If its only for a couple of dubs you should look for a used SP Deck, those decks are tank, so for 1500$ on the ''semi-long run'' your gonna be in a win situation ($).by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: beta deck is a beta deck? - 15 years ago50 000$....man Beta sp deck dont worth that anymore...you can find sp deck for 1500$by Francois-Michel - Café LA 10.5.5...maybe a problem here ! - 15 years agoSince we updated a couple of our machines here we started to get some problems with external RAID Serial SATA tower. I don't know if its just a coincidence but we've been working for 4 years now with those kinda tower and never had any problems, but just this week two 8 TB tower crashed, sometime they mount sometime not. I downloaded QT Sync...ARE YOU....SERIOUS ! That application is incredible... I opened QT Sync, go to file than open a quicktime movie, than go to insert timecode than go to file save as self contained movie and boom, i got a quicktime with time-code burn in...no render NOTHING AT ALL !!! you got plenty of options to work around too...what can i say GO DOWNLOAD THAT IMMEDIATLYby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: TC Burn - 15 years agoDerek its because MPEG Stream clip require some basic knowledge as far as frame size, interlace or progressive, frame rate...you know what i'm talking about. For experienced guys who know thats stuff its a piece of cake but you cant say that this app. is for everyday peoples.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Question For NATRESS G MAP FRAME users - 15 years agoOk ok guys, i figured it out about the Output process via the KONA 3 Card. The thing i wasn't doing was to set the video playback output properly in FCP. My timeline is 23.98 but i got to choose 29.97 as the video playback output in FCP, than in the FRAME BUFFER of the KONA 3 card in the AJA control panel i got to change it in 29.97 thats it ! Now the KONA 3 card give the option of outpuby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: beachball whenever i try to play media - 15 years agoWell if the firewire is full its not good, since you should have at least 10% free of the total of your entire drive capacity. Did you try to export all the media files from the firewire on your drives in the RAID SATA box than open a new project in FCP than try to run some clips in it from the RAID SATA box drives ? If not try it. From what you wrote, it seems that the firewire drive is theby Francois-Michel - Café LA Question For NATRESS G MAP FRAME users - 15 years agoHi guys, I have to output a 23.98 PsF sequence on a HDCAM SR. But the final result, i mean the master have to be 29.97 since its for TV. Im wondering if i can duplicate the 23.98 sequence and past it in a 29.97 sequence than apply the G MAP FRAME plug-in on it to conform the sequence in a 29.97 sequence than output straight on HDCAM SR as the VTR set up in 29.97. I already postby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: The famous HDV to ProRes transfer. - 15 years agoWell i got a Capture card ( KONA 3 card ) but my HDV deck doesn't have a HD-SDI out...its a old model.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: TC Burn - 15 years agoHere is a way i found for those who got a external card like a KONA. In the past i had to do TCBI the way it was mentioned above : Make a SCQTM than drop the TC Reader in it and export the sequence in whatever format i wanted ( usually 320x240 low res. as a QT reference for the guy who do the final mix ). As it was mentioned above the process is very long, i found that its about 7:1 even moby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: The famous HDV to ProRes transfer. - 15 years agoThx NIck, Yeah, i badly explain when i said '' need to do a render '' . I can preview it perfectly (Green) i was just wondering if there was a way to tweak settings in capture preset to capture at 1920x1080 frame size with HDV. Obviously i think not. Thx.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: importing media - 15 years agoHey quick tips here miamia, if your planing of using MPEG Streamclip, copy the VIDEO_TS folder on your internal hard drive instead of going right from the DVD directly. Than go from the TS in your hard drive in MPEG Streamclip.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: FCP HD System questions - 15 years agoI would strongly suggest faster Storage too as Jeff pointed out.by Francois-Michel - Café LA The famous HDV to ProRes transfer. - 15 years agoHi guys, I saw the article on Ken Stones web page about the HDV to prores capture. I'm wondering if there is a way of capturing HDV in prores at 1920x1080 frame size. Im working on a project with DCVPRO HD footage digitized in Apple ProRes 422 HQ and some HDV tapes and the problem is that when i take some HDV(ProResed) clips and put them in the timeline (1920x1080 prores 422 HQ) sby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: DVCPro to Prores conversion - 15 years agoYes, you will have a lost of quality, you may not notice it in FCP, but if you got a broadcast HD monitor for seeing your playback you will notice it right on the spot. When im talking about a lost of quality, i mean if you compare with DVCPRO HD 1080i. If you put it in a HDV 1080i sequence i dont know which one will look better between the 2 formats.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: choosing a good camera for easy workflow in FCP - 15 years agoQuoteif dom buys an ex1, ex3, hpx170 or a uvw100 for that matter, they can get busy doing work for the next year and be able to afford 3 scarlets once they are actually available. Quotethe words NOW and RED cant be used in the same sentence for the reasonable near future - if ever. I think you might wanna check that page...since i think NOW and RED CAN be used in the same sentence. Maybe he already knew about it...for sure, i assume he know about that cam, but he asked about brand of new cam he could buy, so i thought if he didnt knew about the sacrlett he could just give a look...thats it.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: choosing a good camera for easy workflow in FCP - 15 years agoWell of course the EX3 is not as affordable as the EX1, but if your tempting by that camera but the rolling shutter is the only thing that slow you down in the process of buying it, i would say wait till january and invest in the ''RED Scarlet'', it will be sold for about 3000$ i think than add a 6000$ for a lens and youll have a much much more better cam than the EX3...a bit costly.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Technical question about 23.98 to 29.97 - 15 years agoThanks a lot guys ! Just to know that you guys think it can be done via the KONA make me feel a lot more good...lol. I think if i start from a 23.98 timeline but set my FRAME BUFFER in the KONA card at 1080i 29.97 it will convert it, or at least assign the right signal to the VTR, Because if i let the frame buffer at 23.98 i can't put a conversion at the SDI output, its all grayed out... Oby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: choosing a good camera for easy workflow in FCP - 15 years agoIf you liked the EX1 but didn't liked the fact that the lens is fixed, i would strongly suggest to add a bit of money in your budget and buy the EX3 which doesn't have a fixed lens and got a lot more options...simply a great camera !by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Technical question about 23.98 to 29.97 - 15 years agoYeah but will it generate the 29.97 fps time-code on the tape ? That is what i am worried about, the setup ill have to do to have the 23.98 convert to 29.97 fps on the master tape. I am pretty sure that on the SRW-5500 you can convert time-code on the fly, i'll have to check in the option of the VTR but if you say that i can convert it on the fly with the KONA i'll have to check that too. Tapes have been digitized in Apple ProRes 422 HQ 23.98PsF and edited on a 23.98PsF timeline in FCP 6.0.4 We are about to do the output of the first show but we have to output on HDCAM SR (SRW 5500) in 29.97. I use quicktime conversion ( droping a TC reader filter in the video ) : H.264 - 320x240 QVGA - medium or a bit lower quality - one pass and set the audio as derek wrote above. The quality of the video doesnt have to be really good since its only a reference but the sound should be as sharp as possible.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: OT: Paul Newman dies of cancer... - 15 years agoSad day, all we can do is remember his work and his contribution and crack a smile.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Trouble with Compressor - 15 years agoExactly like Master Strypes said, It wont work if your compressing from the timeline in FCP with Q Master. The best way of course is creating a SCQTM ( Quick Time Movie ) of your sequence THAN compress from that QT and Q Master will work perfectly.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Any OSX 10.5.5 update and/ or Pro Apps 2008-03 update blues? - 15 years agoNo problem so far...by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: DVCPRO HD and 24p workflow - 15 years agoHi Jeff, I got a DVCPRO HD deck at my job and ill check tonight if you can record 23.976PsF. Im pretty sure you can with that deck, Since there is the 23.976PsF playback option so considering the fact that the deck handle that frame rate i believe it can recorded it too. So you could up-convert your standard footage in that frame rate on a dvcpro/dvcpro hd tape than digitize it in Fby Francois-Michel - Café LA |
