Trevor has a good suggestion about Pictureready and Virtual VTR if you are excerpting from a limited number of feeds. I havn't used that specific product, but am aware of it. That way you can record the format you want to finish in and edit the QT movies on FCP directly. As for support Quicktime with EVS. My understanding is a bit dated, but I should have mby VPiccin - Café LA Re: EVS and FCP anyone? - 16 years agoUnfortunatly I don't think so. There are several control protacols on the XT for various types of connections. IPDP, BVW75, DD35, Odedics are the ones that come to mind. You can try other than BVW 75, but I wouldn't expect much. DD35, which is a switcher protocal MAY give you instant cue, but I am not holding my breath. All the 6 ports are identical on the XT save number 1. That is the one thby VPiccin - Café LA Re: EVS and FCP anyone? - 16 years agoI didn't think it would. I have tried to do this in the past and never found a way to make it cue quckly. -Vby VPiccin - Café LA Re: EVS and FCP anyone? - 16 years agoTrevor- I have heard from the EVS folks here in the US that the Avid workflow works well. They had a demo of it set up in their booth at NAB. Unfortuantly there are issues with FCP. As I understand it Apple is dragging their feet in working with EVS. It is possible to transcode via XFile and deposit the media on shared drives. You have to manually import to FCP. Transcode and transfer timesby VPiccin - Café LA Re: Can Composite Modes Be Keyed? - 17 years agoHow about this... Build a version that has the Bug over the Background. Keyframe the move, set the composite mode to Screen. Now copy both layers to a new sequence. In this sequence set the compoiste mode to overlay. Now nest the second sequence. Copy the resulting single track back to your first sequence on top of the existing layers. Either keyframe the opacity of the nest, or trim toby VPiccin - Café LA Re: Off Air recording with TOD timecode - 17 years agoKoz has a good point. The timecode must be in phase with the video. For an off air recording this means a frame sync and a timecode generator that are referenced to the same sync source. -Vby VPiccin - Café LA Re: AES / EBU audio problems... - 17 years agoYou say the condition lights on the deck are flickering. The Green/yellow/red condtion lights on a digibeta deck montior the data stream being recorded on tape. Things like drop outs on the tape, clean or worn out heads can cause data errors. The format is able to do some error correction and produce usable audio and video, but you get a yellow light to tell you that there is a problem. A red ligby VPiccin - Café LA Re: Off Air recording with TOD timecode - 17 years agoJude- I purchased a device from Telcom Research, the Easy Reader 1.5. This little box will take timecode and insert into a data stream on RS232. It includes a play status in that stream as well. This then passes thorough an included RS232-422 convertor into the 9 pin on my Kona card. When you do a capture now with a Sony machine control selected you get whatever timecode you send to the Easby VPiccin - Café LA Re: Order of credits on a tv show. - 17 years agoI suppose this is just cold, but the only credit position that I insist on is that may name immediatly follow the phrase "Pay to the order of" :-)by VPiccin - Café LA Re: Media Manager almost ready for primetime - 17 years agoLike Philip I found that adding timecode lets media manager work correctly. In my case I do a lot of live capture of sporting events in progress. I am thrilled to find that just adding a reel number works as well. Now here is my "wish" list. In a future release of FCP could we have the live capture feature make a reel called "live" or something user definable? And could timby VPiccin - Café LA Re: removing filters from multiple cips at once - 17 years agoIf you are feeling lucky try this. Export your timeline as an XML. Open the XML in Text Edit Find the first time in the file where you filter is mentioned Highlight everything associated with that filter. This could be a good size block of information. On the test I did I used the Eight-Point garbage matte, and the stuff associated with it was about a screen and a half long on my laptby VPiccin - Café LA |
