From that copy, Drag and drop the TS in MPEG STREAMCLIP. Now you will be able to choose tiny part of your footage directly in MPEG STREAMCLIP if you want, using the samby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Best camera for FCPro Studio for a newbie - 15 years agoWell, mini-dv camera would be excellent for a first appearance at the plate. There is plenty of great models out there and since the HD/HDV explosion their prices have dropped considerably. Look for Sony or Canon, Derek talked about the GL2 but you could look for the GL1 from Canon which would be a great mini-dv camera to start with. You should look in the pro-sumers models from 5 years andby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: out of sync audio/video - 15 years agoGive us more informations : What MAC are you using. ( version of FCP and OS ) What Hardware are you using. What is your playback device. What is the format of your footage...etc.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: HDV batch capture gotchas - 15 years agoWell Strypes, you are probably right man. I didn't had the time to run the test about the batch capture, but as soon as i got a bit of free time ill try it and let you know.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Trouble with Compressor - 15 years agoIm sure if you do it without Q master it'll work right on the spot.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: HDV batch capture gotchas - 15 years agoWell i digitize some hdv footage converting it on the fly in ProRes. I spot-checked the clips in quicktime and they seem to have the same original TC as the TC on the tape. Considering that, i would think that you could batch captured it. I will try it.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Multi-clip sync with offset - 15 years agoHere is what i do with footage from a tv show shooted with 2 cams TC synced : 1 - Make sure your TC overlay option in ''view'' menu is on and in ''show'' you selected timecode. 2 - Choose your first clip in the browser than take note of the ''media start'' timecode. 3 - If, for example, the ''media start'' TC is 19:00:10:00, go to the ''timeline option'' (Apple-0) than make the starting TCby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: HDV batch capture gotchas - 15 years agoIs it true that if you capture HDV footage in ProRes, later you wont be able to Batch Capture it...?by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Under the Gun getting HD to a DVD - 15 years agoWell to do that you need to have a lot of DDR. You should have 2 Gig of DDR by Cores when you do the Virtual Cluster, 1 gig minimum by cores, so as i got only 8 Gig im not sure about the 8 cores cluster, scared of choking the system.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Red render bar when I drop a clip in my timeline.... - 15 years agoIt seems like there is a wrong settings in FCP. Do Apple-9 on one of your clip in FCP and tell us what it says : Frame size : Compressor : FPS : Pixel Aspect : From that, open a new sequence, just make sure that yout sequence settings ( Apple-0 ) are the same and drop the clip in it. Just be sure that the sequence preset is not Apple ProRes but 10 Bit uncompressed did FCP ask you aby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Under the Gun getting HD to a DVD - 15 years agoyah strypes but i heard it work faster and you get the much of it when you compress multi-stream or one movie with more than 1 codec at the same time. I did some test with HD footage, with and without "virtual cluster'' and with a cluster the best result i got was 15% faster ( with an ocotocore 5 cores taken and 8gig of ddr)by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Under the Gun getting HD to a DVD - 15 years agoIf you got an octocore with at least 6gigs of ram i would try a ''Virtual cluster'' with apple Q Master. That will save you 15% of normal time in COMPRESSOR. Even if you got a quad core you can do it. If your interested about that ''Cores virtual cluster'' i could explain more or post you a youtube link.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Multi-clip sync with offset - 15 years agoDo the clips have the same time code, if so you should be able to multiclips them, not using IN POINT or OUT POINT but TIME CODE. Than a multiclip will be created but of course your gonna have a part of it just showing the clip that start prior of the other and a part where there is only the second clip.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: 3 monitor setup? - 15 years agoEvery editing rooms here at my work got 2 displays for FCP and one for preview : Here is the setup and hardware : First the Graphic Card is an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB. That card got 2 monitors output so you can plug your 2 monitors for FCP from the card, you dont need 2 cards just need a Graphic cards that got 2 outputs for your monitors. The Preview monitor is plugged in the KONAby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: TCBI with the KONA CARD. - 15 years agoThx Joey but i was talking about the KONA CARD setup, not in FCP as you probably figured after the post of Jeff. Thx Jeff, i realize that there is no way to move the TCBI in the control panel...thats a bit ridiculous...by Francois-Michel - Café LA TCBI with the KONA CARD. - 15 years agoWhat's up guys at LAFCPUG, This a question for the KONA CARD users. I got to make a DVD TCBI and i'm gonna just play back my timeline from FCP, set the burn in option in the AJA KONA control panel, put COMPOSITE in the ''analog out'' option and take the composite out from the card in the DVD and take the RCA sound output from the card as well to the DVDby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: TIVO like software for MAC? - 15 years agowhat about '' Sling Box '' You could put the feed in the sling box than streamed it real time over the internet. And you could recorded it on your mac and streamed it real time also. Its just a suggestion as i am not sure about my understanding of the problem...lolby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: PMW1 XDCAM - what's the best format to edit in? - 15 years agoThe freeze up are probably because your sequence is in INTERLACE and your clip in progressive. Tell me, did the clip you drop in your sequence automatically have to be rendered or a little green bar appear over the timeline when you drop a clip in it.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: Problems Logging and Capturing HD into Final Cut Pro - 15 years agoI saw this on a review. ''Unfortunately, editing footage shot with the HD1 isn't quite as convenient. Material recorded in DV format can be edited with any standard application, but at the present time, video shot in the proprietary progressive modes can be edited only with JVC's included Windows-based MPEG Edit Studio Pro 1.0 LE. Than i would like to know what type of XDCAM camera your using if your not using XDCAM disk ??? Since your not using PMW-EX1 or EX3 you are using disk so were is the ''TAPELESS'' work flow ?by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: "Unable to load effect" - 15 years agoDid it give you the choice of reconnecting the effect at all when it happen. Is it an effect from After Effect. What kind of processor do you have.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: PMW1 XDCAM - what's the best format to edit in? - 15 years agowell here is something you can do if you got an XDCAM VTR. (Never tried it, but im pretty sure it will work). On a XDCAM VTR you got an SDI out and a Remote RS-422 (9pin). So im pretty sure you can attach the VTR to the KONA card than plug the SDI out from VTR to the IN of the KONA card than capture footage like when you use a BETA DIGI VTR or HDCAM SR VTR. Just have to choose Apple ProRby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: PMW1 XDCAM - what's the best format to edit in? - 15 years agoFor film print : 24 Progressive. Thx Jeff.by Francois-Michel - Café LA Q Master - 15 years agowhat's up guys, I just saw a tutorial yesterday about Q Master. The guy was creating a '' virtual cluster '' and used it with compressor. Basically he dedicated 3 cores out of 4 to compressor and the compression was really quicker than usual. I tried it and i got to say that its amazing...1 minute of HD compressed in one minute with 6.2mbps 2 pass compression and dolby digby Francois-Michel - Café LA Re: MAC OSX question. - 15 years agoYeah but i am afraid that he did some other manipulations after that terrible mistake, so apple-z wont do it.by Francois-Michel - Café LA OT: MAC OSX question. - 15 years agoWhat's up guys, I need one of you wizards to help me on this one. It's not a FCP question but i figured that one of you know the answer. One of my friend do a lot of photo-shoot, for events promotion.
