Check the documentation under the Help menu.by markspencer - Motion Re: Camera reflected in a TV screen - 15 years agoYou'd use one of Motion's tracking behaviors. Good information in the supplementary PDF under the Help menu.by markspencer - Motion Re: Attaching traveling matte URGENT - 15 years agodrag the matte into the layers tab first, then add it to the image mask.by markspencer - Motion Re: Export Simple 16x9 QuickTime from HDV - 15 years agoNot sure why you are posting this on the Motion forum?by markspencer - Motion Re: Bug with XDCAM 24p preset? - 15 years agoNo, it's not a bug. Just like FCP, once you have created a sequence (or project with Motion), you can't change its timecode base. You need to create a new preset, then create a new project using that preset.by markspencer - Motion Re: Export using Compressor crashing Motion - 15 years agoBefore you reinstall, try trashing your prefsby markspencer - Motion Re: Now you see it -- Now you don't - 15 years agoNot sure, I haven't had this problem....by markspencer - Motion Re: Now you see it -- Now you don't - 15 years agoDid you render the Motion project in the FCP timeline (I'm assuming you are importing the Motion .motn project file)?by markspencer - Motion Re: metallic silver text - 15 years agoI'd make it in Photoshop. Lots of tutorials around the net.by markspencer - Motion Re: Transitional Replicators in Motion - 15 years agoA rough edit in FC is a good way to go, then select the clips and use the "send to Motion" command. Color correction is a bit of a problem. If you color correct in FCP first, you'll lose the correction when you send to Motion, because filters don't make the trip (except for SmoothCam). But if you wait until after you roundtrip, you'll end up with one Motion project instead of indiby markspencer - Motion Re: Transitional Replicators in Motion - 15 years agoYou need to apply that replicator as an image mask. Select the video layer, then go to Object > Add Image Mask. Drag the replicator group into the well in the HUD. You may need to invert it depending on whether you are wiping the video on or off. Your other video layer should be below.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion tutorial missing - how would you do this? - 15 years agoOk, I fixed the link on the my site, and here's the direct link: As James' tutorial shows you, you can slice a photo up right in Photoshop.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion tutorial missing - how would you do this? - 15 years agoSorry about that link, the person who runs that site seems to keep changing things around - I was able to find his tutorial but it doesn't show a correct url, just shows . If you click the Tutorial link on the left, it's tutorial #9by markspencer - Motion Re: Tips for compositing video in an Object - 15 years agoAssuming the medallion is solid: 1) Select the video layer 2) Choose Object > Add Image Mask 3) Drag the medallion into the well in the HUD 4) If necessary, set the HUD to use the Alpha of the Medallion If the area you want the video to be inside is transparent, probably easier to simply draw a mask on the video layer based on the shape of the medallion.by markspencer - Motion Re: Tips for compositing video in an Object - 15 years agoLook up in the Help how to use an Image Mask.by markspencer - Motion Re: Text On a Path - 15 years agoNo, it only works with a Motion text layer.by markspencer - Motion Re: Text On a Path - 15 years agoSure. Text tab of the Inspector, Layout section, change the Layout Method to Path - double-click the text to see the path - you can add control points, etc. - make it anything you want. Keyframe the Offset parameter to animate the text along the path.by markspencer - Motion Re: Travel Matte in Motion - 15 years agoYou want to use an Image Mask. With the fire and the text in your project, select the fire. Choose Object > Add Image Mask. In the HUD (press F7 if you can't see it), drag the text layer into the well.by markspencer - Motion Re: Playback in Motion - 15 years agoFirst, you don't have to bring your project into Final Cut Pro to render, you can render right in Motion: Mark > Ram Preview > Play Range, or same as FCP, Command-R. Second, the amount of RAM you have determines the duration of video that will play back in real time - the more RAM, the more video can be cached. For playback performance, the graphics card is what matters. It's the carby markspencer - Motion Re: 16:9 templates - 15 years agoThat's because those files aren't anamorphic - you'll have to go in and tweak the layers by hand.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion 3 and VideoCoPilot: Andrew Kramer - 15 years agoVery nice tutorial, James.by markspencer - Motion Re: Text resizing limitations - 15 years agoIf you are scaling the text by changing the font size, try changing the size of the layer instead - or the group containing the layer.by markspencer - Motion Re: Motion 3 and VideoCoPilot: Andrew Kramer - 15 years agoSo you can do all of that in Motion in 3D space - what is your specific question?by markspencer - Motion Re: Circular Text - 15 years agoThat's one way, but you don't need to turn the record button on and off repeatedly - turn it on, then every change you make is recorded as a keyframe.by markspencer - Motion Re: size of project - 15 years agoYou need to size the elements individually.by markspencer - Motion Re: upgrade behaviors? - 15 years agoI'm afraid not - you'll need Motion 3.by markspencer - Motion Re: graphic card - 15 years agoSure you can. The ATI x800xt or the radeon 6800 are good choices if you can find them. I've use both in that same machine. The radeon has a 4K texture limit as opposed to 2K on the ATI, but it also takes up two slots due to the cooling fins. But then it will drive two 30" monitors and the ATI will only drive one. So tough choice.by markspencer - Motion Re: Transitions in Motion - 15 years agoThe bottom of this article shows one exampleby markspencer - Motion |
