion Project - 15 years agoIf you are making a DVD with iDVD, then NTSC-DV is correct for everything; 4:3 is correct unless you are working with anamorphic video. Your project is extremely long for a Motion project - normally you shouldn't be longer than a minute or two. Usually you are just creating a title sequence or some effects on a couple of clips that you sent to Motion from FCP. One way around this is to expby markspencer - Motion Re: Unable to Export Motion Project - 15 years agoI mean, what are you going to use the video for? Is it for broadcast SD, HDTV, web, etc - your destination determines your compression settings.by markspencer - Motion Re: Unable to Export Motion Project - 15 years agoCould be that you are running out of memory. I'd try exporting an image sequence in sections, then exporting from QT to your destination format. You still didn't tell me what export settings you are using or what your target destination is.by markspencer - Motion Re: import ai to motion - i do not have illustrator - 15 years agoYeah, I think there's an issue with PC generated .ai files. You might want to take a look at Vector Designer:by markspencer - Motion Re: import ai to motion - i do not have illustrator - 15 years agoI don't believe you can export vectors from Photoshop.by markspencer - Motion Re: import ai to motion - i do not have illustrator - 15 years agoTry saving as .pdfby markspencer - Motion Re: Unable to Export Motion Project - 15 years agoWhat output settings are you using? Are you using Compressor or outputting through Quicktime? And what is your destination?by markspencer - Motion Re: Academic version of Motion 3.0.2, FCP Studio 6.0.4 - 15 years agoThere are no feature differences whatsoever - the academic version just can't be upgraded.by markspencer - Motion Re: Erratic Exports - 15 years agoIt's a capture issue - any codec. You need to re-export keyframing every frame. You can use ProRes but you might get some frame smearing.by markspencer - Motion Re: Erratic Exports - 15 years agoThat's your problem - footage without timecode. Try re-exporting your screencapture through quicktime as animation, keyframe every frame (the file will be huge, but Motion should be able to now work with it)by markspencer - Motion Re: Erratic Exports - 15 years agoAny changes you make in FCP to the Motion tab (scale, rotation, crop, drop shadow, retiming, etc. including keyframing) are retained when you send those clips to Motion. What doesn't make the trip are transitions, generators, and filters. What kind of footage are you working with? It should work.by markspencer - Motion Re: Can't see the Library or Inspector Menu's in Motion - 15 years agoTrash your prefs:by markspencer - Motion Re: OT: Dual monitors - 15 years agoAgain, crossfire DOES NOT WORK with Macs. Yes, you can have two cards, each running a different monitor. You may have issues spreading the Motion UI across those two monitors, however.by markspencer - Motion Re: OT: Dual monitors - 15 years agoAh ok. You did connect the graphics card to the motherboard of the computer with the included cable, right?by markspencer - Motion Re: Graphic Card too slow? - 15 years agoGood to know, thanks for posting back.by markspencer - Motion Re: OT: Dual monitors - 15 years agoCrossfire doesn't work on Macs. If you have a Crossfire card, you have the wrong card. And turning off a monitor doesn't stop the card from splitting the VRAM, AFAIK - I believe you have to do that in a card setting in a Pref pane - can anyone verify?by markspencer - Motion Re: Graphic Card too slow? - 15 years agoYou can bring any Motion system to its knees with enough blurs, lights, particles, long project, etc. You might want to check out this article:by markspencer - Motion Re: Pulling Focus (Hitchcock Vertigo Effect) - 15 years agoThe Zoom Layer behavior (under Camera behaviors) does exactly that.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion. Four masks in the same video - 15 years agoWhy export at all? Why not just bring the Motion project into FCP? In fact, if you are going from FCP to Motion, are you using the Send To command? That will embed the Motion project automatically.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion - Animating Photoshop Layers in Z-Space (Movie) - by Mark Spencer - 15 years agoAre you in active camera view? If you have more than one viewport open, is the Active Camera viewport the active view (yellow box)? Did you watch the "redux" tutorial?by markspencer - Motion Re: Video Wall Tutorial with Stills- Can It be done with video clips? - 15 years agoThat's correct. If you want every copy to show a playing version of each movie, you need to string all your movies together into one movie, each "sub-movie" lasting the same duration, say 10 seconds. You then enable Play Frames in the Replicator, and then set the Frame Offset, in this case, to 10 seconds or 300 frames. Now each copy will play starting 300 frames later, so each will playby markspencer - Motion Re: Motion 3 and Mac Pro - 15 years agoYes, I was wrong, I'm sorry - the 3870 works in all versions of the Mac Pro, but not the G5.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion 3 and Mac Pro - 15 years agoMy understanding is that this card will work on a PPC G5 - but I haven't tried it myself.by markspencer - Motion |
