Since luggage is subject to inspection I think he needs to have a Hard Case Built that will safely transport the monitor. David Riddle (in L.A.) ships Sony PVM's packed in cardboard, engineered to withstand 5 drops from 3 feet onto concrete but if they are opened for inspection itby MitchSink - Café LA iMac (which one?) or Mac Pro for Large (SD) Archiving Project - 14 years agoHi, A close friend in India is going to purchase a Mac and Final Cut Studio. He doesn't have much video knowledge or experience. He has about 300 or 400 hours of footage, mostly lectures. The footage is VHS/SVHS. Getting the best quality possible is a high priority. He plans to: 1. Capture to DV25 (using a Canopus ADVC300). 2. Do a little simple editing. I talked to Ray at Omni-Cinema Craft a few weeks ago and he told me they are pretty far along with testing their CCE-MP Compressor Plug-in. He asked me not to say anything until they are ready for a formal announcement. He said the code is the same as their Cinema Craft Xtream, which I think is their high end Hardware encoder. I did find out yesterday (sent an Easy Setup to Tech Support) that the Easy Setups do contain the Custom Presets, which are not separate files (at least in FCP 5.0.4). I should have posted that information here. I apologize if answering a question I had already found the answer to was an inconvenience. Thanks Again, Mitchby MitchSink - Café LA Re: Replace it! - 16 years agoHi, First look for a bargain on a G5. If you are patient you can find a better than average deal on a G5. The key is to patiently keep looking and jump on a bargain. Even if you don't do that its not hard to find a Power Mac Dual G5 for about $650 on Ebay. Then I created some Easy Setups that use these presets. Can I copy the Easy Setups to another machine or do I need to create or copy the Custom Presets in order for the Easy Setups to work? Mitchby MitchSink - Color Re: Color Correction: Use Color? How to Learn Color Correction and Color? HW For Color? - 16 years agoHi Michael, Would you recommend FCP CC or Color? If both will do an equal job is one or the other a lot easier to use? Thanks Again! Mitchby MitchSink - Color Color Correction: Use Color? How to Learn Color Correction and Color? HW For Color? - 16 years agoHi, I don't know very much about Color Correction. We have roughly 80 one hour videos (mostly talking head) that need some tweaking. Exposures are often not very good (faces are frequently too dark) and the colors could sometimes be improved. My choices are (I think) FCP Three Way, Color or Colorista. Best Wishes, Mitchby MitchSink - Café LA Re: SVHS, Hi 8 - 16 years agoHi, You might get a little better quality with an AJA IO or AJO IO LA and capturing as PhotoJpeg at 75% (a 4:2:2 codec that is better than DV). Also use a good SVHS or Hi8 Deck and use the Y/C signal. Best Wishes, Mitchby MitchSink - Café LA |
