Make sure you're sending the right setup down and monitoring properly. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: capture settings - 15 years agoHave you tried the HDV 1080/60i setup? That should do the trick. 30p is typically stored in a 60i stream in HDV so it shouldn't be an issue. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: RED workflow help! - 15 years agoExport and import yes. But if you get the DPX tool from Glue Tools you can view and export DPX from other applications like FCP and QuickTime Player. Without it you can only do this within Color. It actually won't be a problem if you transcode to 1080p/16:9 say ProRes or uncompressed before going to Color. Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: RED workflow help! - 15 years agoYeah have you considered shooting 2:1 instead and masking for 16:9 in Color using the Geometry room? At 4K you have tons of resolution for the downconvert. Also I'd get the Glue Tools DPX plugin for use within FCP. Also- make sure you have the Log and Transfer plugin for FCP from RED and the latest versions of FCP. Personally I think editing proxies and pulling DPXs using Crimson Workflowby NoahK - Café LA Re: CONTOUR DESIGN ShuttlePRO: Any lovers or haters? - 15 years agoIt's excellent for in-depth audio editing but I haven't used mine for FCP picture editing in years. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Looking for batch lists in QuickTime Player - 15 years agoWell I'd be happy to buy the app if/when it's done and tell my friends all about it but I'm not a software developer. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Looking for batch lists in QuickTime Player - 15 years agoAndreas Kiel Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If Bob doesn't have a solution I could write a > little app which could do it. > Let me know > > Andreas Bob didn't have anything that he could recommend. Yep- I'm using Gluetools- I'll give Bob a shout and see if he has any ideas. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Looking for batch lists in QuickTime Player - 15 years agoThanks- yeah I've tried MPEG-Streamclip but it's not quite up to the task in this case which is converting to DPX with some specific format needs that only QTP can handle. All I need is a little table that lets me drag and drop en masse to QT Player. -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Looking for batch lists in QuickTime Player - 15 years agoSo I'm doing a lot of transcodes and encodes in QuickTime Player- is there a script/automator action or command line interface that would allow me to send a batch list to QuickTime for encoding. The particular formats I use are not happy with Compressor so that's out. Any suggestions? -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Apple QMaster, Color and 8 Core - 16 years agoColor does not work with QMaster so the machine stock is about as fast as it's going to be- no further optimizations are needed. -Noahby NoahK - Color Re: DV NTSC proportions..... - 16 years agoThink I just saw this question in another forum - stick with 720x480. -Noahby NoahK - Color Re: FCP Sequence Prep Procedures for Color - 16 years agoI'd also get rid of anything that's a Motion Project or motion template. -Noahby NoahK - Color Re: Color Quits on "Send to FCP" - 16 years agoColor doesn't like anything that's not straight clips- Motion templates, re-timing, smoothcam, motion projects, etc- can cause trouble. You want to send Color a completely stripped down version of your sequence for best results. -Noahby NoahK - Color Re: - 16 years agoYour system is below the minimum specs and Color included free with FCS so not sure how it's more expensive. Anyways- Color depends a lot on the graphics card for performance and it works best with ProRes and uncompressed. So I'd first suggest converting a clip to ProRes first and sending that to Color. If it still dies then it's your system specs- at least upgrade the graphics card. Here are thby NoahK - Color Re: FCP6>COLOR STILL IMAGES ALPHA ? - 16 years agoAlpha channels are not supported in Color. I'd suggest rendering down to uncompressed or ProRes in FCP before moving onto Color. Noahby NoahK - Color Re: Do I need to convert 24p to 30 for DVD playback? - 16 years agoDefinitely stay at 23.98- that's perfect for a DVD that will look awesome on a progressive display such as a computer monitor and the DVD player automatically adds 3:2 pulldown for NTSC display. 99% of Hollywood DVD's you buy today are encoded at 23.98. More details on my DVD. In fact we have a sample of how to do a 24p DVD here: -Noahby NoahK - Café LA Re: Color issue - 16 years agoIt's possible that the 1.1 upgrade broke compatibility with older cards. Truth be told if you want to use Color more than once in a blue moon it's time for at the least a graphics card upgrade. -Noahby NoahK - Color Re: Is there a DVD "COLOR" tutorial yet? - 16 years agoharry323 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Does anyone know of one yet? > > Best > > Harry We've had one out for about a month now, here's the link: -Noahby NoahK - Color |
