This guy is furious at his wife -- so he has a tutorial site on how to do things in Photoshop (real useful lessons) mangling old pictures of his wife. Go here (you can really learn useful Photoshop tips and laugh at the same time) Funny Photoshop Tutorial Siteby Andy Field - Café LA Re: Flicker Removal - but maybe you already know this one - 16 years agoactually it was two problems -- one a photo supered over a pre-done animation (took the photo into photoshop - but yes I tried taking it frame by frame in CS3 and fixing the animation too) But that nesting trck was pure sorcery! There's also an excellent PHOTOSHOP ACTION that does a number of things beside bluring that helps The biggest problem is small or repetive lines (even shiny pby Andy Field - Café LA Flicker Removal - but maybe you already know this one - 16 years agoOut of desperation - and after trying every trick in the book, found a new magical way to get rid of flicker on a picture Yes - I previously tried Photoshop -blur and deflicker Flicker Filter De interlace Voodoo dolls - nothign worked Then out of desperation (see above) I just nested the offending flickering image -- and applied the flicker filter to that Voila! Ficker be gone!by Andy Field - Café LA Re: Sony XDCAM EX Frame Rate Conversion - 60fps to 23.98 - 16 years agoGo here and ask Phillip Bloom Phillip Bloom XDCAM EX Site he may be the global leading expert on XDCAM Ex - he's good about answering emails and can probably help you (had some beautifully shot EX videos on his site too.) also you can email him directly philip.bloom@mac.comby Andy Field - Café LA Re: Downloading FLASH movies.... - 16 years agoGentleman -- I have your solution -- go here -- I know it works for YouTube Videos not sure about other flash video sites......will convert to Itunes TV format and then you can use quicktime to scale it to your desired timeline size - happy converting - Andy Tube TV Flash to Quicktime converterby Andy Field - Café LA Re: 3D Titling Software Recommendations? - 16 years agoJude - Pro Animator is far more powerful than it looks --the series they advertise on the first page of their web site - tutorial training set called "Making it Look Good" encompases how you can combine Pro Animator with texture mapping - After Affects.....splitting elements etc....you can make things look like a million bucks with a few simple keystrokes -- The NBC 3D Peacock from theby Andy Field - Café LA Re: 3D Titling Software Recommendations? - 16 years agoJeff - to answer your question way up there over this entry -- yes Zaxwerks Pro Animator it's on a Mac...all mac all the time (have had them since they were a 128K Beige Box....) rock solid stable.....charge a client a 1000 dollars to animate their logo - make it nice and fancy - will take you less than an hour with Zaxwerks (probably less than 30 minutes) ....you'll make a nice 200 dollar prby Andy Field - Café LA Re: 3D Titling Software Recommendations? - 16 years agoHighly recommend Zaxwerks Pro Animator for stunning quick render 3d Titling -- takes any vector graphic (your client's graphic in Illustrator) and extrudes it with unlimited control - texture mapping etc.....I am far from a graphic artists (producer/director/writer/correspondent/editor - but no artist) and I regularly come up with stunning 3d animated Text and logos with Zaxwerk's pro animator...by Andy Field - Café LA Re: Lens effect and Alpha - 16 years agoAlso try this -- NEST what you want the lens flare on -- then apply the lens flare - Knoll Light Factory does this beautifully in FCP -- also in After Effects without the Unmult -- the QUICKTIME lens flare is fairly limited and doesn't seem to work that well - if you do a lot of this Knoll Light Factory is the best - Andyby Andy Field - Café LA Re: LENS FLARE - 16 years agoLens Flare works in Final cut -- but often you are putting it on one layer but then putting that layer on top of something else -- the flare will only work on the layer you apply it to and sometime obliterate everything below it -- my suggestion....nest all the clips you want to have a lens flare with...then apply the lens flare to the nest..... Andyby Andy Field - Café LA Re: LENS FLARE - 16 years agoMichael, Knoll Light Factory works in FCP ...make sure you have the latest update -- the older version doesn't play well (or at all) with the newer version of FCP...also make sure you obliterate any older version you have on your machine or you will get crash-o-rama selecting that plug in - at least I did till i figured out the problem -- Knoll is the best lens flare package out there and workby Andy Field - Café LA Re: What book should I use? - 16 years agoalso if you just want to resize pictures -- Automator program built into the OS is great - you set it up to batch convert and resize I use that all the time. - Andyby Andy Field - Café LA Re: What book should I use? - 16 years agoHere's an excellent FREE resource -- Richard Harrington's Photoshop for Video podcasts -- they are outstanding -- you will learn everything you've faked your way through for years (at least i did) Go to the Itunes store - do a search for Photoshop or Harrington and subscribe to his podcasts -- You will learn so much from the free lessons that you'll go out - as I did - and buy his DVD set -by Andy Field - Café LA Re: Drive went south, now wha -- help! - 16 years agoJust two cents about Drives -- Agree the Maxtors are the worse (every one I've bought (3) have failed) The 1 western digital I bought at Comp USA also bad - crashed never to breath again. But you must 1 - choose that imput in System Preferences - Audio and 2 - set up a new capture preset and choose that audio imput and then make it an easy set up - or chose that capture preset in log and capture - 3 - make sure you set up log and capture to NON CONTROLLABLE Devision and Audio onlyby Andy Field - Café LA Re: Where does FCP hide Audio Mixdowns? - 16 years agoAre we talking about the processes where you "render and mixdown" the audio via APPLE OPTION R command? Not sure what that does other than smooth out the audio for playback - had some weird sections of no audio at all in exported videos (where the audio DID show up in the timeline) in earlier versions of final cut..but this APPLE OPTION R for all audio seemed to fix it Andyby Andy Field - Café LA Re: OT - FCP 6.5 is out - 16 years agoWhadaya mean, it's working great for me. IS there a way to take video digitized into an AVID system and convert it into usuable quicktime files AND translate the AVID sequence into FCP? We have a client who wants us to take over a great deal of AVID projects and digitized video and they don't have access to a lot of the original material any more - just the digitized files...
