Works fine for me.by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: How to best work with H.264 files in FCP 7 - 15 years agoI always convert files from the Flip HD to DVCPRO HD.by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Multi Cam - 15 years ago<"What the heck were you THINKING you big footage galoot?" *whack* *biff* > Shane, One thing I learned from another editor (and I don't know if this is fact or an assumption) is that sometimes cameramen (especially younger ones) turn their cameras off because they are afraid a producer might look at their footage and see a 10 minute shaky shot of the camera pointed at the grby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Multi Cam - 15 years agoI think what digs is asking is if there is a way to make a multiclip sequence from auxiliary timecode. Something I've wondered myself. For instance if I have all my camera angles in sync with each other on the timeline, is there a way to tell FCP to make a multiclip sequence based off the clip's placement on the timeline? I think Avid does this? Yes , no maybe?by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Larry David, compressed - 15 years agojc, You need to export>quicktime This will default to export whatever your sequence settings are. *NOT* export>quicktime conversionby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: digitizing dilemma - 15 years agoYes! It's always a good idea to de-interlace interlaced footage when creating a quicktime for the web.by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Formats: mpeg2 - wmv - mov - 15 years agoOK...thought so...you can do a program stream MPEG-2 in Compressor as well...by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Formats: mpeg2 - wmv - mov - 15 years agoThe client probably needs a program stream mpeg2. The easiest way for me is to use mpegstreamclip (it's free). Just export a self-contained quicktime, drop it in mpegstreamclips and export an mpeg with MP2 audio. www.squared5.com for a WMV get flip4mac (it's not free). As far as an .mov you need to ask the client specifically what he needs and what it will be used for. -Mattby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: 2 TB Internal Drives - 15 years agoThanks Ben! Actually on 2nd look this is a Western Digital drive. Does that change your suggesition at all?by mattsilfen - Café LA 2 TB Internal Drives - 15 years agoI currently have 3 of 4 internal hard drive bays filled in my octocore mac pro and was looking to fill the 4th. I see OWC has a 2 TB Seagate available to purchase. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about this drive? By the way, I'll be editing DVCPRO HD footage. And these are NOT in a RAID. Any input would be great. -Mattby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Can you toggle between the razor tool and the arrow tool? - 16 years agoI don't think I have ever used the razor blade tool...ever. Control-v all the way.by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: media 100".HAL" file import to final cut can it be done? - 16 years agoIf you find an answer please please post. I have a bunch of exported quicktimes myself from Media 100 that I can't get to play on my final cut system. Audio plays fine. Video is all white I've done some research and while there's a downloadable transcoder from Media100's website, there isn't anything available for intel macs (My files played fine on my old Job's G5-with media 100 transcodeby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Import single frame stills for animation - 16 years agoworked like a charm! Thanks! -Mattby mattsilfen - Café LA Import single frame stills for animation - 16 years agoI checked the WIKI but couldn't find an answer, so sorry if I missed something. I have about 7,000 .png files I need to convert to an image sequence that I can edit in Final Cut. I'd like to overlay the images with an alpha channel over a DVCPRO HD sequence. The company I work for doesn't yet have after effects, so I'm trying to figure out if this can be done in Final Cut/Motion/Quicktime?by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Can you apply "Basic Motion" parameter changes to multiple items simulatneously? - 16 years agoVery easy. MAke the changes you want to your first clip. Then select all your other clips and then click edit>paste attributes and make sure you have the motion box checked. Easy. -Mattby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Project will not save in FCP 6.01 - 16 years agoThis has happened to me before. Another workaround is to save as...that works for me.by mattsilfen - Café LA Slightly OT: Reel Numbers - 16 years agoJust curious- How are you all physically labeling the reel numbers on your tapes? Are you printing out labels - say, in something like filemaker with reel numbers assigned and automatically printed along with the other tape information? Or do you guys have numbered stickers? (The kind that come in a roll and are sequentially ordered in pairs so one goes on the tape and one goes on the caby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: XXX Quad Core XXX - 16 years agoNice J! Can I just plug in a snowball mic and record into the VO tool in FCP???by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: 2 cinema displays - 16 years agoGot it. Very cool but man, those extra cables dangling are cumbersome.by mattsilfen - Café LA 2 cinema displays - 16 years agoThis is a really dumb question but I just bought a brand spankin' new mac pro. I have 2 20" cinema displays and a NVIDIA Geforce 8800 video card and I don't quite understand how to get these 2 displays connected. In the manual it says to connect the cinema displays with DVI, Firewire 400 and USB. But there's only 1 firewire 400 port on the back of the mac pro! So how do i account for tby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: from Illustrator/Photoshop to FCP - 16 years agoJoe - By "Illustrator Image" do you mean a saved tiff from AI? Then you can save that and drag the psd into the canvas and save and import?by mattsilfen - Café LA NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT - 16 years agoDoes anyone know when the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT will ship with the New Mac Pros? I know it says 3-5 days on the apple website but it's said that for 10 days. I'm sick of waiting this out!!by mattsilfen - Café LA HDV Deck - 16 years agoI'm planning to buy a DV deck but I'd like to get one that does HDV too. I've been looking at the Sony HVR-M15U. Anyone have any experience with this deck? Good/bad? And can anyone recommed a vendor to buy one? Allllsoooooo does anyone know where to get sequentially numbered stickers to be used for tape library purposes? You know the kind...one on the case, one on the tape..... Thankby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: Advice on a new Mac Pro - 17 years agoSounds good guys. Thanks so much! One more question. Is it true all the RAM modules have to be the same size? Lets say I get 8 Gigs ram with 4 2 gig modules If I have 2 512mb slots filled from apple do I have to remove them? Or is it safe to leave them in, giving me 9 gigs of ram?by mattsilfen - Café LA Advice on a new Mac Pro - 17 years agoPlanning to buy a new mac pro but woah...is Apple memory expensive! Do you guys recommend using pre installed memory from Apple or should I buy it elsewhere? I was planning on getting 6 mb of RAM. Should I go with the 512 on 2 slots and then get the rest *cheaper* and install it myself? Is this a better idea? And finally I suppose I have a similar question about the hard drives. I waby mattsilfen - Café LA Re: HDV Log and Capture - 17 years agoI believe it has something to do with the GOB structure. I think, with HDV footage, FCP will see a break in the gop and end the clip, regardless of a timecode break. Either that or the camera was set to time of day??? What version of FCP are you using?by mattsilfen - Café LA Re: HELP DEADLINE - Burned DVD's have strobbing error - 17 years agoYou're guessing right. If you encode once, you don't have to again. Just pop in another DVD and hit burn and it should take just a few minutes.by mattsilfen - Café LA |
