Nah, that's crazy talk!! debby debe - Café LA Re: MXF files to be converted - 15 years agoClick on Lafceepug the LAFCPUG FAQ pony on the left hand side of your screen. There's a thread right at the top that should help you! It's titled, "How do I import footage from a Panasonic P2 card into FCP?" (I'd post the link, but I'm on an excruciatingly slow PeeCee at a client's office, and copying and pasting links is so painful that it makes me want to eat glass because tby debe - Café LA Re: OT: Andrew Jackson airs this Sunday - 15 years agoI thought it was Carmen Miranda's headwear that was fruity.... debby debe - Café LA Re: OT: Andrew Jackson airs this Sunday - 15 years agoDidja get to keep a bayonet? It'll help keep those unruly producers in line when you sign on for your series!! debby debe - Café LA Re: Scratch Disk Setup when opening new project?? - 15 years agoYou are absolutely correct, Derek. It was more of a wishful thinkin' on my part. Kerfuffled tape numbers just would have made my day longer. As it was, I left at 8am. For the most part, it was a smooth process. There was one tape on which the cameraman went "around the clock". When that failed the first time, I skipped it. At this point, I don't even know if I need those clips.by debe - Café LA Re: Scratch Disk Setup when opening new project?? - 15 years agoI'm just hoping that the tape numbers are correct. (Cross fingers, knock on wood, throw salt over left shoulder, turn around counterclockwise three times) This is the first time I've worked with these guys, so I don't know yet how close attention to detail they are...other than the obvious. I'm not sure how this project came into being. According to them, it's unlike anything they've done bby debe - Café LA Re: Scratch Disk Setup when opening new project?? - 15 years agoNope. The other bad word....Maxtor. I believe it's the One Touch. A decision made months before I was called for the project. I told 'em two weeks ago that working without a backup was a scary proposition. Then they made me go away for two weeks while the author monkeyed with the script. Someone was supposed to "look into it" in the meanwhile. I'm guessing it got put on the bacby debe - Café LA Re: Scratch Disk Setup when opening new project?? - 15 years agoHow about a checkbox in the User Preferences: "Prompt to change Scratch Disk with New Project" Then those who'd like it can turn it on, those who say, "blech!" can turn it off! Depending on my workload and workflow, I could see liking both under different cirrcumstances. I like options! deb (yeah, I'd put it in the suggestion box, but I'm currently recapturinby debe - Café LA Re: Modestly OT AppleCare? - 15 years agoWell...we have a 3 year old PowerBook that's had a dent in the corner since is was about 6 months old that's had 2 AppleCare claims on it since the dent. One was for a bad screen and the other was a recent DOA hard drive. No one at out local Apple Store tried to tell us that the AC was null and void because of the dent. Both repairs were made under the AppleCare agreement. It won't encode your entire timeline. debby debe - Café LA Re: FCP to PowerPoint - 15 years agoOkay. and in the meantime, I'll try to be more careful about being in the right threads before I answer stuff!! Again, sorry! debby debe - Café LA Re: OT Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day - 15 years agoPirate Movies... I've been downloading iPod video files from vendors and they play back just fine on the iPhone. debby debe - Café LA Re: Media Going Offline? - 15 years agoWell, if it's going to happen to me again, it'll be in the next few days. My deadline for picture lock is Sunday. I get the audio mix back on Tuesday and I have to deliver masters and DVDs by Wednesday morning... If anything is going to crash and burn on me, it'll be...oh....about...NOW. Still....sure beats workin' for a livin'! ;P debby debe - Café LA Re: Media Going Offline? - 15 years agoI know you weren't asking me, Jude, but for those keeping score, both my disappearing clips were captured video files from tape. debby debe - Café LA Re: Log & Capture Issues - 15 years agoAny chance the tape was recorded in LP mode? If that's it, the only device that will likely play it back correctly is the one that recorded it. debby debe - Café LA Re: Media Going Offline? - 15 years agoI've had it happen twice in the past 2 weeks or so. Two clips disappeared off my Sonnet 500P SATA enclosure. One was a 15 minute inteview chunk, and the other was a 2 minute or so hunk o'B-Roll. The disappeances were about two days apart, maybe 4. It never happened before that I can recall, and I haven't updated anything in several months because I never seem to be "between projects"by debe - Café LA Re: Have some fun with this post. - 16 years agoI'm going to suggest underfloor wiring and troughs for the bits that have to be above ground. debby debe - Café LA Re: OT - the "murch-esque" stand-up desk... - 16 years agoChris has what Dan has, so I think we're set!! Thanks! debby debe - Café LA Re: OT - the "murch-esque" stand-up desk... - 16 years agoWhy, yes, yes it is, Mike! (although I'm pretty certain I can't call it "composing". That talent is squarely in the camp of the musical geniuses at SmartSound!!) My current project is scheduled to end on Wednesday. (it had better, the event is on Thursday!) My plan is to get crackin' on the music for the SuperMeet Thursday and Friday of this week. Are we expecting any additionsby debe - Café LA Re: OT: Can anyone out there make me feel better about owning a Mac? - 16 years agoWell, don't put too much weight on the Juicer 2 unexpectedly quitting. It became unstable with an OS update sometime before OSX 10.4.9. Digital Juice didn't put any resources into it because they were on the cusp of releasing Juicer 3. I spoke with a CSR about a month ago because the Juicer 2 would quit if I did something as benign as attempt to resize a window. I installed the Juicer 3by debe - Café LA Re: Mortis vibration - 16 years agoFrom thefreedictionary.com: 1. mortise - a square hole made to receive a tenon and so to form a joint. mortice hole - an opening deliberately made in or through something mortise-and-tenon joint, mortise joint - a joint made by inserting tenon on one piece into mortise holes in the other I think the second one is what we're after! debby debe - Café LA |
