open your sequence settings, and check the Audio Outputs tab. if you want you can revert to 2, or if you want more than 2, close you sequence settings, and you should get a warning window which will offer you the ability to do a Stereo Mixdown, meaning you'll hear all tracks. if you don't (that warning can be disabled) open upby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: How do you change the track order? - 8 years agoand how about track naming... that would be (would have been) nice!by Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: How do you change the track order? - 8 years agono, sorry, that's it. you can't move the actual tracks, only shuffle the contents. rather than add a track up top, though, i would lock all video tracks (i've got that mapped to Control+Number Pad Zero) select all, then Option + down arrow, Option+ up or down arrow moves selected clip up or down a track. nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: What used Mac Pro to choose for FCP 7 - 8 years agooh, is it XDCam? you can edit that natively in FCP. however, it's processor intensive, so i'd say go with the most up to date machine you can. i cut a 3hr documentary last year, all XDcam. we cut on a range of machines, including 2 fairly recent MacBok Pros (2014 or 2015), an older iMac and a 2015 iMac. all had Yosemite. not too bad, but i think Mavericks would've been a tiny bit betteby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: What used Mac Pro to choose for FCP 7 - 8 years agowhat's the shooting format? will you be cutting off-line, with an eventual re-conform? nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Time Code Generator - 8 years agowith a generator, you have to select the settings that match your clip's frame-rate. you also have to set the right off-set to match your clip;s start time the time-code READER can be more reliable, if you just want to display the actual TC of the clip. nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: OS X El Capitan, what's the verdict? - 9 years agoSorry, i haven't gone there yet i was working on Maverick last year, then got put on a newer iMac with Yosemite, and i haven been loving my FCP experience. not terrible, but a couple of little bugs that are annoying (they may have been there under Mavericks, too, i just hadn't gotten far enough into the project to notice) i understand that CinemaTools is completely broken under El Capitaby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Dropped Frames Warning - 9 years agohi, that pic didn't work. you'll need to upload it to a picture hosting site. a lot of folks here use photobucket. nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Thunderbolt no longer works - 9 years agoHi, Joe. luckily i haven't had that problem, but found this from someone who had: "I just called up Apple and they ran me through a few processes to reset the motherboard, and it's all working now" here's the relevant info they linked to: actually the help article is named "How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac"by Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: exports are all squeezed vertically - FCP 5.1.4 - 9 years agosqueezed vertically? if everything is a bit tall and skinny, that would suggest you are working in standard def, anamorphic. that only appears to be 16/9. the actual screen ratio is 4/3, but it gets stretched out in FCP. but phone video would not be standard def. how did you get the video off your phone? can you post screen grabs? nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: transcoding XF-AVC to ProRes - 9 years agothis was not the most elegant solution, its just what i had to do given the tools at my disposal. setting the in and outs in compressor was not very accurate, and i think i had to eye match the shots back in, so if you have a LOT of them, i'd think about some other approach, something utilising the tools Dennis suggests, perhaps. --- edit--- remember for 4k, Resolve would have to beby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Reconnect media woes - 9 years agoas i said that format is not supported, so maybe this will never work. do the files work in on the one system, then not on the other when attempting a reconnect? you could try this test: make a copy of a project, take the files offline manually: select them in Final Cut Pro, then Shift+D, to open the Make Offline window, use the default "leave them on the disk" of course. attemby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Sharing Thunderbolt Storage - 9 years agowell you can't exactly share a single drive if that's what you're asking. no way to make a simple drive behave like a server. you could try having it hoked up to one Mac Mini via thunderbolt, and then network the two computers via ethernet, but unless the drive are raided, they probably ant be fast enough. iv'e been working for years with non-shared drives and the way we do it is this:by Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: transcoding XF-AVC to ProRes - 9 years agoi haven't worked with the Cannon C300, sorry. i did have some 4k drone footage recently, though not from a Cannon it scaled down horribly! i had to use Compressor, with frame controls set to to "Best" this is very time-consuming, so if, like us, you have hours of drone footage, do a standard down-res first, then revisit the selected portions and do a "best" quality downby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Reconnect media woes - 9 years ago"FCP (v 7.0.3) could not "locate" the clips" don't use Locate, use Search. Locate means you have to find the clips manually. the real trick to using duplicate drives is to give the drives identical names. Same drive name, and same file path means that FCP will reconnect instantly nevertheless, even if the drive names are different, a simple search from the reconnect wby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Mac Media player that allows 3x and greater smooth playback - 9 years agomaybe being non I-frame made it more difficult for speedy playback?by Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Need color corrector help - 9 years agoHi Stephan. so it's a multiclip? when you drag filter onto multiclips, just hold for a while before you drop them. you get an option to "apply to angle" but i don't think it does what you are hoping it does, which is to then apper in all instances of that angel used in the edit. (maybe it does, but i don't think so) what it does is make it so you can switch to the other angle,by Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Need color corrector help - 9 years agohave you tried "Captain's Blow-out fixer"? could help a little his skin tone looks like it needs bit more yellow, and/or a touch more saturation (to match the other shot) other than that, just don't use a lot of that angle! you're up agains it with that footage. cheers, nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Rotate Video - 9 years agoi wonder if there's an app to fix it while it's still on your phone? nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Multiclip audio question - 9 years agoyes you can set it up so a particular audio track is always present in the mutliclip. open the clip into the viewer, choose the angle with the good audio. it should have a blue and green outline chose what is switchable in your multiclip: from the middle pull-down menu at the top of the viewer, chose video. switch to another angle, and the video only should switch. that angle will havby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: "this computer will soon stop receiving google chrome updates because" RE: FCP7 - 9 years agowell I've been using FCP7 for some time on OSX 10.10, Yosemite. it working for me, but with some minor bugs, the most annoying being that the colour picker doesn't work as it used to, and colour matching now has to be done manually. if you don't do a lot of colour grading it won't bother you. gradually it'll work less and less well. what's the minimum OS you need for Chrome to work the wby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Mac Media player that allows 3x and greater smooth playback - 9 years agoHi, Joe. i'm playing a clip in VLC and Quicktime at 3x speed, and its not too bad. it's ProresLT, so a relatively low datarate. what are you trying to play back? would faster drives help? nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Software for moving or copying files from one drive to another - 9 years agoi haven't had any serious problems simply copying the files from one drive to the other. if you are copying from Camera cards, then there is a priority to do a careful, verified copy. otherwise, simple drag n drop, or copy & paste, is fine. Carbon Copy Cloner will verify copies it makes, i believe. (takes longer of course) also there is an article about checksum verification you could rby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Ideal Audio Level Range - 9 years agosure. use the "gain" audio filter, as the 12db you get in the clip itself won't be enough. but then listen to the two sources and decide which is best. hopefully you wont be bringing up too much noise on the zoom. nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: FCP 7 Render Manager will not delete render files - 9 years agoother things to look at: where are you rendering to? is it perhaps the system drive? or a drive you don't have permissions to? do you have another drive you can use as a render drive? why not just delete from the finder? nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: FCP 7 Render Manager will not delete render files - 9 years agoi haven't had problems deleting render files via the finder. maybe it's time to give it a go. nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: ProRes 422HQ - 9 years agowhat's the format of the video are your working with?by Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: FCP says 10 fps, Quicktime says 29.74 - 9 years agoopen the file in CinemaTools, and conform it to the frame rate you need. that should sort it out. nickby Nick Meyers - Café LA Re: Limit Effect in Color Corrector 3-Way won't select Chroma in FCP7 - 9 years agothis function has broken for me under Yosemite. in fact eyedropper behaviour is broken in general. in generators, the presented eyedropper wont work, but clicking on the colour swatch opens the new-look Yosemite colour picker, and the eyedropper in that window DOES work. BUT that isn't an option in the Colour Correction filters colour matching has to be done manually now. when lby Nick Meyers - Café LA |
