FCP should letterbox it properly and that'll translate over to Compressor as well. -Bryanby bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: FS for dvx going thinking Tapeless - 16 years agoThe DVX spits out the same DV compressed image out of it's FW port that it writes to tape... there will be no difference in the footage. All you'll get is longer, uninterupted record times.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: 2048x1024 ProRes HQ squeezed in DVD studio pro - 16 years agoyou have to set Compressor to crop the image to a 16:9 aspect ratio.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: HDV Monitoring - 16 years agoI really like the JVC Pro LCD's. That's what I'm using at work. I'm thinking of getting a Matrox MXO2 (when it comes out) and connecting that to my Panasonic Plasma for home.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: HDV Monitoring - 16 years agoyou are looking at an SD Downconvert of the HD signal. you are seeing the whole frame, but not all of the pixels.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: 3:2 reverse telecine problems - 16 years agoyou can do a reverse pulldown in Compressor. it is an option in the frame controls tab.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: OT - wireless network adapter for Mac Pro tower - 16 years agoif you're client monitor has HDMI or Component connections, then I'd go with a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: Best LCD Monitor for FC Studio 2 - 16 years agoYou can do both. Normally they scale up (with great results), but pressing the "1:1" button will just show it at native SD resolution in the center of the screen.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: Best LCD Monitor for FC Studio 2 - 16 years agoSprocketz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Also wondering if anyone has experience with the > JVC DT-V24L1DU studio reference LCD monitor. > B&H carries these for $3500 which seems like a > fair price if it's as accurate as JVC says it is. > I am looking for something to use with Color. My Post Sup just bought 4 of these for ourby bigbossbmb - Café LA LCD Broadcast Monitor Resolution - 16 years agoI've been noticing that a lot of the LCD Broadcast Monitors (Panasonic, Sony, and some JVC) don't have enough resolution to show full 1920x1080. I know it would be better to view everything pixel for pixel. But since there are so many that don't, I'm inclined to ask (for self assurance I guess). Is 1920x1080 essential for creating accurate (for broadcast) grades on hi-def material? I'm assuby bigbossbmb - Color Re: OT: mac pro & compressor - 16 years agoFCP itself is not really faster. The speed increases are only noticeable when exporting. It is a fantastic increase, but don't expect miracles from everyday use.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: OT: mac pro & compressor - 16 years agoIt'll really depend on the codec you're using. I made the jump from a dual 2.5ghz to the new 2.8ghz 8-core and my MPEG2 2-pass encodes are about 10x faster. They went from being 1/2 realtime to approx 5x realtime (30min video -> MPEG2 in under 6mins). However this is sort of apples to oranges since I now have to export a QT Movie (not self-contained) prior to bringing it into Compressorby bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: Question regarding how to make 60 p be slow motion - 16 years agoNO! don't do that. open the clip in cinema tools and conform it to whatever framerate you're working in.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: Virtual Clusters not working - 16 years agoYou can't use a virtual cluster exporting from FCP using Compressor. You must export a QT Movie and bring that into Compressor (totally independent of FCP). The virtual cluster will look for multiple licenses of FCP if you send it out of Final Cut to Compressor.by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: Trying to access my 8 cores for faster compressor - 16 years agoare you exporting to Compressor from FCP or bringing a file into Compressor and running it stand-alone? I've gotten it working on my 8-core. In the system prefs, it is set to QuickCluster with services. Services are checked as "Share" not "Managed". And the QuickCluster has the "Include Unmanaged Services..." checked. In Compressor, I simply submit to "Thby bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: Clarifications on clustering - 16 years agoyeah, wireless is not going to cut it. it has to be a wired connection at the very least (preferably Gigabit Ethernet).by bigbossbmb - Café LA Re: Clarifications on clustering - 16 years agoI wouldn't create any more than 2 instances on the Quad and no more than 4 of the Octo. The reason is that each instance can address 2 cores. By having too many instances, you are unnecessarily segmenting the job into too many pieces.by bigbossbmb - Café LA |
