Liked the part about the program transfer on cassette. Shame on them for not calling it the real thing... Datassette. Ahhh, those were the good old days! Thanks for sharing.by Marco Solorio - Café LA Re: Converting 12 bit Audio to 16 bit - 16 years agoWell, I can say that I've never had conversion issues on my end on import to a 48k timeline, whether the audio was 44.1k or 32k, but then again, it's pretty rare that I don't get a clip that's 48k. Good points, Derek. The only time I do a manual conversion are on MP3 files, but that's due to the inherent codec format of MP3s and not so much because of the frequency rate or bit-depth. But yeah,by Marco Solorio - Café LA Re: Converting 12 bit Audio to 16 bit - 16 years agoWell once you bring it into an FCP timeline, the non-native audio format will import just fine as is and you can work with it. You might need to render that audio, but it'll drop into the timeline without a problem and you can start working. Any reason you need to manually convert it?by Marco Solorio - Café LA Re: DVD Duplicator - 16 years agoJust a side note that the duplication is usually fairly simple and quick... it's the blasted printing that takes forever! For one, like any other codec format, the quality is not only predicated on which encoding application is performing the encode, but also the input in which the user enters the encoding variables. You Tube is a poor example of what FLV can do since their goal is to compress the heck out of it with a gazillion users adding vby Marco Solorio - Café LA Re: Best thing I learned at LAFCPUG meeting tonight - 16 years agoNick Baer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > The nice kid from SF's demo Kid? I still like the 2001FP's because they're 1600x1200, which is a hair better real estate than the newer widescreen variants IMO. I wouldn't have over 20 of these if I didn't like the first couple of them! ;-)by Marco Solorio - Café LA OT: Media Batch at LAFCPUG -- FREE license at raffle! Woohoo! - 16 years agoHey peoples, I'll be flying in tomorrow to show off Media Batch on the big screen at the LAFCPUG event. Three things to entice you to show up for the event... 1. I'll be giving away a FREE license as part of the raffle. And not just any old give-away, but the grand daddy of them all... a full Media Batch Pro Platinum Bundle Package. What does that include? Glad you asked. It includes Mediaby Marco Solorio - Café LA Re: droped frames - 17 years agoI'd read into Andrew's suggestion about fragmintation. If your drives have been fine over the years and it's just now starting to drop out for no apparent reason, this could be it. If you never defrag your drive, your media gets more and more spread out in time. A 1GB file could be spread out into hundreds/thousands of MB or even KB particles instead of one big file. Each interlaced field is one camera. For instance, field 1 is the left camera and field 2 is the right camera. You can edit it in any NLE. Then the 3D goggles/glasses make it so your eyes see it as a 3D union. There's a producer I work with that did this with underwater footage. Um. No. Oh, but it IS your fault since you're not CC'ing on a plasma screen! Ha, just kidding. I feel your pain. It's amazing what consumers get shoved down their throat.
