yeah, as i was reading the posts I started thinking about my workflow and getting something to dvd. and I started wondering if I was bringing in stuff at the best quality so that it was consistent when it came time to putting it on dvd. so that's where my questions came from. so far, stuff I've been putting on dvd look good but if there are better options to keep an eye out for it's always gooby PhillyFilmmaker - Café LA

On the subject of timecodes, is there a way to get the timecode to show on the screen bigger kind of like the way Pro Tools shows time/beats?? or is that some sort of plug in or part of some other software that works with FCP?by PhillyFilmmaker - Café LA

I use the Canon XL2 and set it to 16:9 60i whenever I have to record company events. And while I'm on this subject, I sometimes also use the Panasonic DVX100B. But I usually use the 24p mode with this camera. What settings should I have FCP set on when I capture the footage to get the best quality? and the on the timeline? and then when I'm ready to export? Audio hardware setup with your FCP editing suite (home setups or pro set ups) - 15 years ago
Hello, I'm curious to know how other people have their audio hardware set up with their FCP editing suites. At home, I have a basic set up. Audio Interface (mbox2 Pro), krk 4's, headphones. But at work I only have pc speakers and headphones. Do i need more? Or, is there anything else I should look into?by PhillyFilmmaker - Café LA
Who pays for your Macs? - 15 years ago
Do you guys pay for your own Macs or does your company pay for them? What are your thoughts on having your email and stuff on the same machine as your editing, audio, etc. ? Ideally I would eventually like to have a separate machine for editing, audio (sound/music) then a personal machine (laptop?) Thoughts?by PhillyFilmmaker - Café LA

Whoo hoo!!! Tonight begins the 48 hr movie thingamahoozy!! I have a credits question. Since all of us on our team do a little bit of everything in putting this thing together, with the exception of the writing, does it matter if more than one name is listed under the credits for Producer, director, dp/cinematographer, etc...? Converting 60i to 24p - 15 years ago
Hello! I have video that was shot with two different cameras in two different ways. A Canon XL2 shot as 16:9 60i and a Panasonic DVX200A shot as 24p widescreen. The cameras were used to record the same thing from two diff angles. So of course, the color, etc.. look different when I'm watching and editing. So, I have a 'friend', that does video work at this place. He's the only person that does video work there. He videotapes company events. Training sessions. Sometimes does videos for users for specific things. Other people sometimes work with him but they're usually the people who requested the service. I would like to know, how high tech was the equipment Scorcese used to make this? Could Hitchcock's style be duplicated using a couple of Panasonic DVX100's, a Canon XL2, FCP and AE? Of course, this all has to start with a decent story and characters.by PhillyFilmmaker - Show and Tell

One of the things we discussed was the connection between the cop and the girl with the suitcase. We also discussed whether the girl with the knife was really needed. for the music, I think I concentrated more on the italian guy having a deep low tone whenever he was in the scene with the exception of when he was talking to the character "Dominic" before he broke his neck. What's up DMok!!! No need to be sorry! I know it's gonna take some work to improve those areas but I think we'll eventually get there. We actually are a collective with everyone doing a bit of everything. Your feedback is valuable to us and I hope we can improve more next time. Hi, I have a ton of names, 511 to be exact to be put in as credits for a corp video. Is there a fast way I can get these names in? I basically just want to scroll through all the names. Nothing fancy. Or, would it be cooler to create credits using after effects?by PhillyFilmmaker - Café LA

Quality of export to movie file - 15 years ago
I know there was a post of this some where but what would be the causes and solutions to poor quality when exporting to a movie file? Sometimes text comes out all blurry and not as sharp. Sometimes, ok most of the time, the picture quality isnt as good as when you choose uncompressed 8-bit. please enlighten me on this part of the workflow process. thanks!!!by PhillyFilmmaker - Café LA
