If you want quick mass duplications (well up to 10 at a time) check out Disk Maker's web site Disk Makers Duplicator We've been very happy with the machine - There are others that duplicate and print 50 to 500 at a time but they take much longer because they are simply automating the burning and printing - one at a time. There's a company in Rockville, Maryland that does a great job with this -- they can transcribe and caption for you (more expensive) or provide the transcript (much cheaper) Forget those voice recognition programs - you must train them to a particular voice - reading pre-digested copy (I have MacSpeach) - one of the best packages out there - and it works great if you train to your voice - haveby Andy Field - Café LA

They make very good products -- their MovieLogger program has saves us countless hours of drudge work -- it reads timecode from quick time files - you never have to type another number or : again -- all keystrokes -- makes logging a breeze. on plain old macbook I've edited DVCPRO HD footage via straight firewire 400 and 800 on plain old bus driven drives and GRAID's. No problemby Andy Field - Café LA

Hold your horses, cavalry -- you CAN edit just fine on a plane old vanilla MacBook - my film school daughter does it every day - load up with lots of ram - use a fast external drive and you are ok. MacBook pros are FASTER -- but FCP Studio 2 works like a charm on a regular MacBook - get as much ram as possible.by Andy Field - Café LA

Many of the JVC DV decks also playback DVCAM -- you can NOT playback DVCAM in a regular DV deck unless it's specifically designed to read DVCAM -- think the tape pitch and speed is a little different than regular DV - you will probably be able to hear the sound on playback but the picture will be garbled And DV is DV is DV -- it's digital bits - ones and zeros -- if the camera or deck's able tby Andy Field - Café LA

Graphic Problem ? appreciate advice I?m trying to get a circular logo to remain a circle in FCP I?ve done what I thought I should do (take the original graphic ? place it on a 720 by 540 Photoshop page ? then with CONSTRAIN PROPORTIONS UNCHECKED (it?s off) Change the aspect ratio of that photoshop file to 720 by 480 and bring into FinalCut to make up for the pixel difference It looks fiby Andy Field - Café LA

There are Digital 8mm cameras that play HI8 and Digital 8 -- you can either pick one cheaply on EBAY or try to borrow one -- they have firewire out...will playback HI 8 and record Digital 8 -- about 350 on Amazon -- Digital 8/Hi 8 Camera with DV out or you can get an analog to DV converter (even cheaper) about 199 - Canopus and others make them Analog to Digital converter Bring in tby Andy Field - Café LA

if you just need to resize -- use Automator to batch convert them if you email me off line or post your email I will send you the macro I made to do that -- the sweet spot for photos at maximum pixel size seems to be It's 1800 x 1350 x 72 dpi. Your Cache Cleaner Sherpa guide here again -- Jude I agree Mac Janitor and Onyx do about the same thing -but Onyx seems to have better scrubbing bubbles to rub out even the nastiest plist and cache stains. Shelley EVERYONE talks about deleting plists....maybe you just stopped by for your first visit.....virtually every FCP suite problem gets fixed by deleting preferences and rebuilding permissions....your best and easiest way to do it with just FCP is with Final Cut Rescue - free download here FINAL CUT RESCUEby Andy Field - Café LA

One thing you may be doing wrong is using the regular Google earth for a professional project If you use Google Earth for a paying project you need to purchase Google Earth Pro (the networks all use that version now for their "Fly in" to location shots.) Try this - get Leopard Cache Cleaner ONYX or MacJanitor -- Beside cleaning preferences they clean a lot of other gunk under the hood the earlier Tiger Cache Cleaner got my mac to finally run a program that simply wouldn't launch after trying anything else. there is a way to get tc into some pulse audio form off a beta deck so transcription services can read it -- I think the question is whether there's a way to do that as well through final cut - don't know the answer but it would be great if there was a way.by Andy Field - Café LA
