I have 50 minutes in my DV NTSC 48K time line and I need to export it to a QuickTime movie that will fit on a data DVD. What menus and settings would would I use to accomplish this? Thanks in advance for any help!by jdredline - Café LA Re: Digitizing 35mm Telecine transfers into FCP/Cinema Tools - 16 years agoBut that hour-thing on the Dailies would have nothing to do with me. That would be the house that did the transfers. They don't seem to have a "system."by jdredline - Café LA Re: Digitizing 35mm Telecine transfers into FCP/Cinema Tools - 16 years agoThanks for reminding about that control-click the clips tip! I'll let everyone know what happens to put closure to this thread.by jdredline - Café LA Re: Digitizing 35mm Telecine transfers into FCP/Cinema Tools - 16 years agoI think I found it. Thanks everyone for your instant help! Movie was shot last November/ December. They did re-shoots in May of this year and used the same Telecine house, yet, they logged the ALE as "001" also. If I change that day's ALE reel name on each item to "026", create new a new datatbase, will I be able to simply change the Reel Name in the Reel column of FCby jdredline - Café LA Re: Digitizing 35mm Telecine transfers into FCP/Cinema Tools - 16 years agoYes. Hour 1 is listed as "001" in the "Reel" column, and the second Hour 1 is listed as "021" (Just a quick FYI - I'm the 3rd Assistant Editor hired to fix this problem)by jdredline - Café LA Digitizing 35mm Telecine transfers into FCP/Cinema Tools - 16 years agoFirst my questions: Each day of Dailies is on a separate tape designated by its hour. First day = Hour 1, second day = Hour 2 and so on.... What happens on the 25th day? Is there an hour 25? Or does it revert back to Hour 1. And if there is a second tape of Hour 1, how does FCP distinguish between the two tapes which has the correct data? It seems the Source TC is the only referencby jdredline - Café LA Re: Finalizing offline edit in 29.97 for 23.98 HDCam online capture - 16 years agoWell, I'm no pro on the matter, but I'm dealing with a similar problem on my project so I'll share what I've learned so far. My project is 35mm transferred to 29.97 video - sort of the same situation for you. (24fps originals) Once the project is captured at 29.97, you then reverse telecine the footage to make it 23.98. Then you edit in 23.98 timelines and your final lists will match up in yby jdredline - Café LA Tagging shots for DI pull lists - 16 years agoWhen working with 35mm finishing on DI and I have clips that need CG work on them - how do I tag the clip so that it will show up on the VFX/Optical pull lists which I produce for the house that's scanning the negative?by jdredline - Café LA Re: Cinema Tools database Extension - 16 years agoNick Meyers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ... > and who are THEY? > anyway, they are wrong. > of curse you can do that. > > > nick I assume Koz was referring to Apple. I was just being sarcastic in reby jdredline - Café LA Re: Cinema Tools database Extension - 16 years agoYeah, they have a lot of silly rules. They're trying to tell me if I rent a system out for post production and in the end, copy over everything to my own drives to take with me, I can't? Textedit opens it, but dots and lines, and characters an occasional item that could be read. I even told Cinema Tools to open it and it said it didn't recognize this type of file. What is the extension I need to add onto the filename to make Cinema Tools recognize it?by jdredline - Café LA Re: Help with my EDLs - 16 years agoJust a correction to my first post for future seekers of this problem. I referred to Cinema Tools as not being able to use Cam Roll info when creating EDLs. EDLs are not created by Cinema Tools - They're exported from FCP and there is currently no option to select Cam Roll # instead of Tape #. Using the pull lists created in CT, the EDLs in FCP, and Excel (any spreadsheet software wouldby jdredline - Café LA Re: Help with my EDLs - 16 years agoNick, thank you so much for all your help with this problem. Unfortunately, no solution worked except the dreaded "hard" way. Making a copy of the project, I changed all the clips' reel #s to Cam Roll #. The EDLs worked fine - cam roll info provided as needed. But Cinema Tools is no longer able to link up their database with the project and all the film lists came up with missiby jdredline - Café LA Re: Help with my EDLs - 16 years agoNot sure what you mean by "batches." I'm assuming you are referring to exporting a batch list? Put it in Excel, then simply copy & paste Cam roll column to Reel column. Import back into FCP and all the info is there. 2 problems with that: FCP does not include any film information when exporting batch lists. The Cam Roll & key code columns in Excel are there, they're justby jdredline - Café LA Re: Subtitles in After Effects - 16 years agoPerhaps you're not familiar with it, but LiveType comes with FC Studio and is amazing for doing titles - lots of presets - and already integrated into FCPby jdredline - Café LA Re: Help with my EDLs - 16 years agoOkay, I just spent 2 hours manually editing my EDL to list the Cam Roll # instead of Tape Roll #. And that's just the first reel of 6 total - about 300 cuts on that EDL. That was fun - NOT! In those 2 hours, I couldn't help but think that there MUST be an easier way. Here's what my brain came up with: My editor is emailing me the Cinema Tools database later tonight. The footage was reverse telecined in Cinema Tools and edited in 23.98 timelines. The company that is scanning the footage, requires along with pull lists, 24FPS EDLs with "Cam Roll" information. Their scanned elements will reference this info instead of "Tape #" when conformby jdredline - Café LA |
