Exporting from within FCP to Compressor has pro-cons. Con: Locks up FCP Pro: Automatically places compression markers at every cut/dissolve. About the re-render thing.... I didn't see that in the docs.by ChrisMoriarty - Café LA Eureka "Slip-Slide Tool" - 16 years agoFor all the Avid users switching to FCP. 1 year later I discover this by accident. Selecting a clip using the "Slip-Slide Tool" Trim Back-Forward left-right slides the clip 1 frame like the "lasso slip" Avid method. Shift Trim advances 10 frames. I've been mouse dragging that tool for a year. Noticed it on an audio waveform yesterday with the Slip-Slide engaged.by ChrisMoriarty - Café LA Re: Can I re-connect thumbnails in Timeline? - 16 years agoWhen a the HD for a certain project is missing and the related project defaults to open. Backing out of the "missing HD" prompt causes missing thumbnails. Just happened to me 5 min. ago. So... in FCP turn off "Open Last Project" when swapping out drives. So.. I was hoping for more of an analog "mickey mouse" double speed "tape" sound. Then edit into the timeline then using "Round trip", to make changes. This had re-render issues as sometime the Motion project would lose a render connection intermittently. When you start & stop the recording everything is sub-clipped.. so no exporting a small clip. Smooth cam is absolutely amazing when shooting on the long end of the lens IE: 2x (takes out the wind shakes or bumps) Lately I've been recording @ 60 frames a sec and doubling the dolly speed, pan speed or zoom.
