Try posting there ... you may get a response. Good luck. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Record 2+ cameras on one Mac with this application -Yes! - 15 years agoPeter, Interesting find. I've asked to participate in the beta. I can envision many uses for this program at our shop. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Control Surface - An opportunity... - 15 years agobscene , Color was introduced less than sixty days ago. It's going to take awhile (like 6months to a year) for more affordable control surfaces to hit the market. I have no doubt that entrepeneurs are working feverishly to create and market such inexpensive panels. Look at approximately a $1K price point. So many questions. So much to learn. Contact a local reseller and have them educate you on your options (there are many). markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Using Pro Tools with Final Cut Pro - 15 years agoOnce we've locked picture, we export an OMF, import that to Pro Tools and off you go. This is NOT a complicated process. I wonder how it holds up at full res... or even HD. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: P2 Card long term Media Storage after download - 15 years agoNo. No one has figured this out. That's what's keeping the P2 format from widespread adoption in certain markets that require archiving of original camera media. You mentioned three options but rejected them all for various reasons. You think there's a free lunch? There isn't. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Suggestions for Career Day at elementary school - 15 years agoThese are all great suggestions. I wish I had these ideas years ago when I did this for my son's elementary school class. After showing some clips of shows that I did, and trying to explain what an editor does, I asked the class if anyone had any questions. A little girl in the front row raised her hand and proudly exclaimed, "I have a kitty!" That pretty much sums up the gby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: HD Cam submission - 15 years agoNick, In HD land, 59.94 is the equivelent to 29.97. markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: HD Cam submission - 15 years agoWe recently had a documentary that played in the Tribeca Film Festival. They had similar delivery requirements. Here's my advice for you. Finish on HD. That is, put all of your DV material into an HD 1080 timeline and do your final color correction/ grfx, etc. there. In our case, since the original material was shot 4X3, we chose to "pilar box" the image rather than blow it up fby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Poor quality when broadcast - 15 years agoOnce you turn over a tape, you're at the mercy of many different links in the chain to it's final destination on your home TV. There's the broadcast entity. The satelite link. The local cable provider. Your own DVR. Any one of these links is quite capable of turning your pristine footage into pixelated dog poo! Realistically speaking, they all contribute a little bit. No permissions? Yikes. Be sure you get paid before you turn over the project. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: OfflineRT Help - 15 years agoYou have a mismatch between your clips and your sequence settings. Check again. Something is different. markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Blurring Logos in AE and adding back to FCP - 15 years agoCheck the FAQ ranch. This question has been asked and answered numerous times. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Up-Res Issues - 15 years agoKevin, Sounds like you have a timecode issue. FYI, we hand check and correct every sequence that we up res. Depending on the show, anywhere from 5 -25% of the shots need a "bump". We redigitize with "handles" specifically for this purpose. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Training - 15 years agoAnd... don't forget Diana Weynand. She wrote the book (literally) "Final Cut Pro for Avid Editors". markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Quicktime 7.1.6 is out! - 15 years agoAha. I see that now. Bummer. I was soooo looking forward to a burnt in window! Maybe there's still hope. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Quicktime 7.1.6 is out! - 15 years agoI took the plunge. Loaded it up, but can't seem to make the Time Code appear. Checking the "info" window and the timecode track is present. I checked "ON" in the preference setting, but still no joy. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: HD Format recommendation? - 15 years agoI love the smell of celluloid in the morning.... kinda smells like..... victory. To carry the metaphor further, unlike Kurtz, I know when it's pointless to pursue a lost cause. I ain't arguing my POV any more. No winning any hearts and minds here. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: HD Format recommendation? - 15 years agoClayC, Even a film camera requires power (unless you're talking an old Bolex). Tech support? Same issue for a film camera. If it breaks (either camera) you're hosed. Sensitive video gear? You may not want to pound nails with it, but last time I checked, most video gear was up to the challenge of extreme location shooting. Extra video crew? Come on. AK, Not exactly true. We've been working with the XdCAM Standard Version (Not HD) for over three years. The HD Version is just an extrapolation of the earlier SD version. We're not in HD yet, so I can't comment on that, for for SD, the &quoby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: XDCAM vs HVX200 720p - 15 years agoPepsi or Coke. Take your pick. There's a HUGE difference between how Avid handles file naming and how FCP does it. As you already know, with Avid you can "rename" a clip in the bin as much as you want. That's because avid assigns a unique name to every "object". If you peek in the media manager, you'll find an inby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: LA places to get SD upconverted - 15 years agoAlso "Alpha Dogs" Digital service station. Or rename files on disk to match clips in bins. What about in a workgroup environment? Is there a way to DISABLE this? This is an EXTREMELY compressed photoJPEG codec that reduces the frame size to 320 X 240, and steps on the picture so much that calling it "Blocky" is an understatement. Having said that, we use it exclusively for our off-line format. It saves a ton of storage and bandwidth making certain workflows quite easby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Final Cut 6 - 15 years agoYes, I'm at NAB. "Final Cut Server" is #1 on my list to explore today. Based on the presentation yesterday.... FCS sounds very interesting! This is Apple's answer to Avid's "Interplay", and it promises to offer many improvements to the networked workflow. I'll post more after I've had a chance to speak with Apple. Markby mark raudonis - Café LA Re: Final Cut 6 - 15 years agoAll this software will NOT be available for at least a month... so , no we haven't used these new apps.
